    To me it's nice to see a decent quality car that doesn't a bunch of extra safety features lighting up and beep while you driver. Personally I think people need to learn to be their own safety feature and not rely on sensors to drive, nothing beats using your mirrors and actually taking a look at your blind spots. I will be adding this car to my test drive list, but that poor gas mileage is kinda a bummer

    This is a great car. I have now owned for just over 3 months. Many of you say it should go away and be replaced by the Genesis. I agree, the Genesis is a nice car but there is a huge price difference between it and the Sonata. In my case, I was driving an Infiniti G37, which I loved. I had to get a bigger car as my family has grown. The G was way to small. The Sonata, not much bigger. I considered an M37, but way to expensive for what you get as well as a stiff, uncomfortable ride. You get so many luxury and technology features in this car, considering the price. Sure it lacks some of the modern safety features, as mentioned in the video, but I neither need nor want that. This is a very comfortable and spacious car, lots of features and a great price.

      Hows the car holding up? I plan on buying a 2013.

      @abjee 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have a 2013, Azera Tech. Holding up great. The nice part is, a) the steering feel gets much better in the sports mode which kicks in automatically when you drive manual, and b) the slight knock when starting the car fixed itself after a Fuel Injection Service. I am an enthusiastic driver and I love this car in manual driving on hilly roads of east Tennessee (even with my baby in back seat).

    I bought my 2016 Base new . My wife and I agree it’s the nicest most pleasurable car we’ve ever owned to drive! I hope to keep it very long term. BTW Hyundai did refresh this model in 2015. Not sure what all they did but we do have the blind spot warning that works excellent.

      Have you seen the 2018-2021 Azera? Its beautiful, but its stuck in South Korea and other countries and might not come to ours sadly.

      I have the 2015 and have all the safety except for lane departure. This review doesn’t even make it look as luxurious as it is. I get 24/33 mpg. Every 10 full ups I use premium and I swear that has helped

    9:50 The only reason for that has to be a lot of people are still wondering if Hyundai is now as good as Toyota, Nissan, Ford for the same price. The warranty is clearly better.

      honestly this Azera, when I first saw it I didn't even know it was a Hyundai I thought it was the new Camry, then realized it wasn't, was in complete shock, I knew the Genesis sedan and coupe were marvelous but this car is not even in their lineup and it is still nice, I confused on whether to get the Genesis sedan or the Azera

    • @marcusmoore7911

      @@KColonelSanders405 I actually thought that it was the latest LaCrosse when I first saw it, because the person that I saw driving it had 20” wheels on his, he said that he went ahead and bought aftermarket wheels because tires for the 19” wheels that come standard on it cost more than 20”-22” tires which sounded logical.

    Recent graduate, hand me down car and sincerely even at the time this car came out it’s just always been outdated. How ever this car is very fun to drive and I think one of the better looking Hyundai cars from that decade.

    What a gorgeous car. To bad in 2014 as a new car it was to expensive for many. That interior is perfect in my opinion. AS long as the reliability is there, the shortcomings you mention are trivial.

    I really think Chris is great. Unlike so many others, he speaks slowly, doesn't stumble over his words, and gives you great personal insights. I test drove a new Azera and found the torque steer under hard acceleration, unnerving. It pulled so bad, I took it off my "buy" list. Anyone else experience this?

    • @joshuanishanthchristian5217
      @joshuanishanthchristian5217 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really. Dad took it over 100mph on an empty road once, and there was never an issue with torque steer.

    Received one of these as an Avis rental last weekend...the car had about 40,000 miles on it (I am guessing they were about to auction it, at least I would hope). My opinion of this car...it felt very run of the mill. I was not at all impressed with the interior, it felt like a larger version of the Sonata's at not at all luxurious. I did like the powertrain however and with the exception of the front grille, found the exterior attractive and even unique. I think the Azera was Hyundai's first bold move into near luxury and, like any first move, they hadn't quite hit the nail on the head. It's no wonder to me used ones sell at such substantial discounts.
    Meanwhile, the new Genesis is looking AMAZING! Progress is a good thing...

    I have a 2013, looks exactly like this one but has the chocolate interior, which I think makes it look way better. Its the only car Ive taken on long trips and didnt get uncomfortable in. My only real complaint with mine is the location of the power adapter plug for the rear seats.

    Bought an off-lease (18K) mile limited, 2 years ago. 53K miles, zero issues. Quiet, comfortable, powerful, okay ( 23.5 gpm over 10K miles ) fuel economy.
    I don't like: navigation system - limited upgrades from Hyundai. OEM tires spongy - I upgraded to MXV4 at 32K miles. Resale value: don't buy an Azera expecting reasonable trade value. Even Hyundai dealers low-ball you.
    I Rave about: Performance - very spirited acceleration, better than class braking and cornering. Sound System - fantastic. Panoramic sunroof, heated & cooled seats. Quiet & comfortable. ROOMY. 1st car I've ever owned where I LIKE the back seat.
    Wish it had: Rear seat AC controls. larger TIRES ( not wheels ). 8-speed trans instead of 6 for better fuel economy.

    I think the sales is because for just a bit more I can get a 3.8l engine. the 06-08 sonata had a 3.3 as well, great car, but since they stopped making sonata's with real engines in them, that leaves the azera to fill a gap most consumers no longer care about due to the advances in weaker engines and people not keeping cars long enough to need a more durable engine.

    • @Malte-Micha
      @Malte-Micha 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gas Is expensive in USA! I'm in the Bay area so this car would not be economical here! the MPG suck. The Sonata is made with a real engine! The Atkinson is a real engine! combined with electric one! your normal Machinist Mate wouldn't know that though! I can go 600 miles on a tank of fuel !! I have a Hybrid Sonata!

    • @GamerNxUSN
      @GamerNxUSN 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Malte Micha sure if economy is what youre after. I have never had a good time on the highway in a 4 cylinder and can barely pass anyone let alone be in the left lane safely in one.

      @abjee 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, this car should not replace the Genesis, as much as an Avalon should not replace the Lexus ES350. They are slightly different markets. But this car should get a Turbocharged Engine for sure, it will be a nice.

  • @slickflyguy
    @slickflyguy 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I test drove one today and was not impressed. The ride was a bit on the rough side and the electric steering was incredibly vague meaning you could steer it with your just your pinkie without any feedback from the wheel or road. Very disappointed with a car in that class of cars.

    • @abjee
      @abjee 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree, steering feel can be much better for its class. It is actually much better in the Sports Mode, so they know how to get it right. But I don't know why Hyundai does not make that standard.

      tenzin lhagyal You know, I find him boring too, but it's not in a bad way. His speaking voice kind of makes me pay a little more attention to what he's saying, and that means that I have to do very little rewinding during a video to pick up on an important point. Also, he reminds me of an old drinking buddy of mine, so that's a plus, as well!

    • @justrandomthings319
      @justrandomthings319 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      tenzin lhagyal He's sort of boring but strangely enough, I still enjoy his reviews. They're different from other reviewers where they tend to just regurgitate specs from the car website or rush through the features. He takes his time and gives his own opinion which I value more than someone reading me a fact sheet.
