The Maldives is one of the world's wonders. Located in the Indian Ocean and made of 1,192 coral islands, it is also one of the world’s lowest-lying countries. The highest natural point is just 2.4 metres above sea level, which makes the Maldives highly sensitive to climate change. At Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences, we want to be custodians of this pristine environment. Not only by reducing our impact on the environment, but also by teaching our guests about actions they can take when they return home.
At Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences, we are leading the way with environmental projects and currently have over 35 different key sustainability strategies in place. These include solar energy, coral regeneration, reducing our carbon emissions, turning waste into wealth through on-site recycling and our Homegrown and Homemade@Amilla programmes, as well as protecting sea turtles, manta rays and white tailed tropicbirds. We have also purchased items for our villas made from recycled ocean-bound plastic, such as wet sacks for your damp swimwear.
