A very spiffy set. I’m picking up a lot of tips from watching you paint wood effects which I think gives way better results than relying on decals - there’s a randomness to the look of the wood panels you model, that decals can’t seem to offer. Maybe the trick is to use the decals very sparingly, such as for a single panel or one bulkhead in a cockpit, or on a small section of fuselage, I don’t know ... yet. This is a journey of discovery I’m enjoying. Until now, I’ve only modelled WWII aircraft and AFVs, which are my main area of interest. Then awhile ago I bought a Wingnut Wings kit and here I am.
An interesting set. Thanks for sharing. I've got a WnW Albatross in the stash. I've seen lots of beautiful builds showing the wood on the fuselage. As always hoping you are well.
Great review. I was totting up each item in my head as you took them out, and I came up with a total of well over £40! Might have to invest in this, just to give me some options. Thanks, Jason.
Jason, are you using this solution box on the B 17 build? You mentioned using a new paint system on this build. Can you tell me what it is? I’m leaning toward ammo by MiG products. Their Spitfire solution box has worked well so far. To be honest I prefer acrylics over lacquers. They just seem safer especially where I’m introducing my grandchildren to the hobby. Your video catalog is tremendous, thanks for all your hard work. I’m looking forward to building my B-17 along with you.
Hi John, I am trying out the Mig A-stand paint system for the bare metal and primers. otherwise I am using a combination of umbral and ICM paints I have in stock. look out for my first build update soon
