  • Yes! It's now possible to have an ultra-scale driveline and the performance of overdrive at the transfer case, courtesy of GCM Racing for your SCX10 or SCX10II! In this video I give an overview of the SCX Trans Conversion kit, the benefits, and some upgrades courtesy of Shapeways!
    Pick yours up here: tinytrucks.com/...
    or
    gcmracing.ca/vi...
    Install instructions here: • SCX10-2 Scale Drivelin...
    Buy your GCM motor cover via Shapeways here: www.shapeways....
    This is a real game changer for folks that want performance, and looks all at the same time. My thanks to GCM Racing, Shapeways and Axial for making killer parts and kits for this great hobby we all love.
    Thanks for watching!

    I started assembling mine last night, what an amazing feat of tiny truck engineering between SSD and GCM.
    I don't forsee Axial ever departing from the offset motor/trans (pinion/spur) design just because beginners in the market who may be coming from the basher mentality side of things would constantly break parts in an intricate locked transmission that we have here. When I installed my first slipper eliminator it felt like a rite of passage.

    I'm so glad you did a video on this!!! I actually just got my 1st Axial, it's an SCX10ii. I am really big into 1/25th scale model building, so building a scale r/c is the way I'm going with it. I'm really looking for realism 100%, I instantly went hard body K5 Blazer, and am planning on getting this as soon as possible. Thanks so much for the video, it really sealed the deal for me having to have it!!! It's Awesome!

Low stance 4 runner wheels not hella agressive tires. I love how scale this truck actually looks. And the lower hieght in rear that depicts how all 4 runners end up(droopy rear susp) im amazed

    I am with you on this one big time my friend ! And your tiny truck looks sweet with this kit in it and I feel the same as you and I love Axial I have only 2 tiny truck and they are bouth Axial , MY first was the Wraith I got that new and put a tun of time in making a hard body for , and # 2 is my used SCX10 ll that is bone stock but I am putting a Toyota Hilux hard body on it but I hade to mod it to have a long box for it to all work and stay a 2 door ! I am working on it all the time and am trying to save for the kit you have from GCM. My SCX 10 ll works so dam good as it is and all the things that I wish that it had comes in this kit from GCM If you just got your first SXC10 ll kit or rtr this needs to be the next thing that you get !
    Better yet Axial talk to GCM and re-release the SCX10 ll kit calling it The Ultimate Edition and have it come with this GCM kit! I know that the SCX10 ll is one of the best if not the best tiny truck out as far as performance and with the GCM kit it is just that much better!
    I love this kit and I do not even have one yet just for all that It opens up for me with my SCX10 ll , I get to make it even more Scale, WIN. I can put a full interior in it hand made or 3D printed,WIN. I can now have a full-scale engine bay, WIN. And the truck will now out perform itself, WIN WIN WIN WIN.

    • @scalebuildersguild

      The price comes down a bit when you do the conversion to US funds. Also, you get what you pay for. Innovation and unique features don't come cheap!

      Scale Builder's Guild Im looking at the full spectrum of the project in itself. This is one of many moving pieces to make a project like this happen. Even with converting to USD its still over $200 and there are many other things that will need to be purchased from 3D printing companies to finish it. Once all said and done this conversion will end up costing around $400 if not more. Obviously its really a matter of personal choice and preference to how much you are willing to delve into your pocket to make this conversion a reality. I know it sounds like I’m complaining which I apologize for, but Im really just making sure that people realize what they are getting themselves into if they decide to go this route. It is a very cool idea and if you have the wallet then this conversion is for you. Im sure the quality speaks for itself and I can’t argue that! It just stinks when the guys who can shell out more money for things like this have an advantage over those who can’t. Overall, very cool product!!

    Well....... We might have to wait until the SCX10 III comes out to get a "Scale" Drivetrain, and a *CENTERED* forward mounted motor (UNLIKE Traxxas and HPI).
    Someday I'll be able to afford one, I just hope that Chris is still selling it...

    I really wish you would use the proper terms when talking about a "scale" rc. First off it's not a scale looking "driveline" it's a scale looking "drivetrain". A "driveline" or "propeler shaft" is the shaft that transfers torque to the axles from the power source. In this case the power source is the scale looking drivetrain. Also a "divorced" transfer case is when there is a small driveline between the transmission and trasfer case. This GCM kit bolts the transfer case directly to the transmission.

    • @scalebuildersguild
      @scalebuildersguild  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's only one option that I know of for the SCX10 II. You're running the Xtraspeed helical gears? You get 6.7% difference. Not even close to what is achievable with this setup. I'd rather have the drive difference at the transfer case than the axles as well.

    • @scalebuildersguild

      No, not really. Combining the performance of an SCX10II and a scale drive line isn't really the same as a TF2.

    • @markcargill1185
      @markcargill1185 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only thing that a 4 linked tf2 would be missing is the overdrive to the front end without have to completely change the motor/tranny weight distribution.

    • @scalebuildersguild
      @scalebuildersguild  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm aware of the setup options, but I'd prefer to have an SCX10II's out-of-box capabilities, axles, robust build and aftermarket support, combined with scale accuracy rather than the other way around from RC4WD. Just a personal preference. And I'm trying to highlight an option out there for others that is new from GCM.
