Swerve is a guy that gets it. Not just himself and his character, but also how to be an investment for the company. He's invested in the growth and health of the company. It's great.
Swerve's worked with indies who appreciated him, Lucha Underground & WWE who arguably didn't, and now? He wisely recognizes how far he can go with a company that appreciates him. He's been on both sides of that fence, and I bet it feels good to be back on the right side of it.
Love his energy. Reminds me of a quote from Tranquilo Club, about wanting AEW to focus fully on wrestlers who really *want* to be there, and want to contribute to the company as best they can. When WWE made all those massive cuts a few years ago - many during the pandemic, let's not forget - lots of guys landed in AEW just to pick up a cheque and spin their wheels for a while, waiting for Triple H to bring them right back as soon as he could. Swerve never did that. Maybe he never felt truly appreciated over there, or just figured that chapter of his career was over, but regardless, he's committed fully to AEW and you can feel that energy from him in interviews like this. So cool to see - I remember seeing him at a Fight Club Pro show in 2017 or so, and he was already a super talented in-ring guy, but now he's really evolving into an awesome all-round performer. We love to see it :)
I think after Joe it is Wardlow then Swerve then Ospreay then White. Okada will probably take the Continental Crown first. I know Adam Cole seems to still be next in line after Wardlow but damn, his last injury just makes him look really week and he gets thinner by the day.
Love how I keep finding random interviews of AEW wrestlers with minor news outlets. Really seems that at least backstage, most of them are rallying into supporting AEW the same way AEW supports them.
Ask him about the time he threatened to kill a baby (in storyline of course) and fans hated his opponent (that baby’s father) so much that Swerve is now the biggest babyface in AEW. Wrestling is weird sometimes.
I love how Swerve uses the words "us" and "we". It shows that he is fully invested and committed to AEW.
I like how the interviewer knows so much about and respects wrestling and the business.
Love seeing other interviews like this, love AEW and swerve

I love Swerve! He is such an artist with his character portrayal! He will be world champion this year. Can’t wait to see what he is going to do!
Swerve js a professional in and out of the ring. Just my impression of him as a person. Amazing wrestler. I'm happy to see him on the run he's having.
