    I inked my C4 yesterday and I’m loving it. Great shape and weight, a beautiful acrylic, better than that on pens that cost five times more. And the nib is just so smooth and reliable. Greetings, James.

    Good review, thanks! This may be my Christmas gift. :-) I like the idea of the shut off valve. Makes it travel friendly! Nice ink, too. :-)

    I also have a C4 M. Great pen. Also have a nice shading ink in mine. Enjoyed your details on the pen. Have you tried RO Gold Antiqua? Another great shading ink.

      Thanks. No, I haven’t tried that one, I’ll have to add it to the list.

    Had to come back here to share my experience with this C4. I'll be honest: it took me a while to pull the trigger on this pen. I'm a huge fan of Japanese-style eyedroppers, but I've got a number of Opus 88 pens in my collection, so getting this one felt kind of redundant. Also not that keen on the clip, but de gustibus et coloribus. In the end, my curiosity got the better of me. I've had this pen for a couple of weeks now, and I couldn't be happier. My experience with Moonman nibs hasn't always been the best, but lately they really seem to have gotten their act together--although rumor has it that they don't make their EF and M nibs themselves, unlike the F nib. I went for the EF and boy oh boy, does it write lovely and juicy. I'm normally a stickler for blue inks, but in this pen, I went with Diamine Garland, and I have to say, it's a match made in heaven. The C4 has been pretty much glued to my hand since it arrived. Such a delight to write with.

      Good to hear this, I'll have to give their EF a shot. The C4 has been an enjoyable writer for me.

    Great review, James. I just got mine but haven't inked, yet. The acrylic is gorgeous - so clear with no imperfections. The function of the pen is similar to the Pilot 823 but that is a vacuum filler. Perhaps more equatable to an Opus 88.
    Looking forward to writing with it.

    Stroopwafels are yummy. Kudos for the random Dutch word in there, James ;)
    I just ordered this pen, literally five minutes before I came across this video. Glad that you liked it.

    Have u worked out the ink capacity? It seems to be more than 2ml.

    That sealing mechanism... I've seen it on Opus 88, but not many other pens. Do you have any other examples that come to mind of pens that do that eyedropper + sealing rod mechanic?
    I don't even know how to put the proper phrasing into words. 😂

    • @JG3Reviews
      @JG3Reviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Opus is probably the most common at the moment. It’s also in some Japanese eyedroppers (lesser known, higher end like Eboya) and in a variety of vac-filled pens like the Pilot Custom 823 and PenBBS 456.

    TH-cam is so cruel. This video was 48 seconds old when I found it, and I was still too late to click the first like.
    I confess a prejudice against the government of China. Perhaps I should set that aside. Whether or not I order a Chinese pen I can't get through a day without sending them money.
    Nice video. The ink, too. As an empty-nester, things that remind me of the old days are always welcome. Chili queso, there's another one. Mmm, mmmm!

      Almost everything you own is in some capacity manufactured in china. No need to be overly pedantic when thinking about buying a pen. Buying a phone? Well most of its components are from china. Using the microwave? China. Manufacturing is a race to the bottom and China will always have its hand in the pot, no need to burden yourself with the ethical dilemma when its inevitable. Unless you live off the grid.

      @@juicykernels4008 Thank you for your kind words. The use of basic, sustainable, tools to craft prose is a reassuring thing. The nice people that go along with the way of ink an nib are a blessing.
      Have a great day, JuicyKernels. You've made mine brighter.

    Hi @JG3 ! This ink and pen combo seems too dry. I am not sure if you have mentioned that the new pen went through a cleaning procedure to remove any residual oil from manufacturing or assembly. Even so, the pen and the ink look fairly average! But hey, if this floats your boat.. A good approximation to this ink could be Rohrer und Klingner Alt Goldgrun.. That shades even better..

    • @iodboi
      @iodboi 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      OK, my bad, may be goldgrun isn't a close enough approximation. But that one shades fabulously.
