- Professional eater Randy Santel "Atlas" vs Twenty Pho Hour's Vietnamese Beef Pho Challenge hosted by Twenty Pho Hour Vietnamese / Asian Fusion Restaurant in Orlando, Florida!! After finishing up the three restaurant food challenges in Southern California, I flew over to Orlando, Florida so I could spend a few days with @KatinaEatsKilos and her mother at Disney World and Universal Studios, and also attend FNCE 2022, the annual Food and Nutrition Conference & Expo. After the 4-day conference was over, I headed to Twenty Pho Hour and attempted their Vietnamese Beef Pho Challenge which had only been beaten five times out of many attempts. The base challenge is for one person to finish one giant bowl of Vietnamese pho loaded with rice noodles and broth, topped with 7 different cuts of beef meat - short rib, oxtail, eye round steak, tendon, meatball, brisket, and tripe. There were healthy vegetables and hard boiled eggs with soft yolks on top. Challengers pay $50 whether they win or lose, but winners earn a sweet t-shirt and spot on Twenty Pho Hour's Wall of Fame. I knew I could finish one bowl, and the staff there really wanted to see someone try to eat two pho bowls, so I let them talk me into trying to eat two. If I could eat both, they were going to let me have both bowls free along with a sweet t-shirt and spot on the Wall of Fame. BIG thanks to everyone with Twenty Pho Hour for the wonderful food, drinks, and hospitality!! Special thanks also to all the wonderful people from around the Orlando, Florida area who came up that Tuesday evening to watch and meet me!! As a man who has eaten thousands of bowls of Pho from Northern to Southern Vietnam. As soon as I saw this, I knew Randy underestimated the power of the rice noodles. They sit SO heavy, even in a regular portion. Solid effort still!
Yes! I've had pho one time and I was extremely full very fast, it was crazy! It made 2 meals for me, so so so yummy!
Yep, those noodle are too much, I always order medium bowl.
Yeah that's about 3000 calories in noodles alone. Couple that with oxtail which is extremely rich and not many are going to make it very far past that.

I am Vietnamese myself, but I have to say I have never seen a fried egg in a bowl of pho. That’s weird, but the bowl of pho looks good!
That was what I was thinking too. This pho looked so different like they just added stuff in to make the challenge harder.

Yess foods can have variance you never known that? Idk who originally invented fried chicken but diff cultures have fried chicken and like fast food in korea is different than the same fast food chain in the US.
The noodles soaked up majority of the pho broth making them bigger. I'm impressed you beat the old record. Nice try attempting the second pho bowl.👏🏽

haha if you ever had homemade pho from Vietnamese people or are it in Vietnam you wouldn’t be saying that. The broth isn’t even cooked for 10 hours or more at these restaurants. Also no Viets even working or serving. Not authentic at all but it looks ok
No, its not, the egg are not supposed to be cooked like that, you put it in a small bowl, then pour hot broth on it, the york is slighly cooked so you can slurp it, not bite on the egg
and fried shallot ? Im a big fan of that but you will never see authentic Phở with fried shallot
and the herbs is lacking

Where I'm from pho and foe would be indistinguishable from each other. I dont agree that everyone should pronounce everything as it is said natively, people have accents depending where they from, as long as we understand each other that's OK

Next time if you're planning on doing this challenge, have them wait on making the second bowl until you're close to being done with the 1st bowl so it doesn't sit and the noodle get all soggy and puff up absorbing all that beef broth.

Ok, this may be a stupid question, but how does studying nutrition and being a World Class Eater work together? Since most of your food challenges seem to focus on high fats, carbs, and empty calories, how do you justify nutrition to your future clients?

(1) The person that beats the best time should not have to pay for the bowl, it should be free. (2) Not one freaking metal fork in the entire restaurant? I can go to any Pho joint (literally dozens) in my town and I guarantee they have a fork that they can provide to a customer upon request. (3) Great job Randy. Always a pleasure to see your show!

I can't tell the last time I saw you quit on a challenge, let alone one with over 50% of the time still left. I get that you chose to order two, but that's not the first time, and you still had 30+ minutes left. Congrats on setting the base challenge record though.
