    Todd Snider it the type of songwriter that after you hear his stuff you think, "Wow, he's awesome, but I totally could have written that... and I really wish I did." Then later, when you grab your guitar to try, it becomes rapidly apparent how good he is and how much you really suck.
    "...well Slash was just f*ckin wearin 'em." Brilliant.

    Y'all we are truely blessed to have a musician like Todd Snider out there keeping the values of the old school singer/sound writers. I worry that in the near future we are gonna lose those values and $ will reign supreme throughout the airwaves.

    A lot of people did the talking blues back in the day. Listen to the song Talking Union by Pete Seeger. Pete even said Woody was the one that taught everybody how to do it. Woody would be proud that Todd is carrying on the tradition! This video is awesome.

    harley9967 I didn't realize he was belittling Slash for being in a bar at 9AM. As far as I could tell, he didn't mention the time. He was giving what is known as an anecdote. Wouldn't you think it strange to see a guy dressed up like that in a bar?

    It's called Blues folks. It's a framework. You set up the frame that tons of artists have used before, you pick up the same colors of paint that are already there and you make your own picture. Before anyone has the nerve to call this "theft", go find a compilation called "The Blues Roots of Led Zeppelin" and give it a spin. THAT was theft. THIS is homage.

    • @kinkle_Z
      @kinkle_Z 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      True. There's a framework. But then you need soul..integrity...heart...connection. Like...Democrats auction themselves to the highest bidder and ...THEN THERE came BERNIE.

    @boulderjames The theme from The Beverly Hillbillies uses the same format too. It's Americana brother! Just like 12 bar blues...all the same but what differentiates it is the lyrics & the "noodling" within the framework.

I think that's what music is about it tells a story about people's feelings emotions things that they experience in their life for them to express it power music love it

    Todd knows Jerry Jeff Walker, so it's not a coincidence. Check out John Prine's 'Jesus, the missing years' for a similarity as well (Rome... Italy that is.... etc). But Todd's version is fantastic too, and certainly Todd's credentials as a songwriter are unassailable. I like all of those songs, and I like this one especially. And thanks for tipping me off to Ramblin Scramblin. I like that one too!
