  • A previous video I made called my “Trains What If”series, I got some positive feedback from it and was requested by someone to do a 1990s version. So here it is, I took a bunch of clips and did my best to form this short video of what we could have expected to see if 611 was wearing her whistle from the 90s today. Note, these clips are just videos from others that I slapped new audio clips in and edited them to make it look like it’s the original audios for them.
All the credit goes to the original creators of the video clips you are about to see, if you would like to see where I pulled the audio and clips from, watch to the end and view the credits.
Once again thanks for watching and I hope you enjoyed todays video. It’s not really much but right now I am just getting some enjoyable videos made to keep the channel alive until I am able to go back out and film myself some new clips. I hope to go out during the summer to a couple of railroads like strasburg and the east broad top, but we shall see.

The best whistle 611 has worn imo

      That's a fact :)
      611 doesn't sound the same anymore☹️

Yep, would be nice to hear this whistle back on 611, instead of me just editing it poorly onto the clips.

Man I WISH the 611 still had that 1991 to 1994 whistle. It was a growling, loud, baritone whistle, perfectly encapsulating the speed and power of the streamlined workhorse that is the 611. A durn shame that the Fire Up 611 group and Preston Claytor couldn't come to a settlement on their disagreements before Preston removed himself and this whistle from the group and the engine respectively.

@tricky1546 this is because others just take random clips and audios and slap them together instead of taking the time to find two clips of 611 going the same speed and putting the audio on the whistle on the clips we have of 611 today. This project took me about a couple of weeks to make in finding all the right clips and doing my best to make sure it looked good, some clips I weren’t happy with but left in there.

Will it come back again the same whistle

Probably not in the foreseeable future the closest we will get is what she is wearing now and that is the whistle from her sister engine #609

@@VirginianRailwayProductions I was told by the person who procured the whistle that's currently on the 611, as of the typing of this, that it is NOT off of the 609. That's just a falsehood generated by the Railfan Grapevine. Whether it was intentional or accidental, I don't much care.

@@justahillbilly7777 then where is it from if we know at all, for I can’t remember where, it might have Been from the Pocahontas vol’s but I remember hearing that specific whistle on one of the j’s or at least one that sounded really close to the one on the 611 as of this year. It’s either just a coincidence or it’s the same whistle, I’m not sure at this moment. But I will say her whistle right now is pretty damn close to Robert claytor’s whistle now belonging to his son Preston, which I find amusing, and i know the whistle on 611 now isn’t claytor’s whistle either.
