I'm 60 years old and have been playing drums since I was about 12. I've never heard that so crisp and clear. I have not really learned that song very well and tried many of times to play it and not sucseed. You should hear the song they plagiarized for this. Same beat, similar guitar, very similar intro and song arrangement. Its played in one of their documentaries which focuses on this song. It's an old song nobody has ever heard.

The part most people don’t notice about that song is how tricky the galloping patterns are on the ride cymbal, especially during the guitar solo. He nailed it from what I can tell, although the ride wasn't very forward in the mix. Most excellent job!

You simply can't compare this music with today's chart music. Spotify songs only with 2-3 minutes. In those older kinds of songs with 4-5 minutes and different segments, you really can engulf yourself in the music, it is kind of meditative, and you forget your surroundings for a couple of minutes, which is awesome.
Songs like this still exist, you just have to actually look for them instead of having them handed to you. There was just as much trash back then as there is now, but all the junk gets forgotten.
I’ve been a metalhead for over 35 years, and I suck at guitar! Why Do I suck at the guitar? Talent is there but discipline is not! So, in addition to madly enjoying EES’s videos, I bow to his commitment to discipline. I grew up in a time when shredders tried their “bestest” to burn guitars necks … playing as much as possible notes which I enjoyed it a lot back then, but later on I reached to the point where on many occasions I said “oh pls don’t overplay it, pls don’t go too far!”, but EES never overplays. He masterfully convinces you that he can play more notes, much more, but he doesn’t. Everything is masterfully in place, and balanced. Calling him one of the best drummers alive, or the best drummer, is just not enough. He singlehandedly has changed drumming, and has opened doors to new realms of drumming. Good for the generation(s) who will be inspired by him. RESPECT! ❤🤘❤️

You are one of those artists. The real joy here is you constantly iterate how difficult these songs are to play while making it look easy and fun. I absolutely love it. Your added parts were a superb layer with the guitar, loved that! Most excellent info at the end, I'm signing up and I don't even own a drum pad or sticks. Note: I think Alex Van Halen is one of the most under rated drummers. Alex performed in the shadow of Roth, Eddie and then Sammy.
