No interior camera, simple physics, entertaining gameplay loop with TONS of replayability… just what we needed. Finally, a simple, back-to-basics arcade racer for PC! How long has it been?
If you understand the past entries in the TXR franchise, here are a couple of constructive point's I'd like to make regarding your statements: 1. The game was always and has been a single player type of racing game. With how the SP system is made, races will not last more than 30 seconds. In the past titles such as the Drift series or ITC, Time attack races would've been the solution, but here? It follows the same formation as that of TXR 1, 2, 0, and 3: SP battles. And This isn't like TXR Online (R.I.P.) where everyone can freeroam around it and just ambush each other to a race. NOW if they revive the TXR Online system, that would be possible; but again - dialing back to my last point: it follows the mainline title's race system: SP battles. It's not conducive to Online gaming. 2. Past titles have already included non JDM cars into their line-up; and if you've seen videos of Japanese car culture, they do not discriminate with foreign cars at all; hell you'll see a lot of German, American, and European cars among Japanese car owners. Yes it is TOKYO Xtreme Racer, but it embraces the culture of cars WORLDWIDE. Going back to past games - both Shutoko Series & Drift series featured cars from the Foreign market. 3. The one thing I would agree is if you limit "multiplayer" functions to shared tuning and shared livery designs - mostly aesthetic & cosmetic. If the devs consider it, that would be good too. 4. This is EARLY ACCESS purchase build. Many who have earl(ier) access said only half the game's content is accessible - mostly concentrated on rivals and game features. It's not the full experience yet as they are collecting data and feedback from a lot of users of this day to consider adding them on the final release.
@@MyogiWarrior34 I understand the car thing my point is it’s dumb to complain about a game with a car list set in Japan I wasn’t discriminating… more or less trying to say no one should complain about the list as is and if they never added other cars in to the game it should be fine in my opinion.
@@MyogiWarrior34 there’s nothing wrong with it being mainly single player but in my option a multiplayer experience even at the most basic level should be mandatory especially for car games… especially when I think this game would be so perfect with it…
The original TXR series did not have multiplayer and they were great... This game coming out and straying too far from the original could potentially ruin it... I know they're COMPLETELY different genres but Look at Fallout 76...
@@NJX_ONewe actually get one game that's straying way too far from it's roots, and implement always online and various other modern gaming sheanigans as the icing on the cake the game in question was TDUSC
That's the reason why they did early access, they want feedback, we as customer for genki will give feedback for what we want. It will take time I'm sure genki will add what we want
Games without multiplayer survive forever. Multiplayer games disappear forever within a year or two. You want to spend time with people? Go outside. Want to play a game? This will be more entertaining than most of the unfinished bugged crap released by all the money grubbing studios today. Looking forward to another TXR. One of the few games and series that have stuck in my memory for years. The rest all forgotten for many reasons. They were forgetable.
Don't get why everyone is all up in arms over no online/multiplayer. The main-line series of the game have all been single player, the only 2 online versions of the game have been very short lived and spin-offs (to my knowledge, only lasting roughly a year before s server support was cut). The game progression and just how the online community is today wont make MP successful. Genki has been asked about multillayer/online multiple times, and they have said 'it is not a priority, we want to make a game that is a quality modern reboot of the series for the fans that have stuck by for 18 years. We will think about multiplayer on the next game if this sells well.' The same is said in terms of console ports: game sells well on Steam, they will look towards console licensing for ports. Also, i'd prefer a complete, working, all promised content day one game....instead of the always online, rampant crashing/poor optimization/buggy mess, overhyped/underdelivered, unblanaced, get 1/4 of the promised content at start and spend the next 1-3 years getting half of the rest of the game before dev support is cut and still not have all the promised content copy/paste cookie cutter games made today. We all complain about this and then ONE game comes out that goes back to how games were/should be made (no always online, full content day one, unique concept/content), and now we complain about it not being like every other game and swear the game will fail without online/always online. What are ya'll doing? Note: licensing costs is the primary factor with why the game has no EU/US manufacturers. Maybe the next game will have some if it sells well. Another note: saw a comment on here that TXR:Zero has online...as an owner of the game, it does NOT have online at all. All it has is single player and split-screen.
I think a lot of people vastly misunderstand just how committed the fandom is to Tokyo extreme race racer. I think a lot of us could care less whether the game had multiplayer. I know when I had import tuner challenge I didn’t play the multiplayer at all more than just a handful of times And even then it wasn’t all that good. It was an SP battles and time trials for parking area to parking area or specific junctions along the C1
I think that it’s definitely going to be a good game that I will definitely be grinding and enjoying but I feel multiplayer should be standard in 2025 especially considering the lack of good unique multiplayer racing experiences right now…
@@MxgicIQ nah bruv, they said they were testing the water first with this game, and then multiplayer next. its better for the dev to release a proper finished game rather than a half assed single and multiplayer game. tdu sc could learn a thing or two from this
@@MxgicIQ its pretty much confirmed from some interviews and sources from the game official discord. which makes sense, this is no high budget aaa game. so try to keep your expectation realistic. even if they do try multiplayer right now, it probably wont end well considering multiplayer was never the main point of the reboot. budget and time better spent on designing the game and optimizing it. it is a much better thing rather than stepping into some multiplayer online stuff that they are not sure going to work.
And the best part from not having multiplayer of any kind here, is like that you get a game that'll remind you the the times when games releasing without modern gaming sheanigans such as micro transactions, fomo, season passes, bugs & glitches that makes the game outright unplayable, and most importantly, no always online even on single player

I don't see the point anyway. TXR is a vibe you don't really get in mp context. Also 200 rivals to beat is already good and that's just the EA content. This is again not the kind of game you wanna grind for 200 hours >_>
Problem for the modern racing gamers. But not for the old school racing gamers like me. But still, they will implement it for the next title if this game's sales performance goes well in Steam's platform. This is from the Star Centurion interview with one of Genki's staff about the online multiplayer mode implementation.
I honestly believe it will be fine without multiplayer since txr is always known to have a great replay value with over more than 200 rivals and hopefully in the new version new game plus with extra challenging ai
For me Multiplayer is not a big loss. I've been craving for a new racing game with a solid campaign and doesn't rely on internet connectivity plus rammers and cheaters. Even if they plan to add multiplayer in a future it will depends how it would perform on sales giving Genki's limited budget. They're missing other things like cockpit camera. No Honda cars nor foreign car brands(at least for now) About the foreign cars... If you know japanese tuning history Japan have tuned many European cars that broke records on the Yatabe Test Track with Porsche cars, Ferraris, Lambos, DeTomaso heck even Pontiac with the Trans Am. A Manga series called Wangan Midnight There was a character who drives a black 911 at Wangan called the Black Bird. (reference to the Ruf CTR Yellow Bird) which also was in TXR 0 back on the PS2 as a wanderer and he was the hardest one to beat. So yeah it wouldn't feel out of place to have non japanese cars but let's give them some time and hope to TXR to successed so then can expand much beyond.
TXR did have Dodge Vipers in them so its not out of reach to expect other manufactures to be included. TXR is probably one of the first games i have spent 100s if not 1000s of hours playing until my parents had to take away and hide the PS2 for a few days. having that said, I wouldn't mind another element or feature to the game to be added such as multiplayer just to give it an updated feel. It doesn't have to be competitive, it could be some type of racer hub or even like a ghost feature when challenging rivals.
It’s better for it Alternatively: there will be a high chance a modder takes care of this if someone want to dedicate the time. It being on PC is the biggest advantage.
During the times in Forza & GT, I thought multiplayer was absolutely neccessary going forward for racing games, but then recently I revisited games like NFSU2 and solely only played campaign modes, I realized how much I couldn't care less about multiplayer, especially with the existence of mods (that now TXR is on PC).
You know what.... I was skeptical but recently online gaming has just sucked the fun out of gaming. Its no longer about fun, its about selling passes for cosmetics that most of the time arent that great. Plus the griefers and rammers on Forza and Newd for speed are abundant
I agree, I feel like the modern gaming industry has made multiplayer a standard. However on the other end of the spectrum some really popular indie games have stayed popular over the years due to the high replability value they hold. Idk I feel like it's entirely dependent on what direction the game sets itself in
@@TheRealdraudE if a game takes 10-12 hrs of gameplay to finish do you think that means it’s extremely replayable? Just curious. Especially if it’s a car game… Usually as we see in most racing titles that have end game if they AI aren’t absolutely busted the player usually just walks right over them, correct? Maybe leaderboards could definitely help with replay-ability…
@MxgicIQ reyplayability, meaning it has a reason for you to go back to the beginning and start over, difrent paths to reach the end, trying something you might have thought of the first time through but were too late into the game to try etc, in short a reason to keep going or try again. It's something alot of modern games lack because they substitute it with multiplayer, tbh its the reason why some games from the early 2000s still have cult followings
@@MxgicIQ its a 20 hour game, and the fucking early access is only have of the game. The rivals of EA is only 216 while the full game is gonna have 450. Idk why are you expecting a triple A content when the game is only 30 dollars.
Understandable no multiplayer at launch but later sounds about right cause especially a title of this amount of hype coming back they probably wanna take it slow ESPECIALLY Since its early access so things are definitely gonna be subject to change
So... I'll assume you meant the online multiplayer game. Multiplayer and online feature is a common thing in modern games. I understand we want to play this game with friends, especially in the Shuto Expressway. Genki is a small company, so its better to support and let them cook, especially when they open for feedbacks 👍 Against the norm is a not bad idea, we already got so many online racing games, even online only (NFS 2015, RIP The Crew, TDU:SC). Therefore, in my opinion, its an interesting take. But, I agree on livery and tuning sharing, since its going to help the game This game series is single player (some games has split screen multiplayer) since the first game, I'm not counting the mobile game and the charm is knowing rivals biography, there is a subtle story arc on bosses and analysis on the livery (Mine's Base made those kind of videos, some videos has Eng CC, I like their contents ngl) For the cars, TXR3, TXRD2 has europeans and american cars. The wangan scene has non-Japanese cars because western cars are faster back in the day and inspired Wangan Midnight. Lets hope TXR 2025 got good sales and they released more cars and features. I'm still buying this game 👍 And hey, if it ain't broken, don't fix it
Ask your comment about the other user asking for German and American cars it was a well-known fact that in the 80s and 90s all the way up until 2000s there was actually quite a few American cars and German cars specifically Porsche that could be seen late at night racing on the C1 loop and the Wangan, both Tokyo extreme racer zero and three actually had a huge number of American in German cars, Chevy Ford and Dodge all had staple cars in TXR3
Good to know it’s been a while but even if it were Japanese cars only I don’t think people should complain in my opinion. I feel like other vehicles would feel out of place in the setting to me depending on the selection…
Just recently finished Import Tuner Challenge and had an amazing time playing it. If this new entry is anything like the last one. I'm 1000% gonna love it.

In response to people mentioning the lack of American and German cars, the old TXR games had the Dodge Viper. Also, if you're familiar with the real stories of the Wangan, the Midnight Club Porsche 911 was the king of the loop in the 90s. Also, those of us who played the game in the early 2000's could care less about a multi-player mode. It would be cool, for sure... but not a deal breaker for us.
I also like to say that as much as Genki wanted American & European cars to be included in the game, is that their licensing we're being pain in the ass (and probably expensive as well might I add) from their own words back in the FuelFest demo
honestly i wounltd mind the game having multiplayer but at the same time id be fine with it being singleplayer only since the original games were never online either meaning genki took the roots format which i wish more devs did with their ip's so far genki has brought as much nostaglia back as they could remastered songs from 3 and zero from what i can tell returning crews etc
It's a good thing that there will be NO online mode imo....and I'm pretty sure all the fans of the first txr on dreamcast and txr zeron on the ps2 have the same opinion about the online multuplayer :)
No multi-player mode? No problemo. It's not going to stop me from buying it. If you want it, write a petition, gather enough and good enough reasons to have it but don't expect the price of $30.00 to stay the same if the inclusion of multi-player is possible.
i hope you are not mad at the people getting mad about your opinion with online thing but as we can see the last thing i want txr to be is like forza or motorshit soulless festival DOGSHIT but also adding online would extend the life of this game for sure but the only online thing i can think of is just lobby to roam with ur friends which i don't mind at all tbh (we are not gonna talk about solar crown cus we know)

Love racing games, but never liked playing multiplayer in them (salty forza/gran turismo rammers or cheaters ruined multiplayer for me). Many of us dont need multiplayer to have fun. TXR has always had great replayability to me using different cars to play through the game. Also foreign brands are in their older titles as well. So a porsche or mustang is not a weird idea to add to the game.
@@Murkelsable the cars, I agree with… just saw someone complaining about the car list being bad currently by not having others which I disagreed with as the list is fire imo…I think a single player off line mode is great but an additional lobby system would appeal to a larger audience and keep others around longer.
If they took the wangan midnight model of making ghosts for everyone based on their analysed model, and have their "ghost" race everyone else when challenged. That's good enough of a multiplayer to me.
I would just like to see like 30 player servers no Q system just servers you can hop in and race, cruise, park etc. I wouldnt even want to do actualy races, just groups of cars hammering the highway would be fun.
i have to play multiplayer everyday commuting to work. except its a real car. kids can keep the multiplayer fortnite battlepass grindfest. im already grinding irl.
I only made a comment someone bringing up we need other cars except JDM cars only because they were complaining about not just enthusiastically saying we need it… obviously the more cars the better but complaining about the current car list didn’t make sense to me hence why I though it was “brain dead” bad take by me though at least with how it was worded but I def think the car list is far from something to complain about currently…

It's 2025 at least a hosted Multiplayer is GOOD ENOUGH. for $30 I'm just gonna feel the nostalgia factor? without any worthy new features? damn. Just a personal gripe: I'm already disappointed seeing 2D drawn characters. Aa least make the notable characters like White Charisma and Jintei with actual 3D character designs but no. Okay. TXR is one of the racing games I'm hoping will add something new to the racing game genre this damn dying genre. A simple maybe yet visual novel style dialogues, we can talk to characters and befriend them OR better yet we can pick a male or female gender and depending on our gender their dialogue changes. OR we can establish friendships or relationships with those characters. Going beyond the idea of "just a racing game" and more of a semi visual novel with racing I MEAN they've been doing it for years now. TXRD2 has a friendship system where once we establish friends with a racer we can "Borrow" their cars maybe something like that would be nice to see in this new title I mean it's early access so who freakin knows what else they'll add. No multiplayer forever with a price comparable to Assetto Corsa Evo would most likely kill the series. I very much understand that Genki is a small company, in fact for the past almost 2 decades they are merely a support studio, where bigger game devs like SEGA and Bamco pay Genki for additional workforce on their games. However, the truth is, if TXR isn't able to compete with other games, it either stagnates or dies out. In my opinion, implementing split-screen and LAN multiplayer would already do wonders. Allowing players to host their own large multiplayer servers would be even better, since I have no confidence in Genki being able to host the servers themselves with absolutely zero prior experience (which is what KT Racing did with TDU:SC, and we all know how that went). With all that said, I should also note that I am not remotely close to being a game developer, so whatever I had just written might just be schizopost material since I based it off my limited knowledge of this topic.
yeah surely ac evo has SP content that is comparable to TXR to justify its price tag. Remember, base Asseto Corsa only took off due to modding, and without those it would be an empty fucking husk, and the modding is like a "spice" in order to save a dogshit dish. Dont forget with the shitty server issues of AC Evo as well lmao. Also, future titles are guaranteed to have multiplayer, so good way to tell you didnt make any research, might even be added to TXR 2025.
@@renelite7181 Fair point on the price, my bad for forgetting the contexts behind the price tag. What is your source on "future titles guaranteed to have multiplayer"? Don't get me wrong, that sounds really great, but I don't think Genki can afford to GUARANTEE that. "Might even be added to TXR 2025", with a huge emphasis on the "might". I have no intentions to piss on the name of Genki or TXR, I'm just highly skeptical of their capability to provide an online multiplayer experience because I don't believe they have the cash for it. I was wrong in my original comment, Genki does in fact have experience working with online multiplayer, with ITC and Shutokou Battle Online. Server hosting in both cases were outsourced, so it's only a matter of money to pay for servers, not experience. The way I see it for TXR to have online multiplayer is to let players host their own servers. Genki could drop a split-screen and LAN update for the game plus drop a dedicated server software for the game, thus having multiplayer at the minimum cost and resources.

If you understand the past entries in the TXR franchise, here are a couple of constructive point's I'd like to make regarding your statements:

So we are in the PS2 age?
That's the reason why they did early access, they want feedback, we as customer for genki will give feedback for what we want. It will take time I'm sure genki will add what we want
Games without multiplayer survive forever. Multiplayer games disappear forever within a year or two. You want to spend time with people? Go outside. Want to play a game? This will be more entertaining than most of the unfinished bugged crap released by all the money grubbing studios today. Looking forward to another TXR. One of the few games and series that have stuck in my memory for years. The rest all forgotten for many reasons. They were forgetable.
Couldn’t have said it better . This game is all about single player experience
I think that it’s definitely going to be a good game that I will definitely be grinding and enjoying but I feel multiplayer should be standard in 2025 especially considering the lack of good unique multiplayer racing experiences right now…
I think this game would be PERFECT for multiplayer and that’s just where my frustration stems from as well…. Thank you for your feedback on the video!

Yall would be happy asf if it got multiplayer. Have a mind of your own
For me Multiplayer is not a big loss. I've been craving for a new racing game with a solid campaign and doesn't rely on internet connectivity plus rammers and cheaters. Even if they plan to add multiplayer in a future it will depends how it would perform on sales giving Genki's limited budget. They're missing other things like cockpit camera. No Honda cars nor foreign car brands(at least for now)
About the foreign cars...

Alternatively: there will be a high chance a modder takes care of this if someone want to dedicate the time.

Understandable no multiplayer at launch but later sounds about right cause especially a title of this amount of hype coming back they probably wanna take it slow ESPECIALLY
Since its early access so things are definitely gonna be subject to change
That game has so much single player content in EA that you probably will not miss multiplayer. 200 rivals, car customization, +50 cars...
So... I'll assume you meant the online multiplayer game. Multiplayer and online feature is a common thing in modern games. I understand we want to play this game with friends, especially in the Shuto Expressway. Genki is a small company, so its better to support and let them cook, especially when they open for feedbacks 👍
Against the norm is a not bad idea, we already got so many online racing games, even online only (NFS 2015, RIP The Crew, TDU:SC). Therefore, in my opinion, its an interesting take. But, I agree on livery and tuning sharing, since its going to help the game
This game series is single player (some games has split screen multiplayer) since the first game, I'm not counting the mobile game and the charm is knowing rivals biography, there is a subtle story arc on bosses and analysis on the livery (Mine's Base made those kind of videos, some videos has Eng CC, I like their contents ngl)
For the cars, TXR3, TXRD2 has europeans and american cars. The wangan scene has non-Japanese cars because western cars are faster back in the day and inspired Wangan Midnight. Lets hope TXR 2025 got good sales and they released more cars and features. I'm still buying this game 👍
And hey, if it ain't broken, don't fix it
Ask your comment about the other user asking for German and American cars it was a well-known fact that in the 80s and 90s all the way up until 2000s there was actually quite a few American cars and German cars specifically Porsche that could be seen late at night racing on the C1 loop and the Wangan, both Tokyo extreme racer zero and three actually had a huge number of American in German cars, Chevy Ford and Dodge all had staple cars in TXR3
Good to know it’s been a while but even if it were Japanese cars only I don’t think people should complain in my opinion. I feel like other vehicles would feel out of place in the setting to me depending on the selection…

TXR is a fun game since the first one
@adlibbed2138 I totally believe that!
It's a good thing that it doesn't have a multiplayer. Less things for them to worry about.
honestly i wounltd mind the game having multiplayer but at the same time id be fine with it being singleplayer only since the original games were never online either meaning genki took the roots format which i wish more devs did with their ip's so far genki has brought as much nostaglia back as they could remastered songs from 3 and zero from what i can tell returning crews etc

OR we can establish friendships or relationships with those characters. Going beyond the idea of "just a racing game" and more of a semi visual novel with racing I MEAN they've been doing it for years now.
