Mr. Kilmer? Have you ever think about having a channel on Spanish? I am not saying that you have to do it since it is difficult to have a translator and more like how things are right now. But it would be so good for some that only speak Spanish and are new to this country. With great information and teaching that you give translated into that language, it would be wonderful and even save some.

Most people passing off a clunker, will do a clean oil change first. I go straight to the COLOR of the Coolant, AT fluid, PS fluid. If they cared enough about those, maybe they cared about more obvious stuff too? Get a cheap OBD scan tool and interrogate for faults. Insist on a long drive, to reveal DTCs they may have cleared. Smooth IDLEING says more about the engine than does acceleration. does it idle smooth & quiet. Put a bobble-head-doll on top the engine. If its a dealer, does your state law require it to pass emissions?

The oil burning hypothesize sounds great and true but at the end of the day its not specifically caused from burning oil, it can be caused from burning ANYTHING

and if you put the paper towel in and it comes out clean and then you use a stick to get the paper towel in there further and it comes out oily that means the seller pre-cleaned the end of the tailpipe so it would appear okay when it's not.

Drove a 2013 Chevy Equinox I got stupid cheap because it was my parents. Never got to 100k miles and it had a rear main oil seal break (under warranty luckily), VVT solenoid went bad, fuel line leaking into the oil, and a cracked exhaust manifold. Oh yeah, and it was a year that that model burned oil like crazy. I will never get a GM vehicle ever again. It’s only Toyota, Honda, or Mazda from now on.

Bad. Means oil is making its way into the combustion chamber via a leak in piston rings etc. Oil's purpose is to lubricate the engine, you don't wanna run out of it.
