    Man, I want to get some of these guys so bad but hell, the George kollias signature pedals cost as much as my kit does lol right now i have a pair of Pearl P-930 that came with my kit. I wish I could try them out before I threw the cash down on them. I keep hearing mixed reviews. Some say the are the best money can buy and others say pass.
    I have two more big investments in my kit to make. Pedals being one and a rack being the other. I have double bass drums so I have to buy another piece of the rack. Man, drumming is an expensive hobby lol but I'm addicted to buying new stuff for my kit. I just got a Pearl drop clutch for my hihat and the adapter to hook the hihat up to my bass drum.

    I’ve always owned some axis pedals. Since they first came out. I just can’t seem to get any power out of them. I end up resorting back to dw9000. But I WANT to figure out how to get power out of these axis pedals. Idk what I’m doing wrong in my settings.

    Man! Those are some sick lookin pedals. I like those beaters too, although I do like the stock Axis beaters. I like the wooden ones. In my 15 years of playin, I've never had the chance to try these out. I'm so dead set on the Tama Iron Cobras because I kno what they feel like and they're more in my price range but I'm loving the micro tune system on these. Now you got me debating on what to do now bro. Lol nice video. Up close and informative. Thumbs up.

      Thanks man! It’s quite the change from playing heavier pedals like the iron cobras. Also do what you want to do! They’re worth saving for.

    Axis are the most versatile pedals. I retro fitted my pedals I bought in the 90's to Longboards a few years ago. They still play like new. On the double pedals, you can set them up left or right. They're by far the best I've ever used.

    • @CameronFleury
      @CameronFleury  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are very versatile. It was a challenge going from cobras to these because of their weight difference. However the axis pedals options outweigh them incredibly!

    Have you got your beaters in centre or left one is bit off centre???I can’t get my A21Laser in the middle 😫

    • @CameronFleury
      @CameronFleury  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The left one is slightly off centre. You can put it more in the middle with sonic hammers. Actually, there should be a setting that’ll help correct that.

    I have 3 AXIS A pedals and all three have stripped out VDL cam set screws. The plastic topped screw that breaks them you use a drum key then the threads strip because aluminum threads with a steel bolt fail 100% of the time. I contact axis and they Do Not reply. I also upgraded the long board tops and the springs and they do not reply. They do not care about my problem that will eventually be everybody's problem if you play 2 hours a day every day.

    jesus, things have moved on, great for double pedallers, if that's a word. Very good video thanks.

  • @patrickwilliams3590

    Is there much of a sound difference between plastic and wooden beaters?

    • @CameronFleury
      @CameronFleury  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question! I haven't played plastic beaters all that much, if at all. So unfortunately I can't give you an accurate answer. This is something I need to look into!

      Cameron Fleury thanks anyways for the input!

    • @that-avr-drummer
      @that-avr-drummer 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. I use wood and used to use plastic and the wood have a warmer sound to them and tend to last longer because there is some natural "give" with them as opposed to stiff plastic. Hope that helps

    • @unleash-hell6666
      @unleash-hell6666 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      mgdrummer78 ..can I ask you a question sir....please reply..do you feel that the "Wood beater gives you more rebound than the plastic one"??.

  • @gregwilliams2764

    Hi Cam. I see the Lowboys. Do they act like the hammers being forward . The marksman is past vertical when it makes contact. That’s what I loved about hammers. The problem is when I get the right distance and tighten them ( the hammers) they twist in the hole no matter how I try to make that tight. You must have a process for that . Thanks, greg

    • @CameronFleury
      @CameronFleury  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're nice and light, and they're not very hammer like at all. They sit at 90 degrees when they hit the surface of the kick drum batter head. I haven't had much luck with the Hammers either, and opted for wood because of the attack it produces when tracked.

    I must have an older version. My vbl is set by a tumb screw. The drive shaft length is also adjusted by allen keys.

    • @CameronFleury
      @CameronFleury  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've seen a lot of older models with what you're talking about. The new ones obviously have improved, but regardless they are still great pedals!

    • @erraticboss168
      @erraticboss168 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cameron Fleury there was a video called "why axis pedals suck" and his pedals basically ate them selfs. Im hoping that won't happen with my pedals. Im not sure how many "gens" of axis there are.

      I hear of a lot of drummers having to replace certain parts, but like anything you need to properly maintain your gear.

      Totally! Ten you only need to worry about that instead of changing 5 other settings. Highly suggest trying them out.

    I thought about getting micro tunes, but there quite expensive. Also the micro tunes make it where you dont have to take the pedal off the bass drum.

    Good on you for trying to help people, but the best thing to do with Axis pedals is sell them, then buy a set of Trick, ACD, or Czarcie Kopyto.

      @@CameronFleury Have you tried any of those others yet? I've extensively researched myself, though I'm not a youtuber, so no vids. I went with Trick, and they delivered more power than any Axis pedal I've ever played, in any configuration (including AL2's and the Kollias signature). My 20+ year old Iron Cobras were better, I could be slightly more precise with the Axis pedals, no one noticed the difference but me. They noticed the power difference though. I've not personally got to try a pair of ACD Darwins yet, they also make a ton of retrofits for just about every pedal. Kopytos are just as sweet as the Tricks, with a bit grippier footboard. Didn't wanna wait a year for them though.

    • @x8jason8x
      @x8jason8x 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just watching videos on them shows the ease of setting any of them up compared to Axis pedals.

      Cameron Fleury oh for sure. So many things are linked together. You could go on for 15 minutes before you know it. That was a perfect amount of info for a primitive cerebrum like mine to download!

      It's a never ending topic of discussion, and some things are better left for another video. But yeah, thank you man! Hope you save some of that information and it's able to help you out in some way shape or form!

    • @gregwilliams2764
      @gregwilliams2764 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cameron Fleury Sorry, hit the wrong button. Anyway don’t like the Trick anymore. Many reasons. Just bought a single Axis X with MT from Sweetwater for $219 NEW. Its literally in the mail. Bought the lowboy on Amazon for $30. Haven’t got them yet . Next week or week after. I live in Panama. Takes a while to get my stuff. I have a Sonic Hammer in my Trick now. Needs more weight though. Not a good match. But I like contacting the head before it’s past parralell. Can I do that with the lowboy . Hope so. I like the smack of wood.

    I had these pedals for years. Don't buy this product. The drive shaft has round bar on round bar, It strips if you kick like a man. Do yourself a favor and dont buy these. Go with trick. Far superior in literally every way. Keep playing drums!
