YAMAHA FG-360 S/No,21018XXX(1972 Green Label),FG-340 No S/No,(1972? Green Label),FG-180 No S/No,(1970 Red Label),FG-150 S/No,569XXX(1966 Light Green Label)
It’s hard not to like them all. I’ve grown very fond of these old Japanese guitars. They were obviously masterfully made or wouldn’t stand the test of time like they do. And to think, Yamaha knows even more today about guitar construction. The new FG5 red label is an incredible guitar as well
I have a dark blue label FG-360. It says, made in Japan and has a red diamond stamp on the label with initials below the label. The initials look like "HK" in black ink. Would you know any information about this guitar? Much thanks.
Excellent comparison! I've had a few 180s' and 150s' and one 360. In general considering every individual guitar is different I prefer the 150. I think the smaller body gives a clearer tone. Secondly I would choose the 180. I presently have a 160 which is very good and probably my favorite so far. Elixer 11s 80/20 bronze strings work well and last. They are all great guitars!
Of course,I like all type of FG series,My best guitar is FG-150 S/No,569XXX.This guitar is good condition.and it is difficult to find such good condition today.
I have the red label FG-360, FG-230, FG-140, ( FG160, TAN), FG-180, FG-150 FG-110 and FG 300. YAMAHA ROCKS for the price GREAT QUALITY, FG-200 GREEN LABEL, and A S-70 CLASSICAL (DYNAMIC GUITAR) before the FG SERIES.
They all have such wonderful tone, but my favorite is the FG180. What brand and gauge of strings are you using on it? Thanks. By the way, I just love old, well constructed acoustic guitars like these.

Nice comparison video. Which one in person has the most punch, clarity, and "sweetness" out of all of them?
I like FG-150.I can play easily chord sounds and finger picking.
