This is what you get when an author decides to go absolutely unhinged with their ideas. That's kind of why the show seems to be all over the place with settings and sense of feel, they just wrote whatever intrusive thoughts came to mind, and somehow it worked 😂

In the week following an episode I usually end up watching no less than 10 different reactions to it (yeah. yeah, nothing to brag about, but what can I say? I enjoy it).
You two are consistently ranked in the top spots for the most enjoyable ones to watch (for me), because you always seem to have a blast watching the show and commenting it.
The hard part was for the floor….BUT everyone knows the truth 😂😂

18:10 btw, it's not surprising that this episode feels fast-paced. To put it in perspective, the previous episodes covered approximately 3 manga chapters each (approx. 60 pages), whereas this episode adapted a total of 4 full chapters plus 5 pages from a fifth chapter (approx. 85 pages)

The craziest part of this show is that unless there's some time skip we haven't noticed, everything so far from Episodes 1 to 9 have happened in just a week or two. All of their classmates must be going mad trying to figure out how Okarun's gone from the nerdy bullied kid to somehow getting caught naked in the hallway with not one but two of the hottest girls in school.

It says a lot about how anime be treating women like damsels you can't even pinch or they'll break, that you guys expected Okarun to just save Aira at the start lol. Most shounen "powerful" girls have been given the treatment of damsels in distress even when they're introduced as competent - just so the dudes could save them. They'll give them a bit of shine and then bam, back to damsels. So much so that we unconsciously expect for this phenomenon to happen each time a strong girl in introduced.

Was it just me or did the animation quality drop a bit this episode?
It’s not just you; dandadan’s production schedule was a bit of crunch to ensure that all the episodes were done (and available for multiple language dubs) by July. Because of this, episode 8 took the biggest hit of this crunch. 9 looked much better but you could tell it was affected by the crunch as well. Looking at the great directorial flourishes that were in this episode, you sort of get the impression this episode was supposed to be a high tier episode that was shy of the extra time it needed to look as good as ep 1, 4, or 7.
At the end of the day however, I’m not gonna complain too much: given the production woes, ep 9 still did a competent job with making the action look and feel frenetic/stylish despite the hiccups. Looks like we’ll be back to top visual form next week; hell, next week’s episode is being treated as a priority ep despite today’s being more action-centric 😂

And I agree with everything you said it was more an observation than a complaint, it was still an all around great episode of anime but as a fan it's frustrating that these production teams constantly don't get the time they need to make their visions shine like they should.

@@Stonewielder I totally get you; and yea, the visuals should be held to any sort of criticism when warranted so point away. It really does suck how compromised the anime industry has become that even high-tier shows like JJK s2 and Dandadan experience production woes. In dandadan ep 9's case, you can tell how much it was trying to be on ep 4's quality; and while it did achieve the scale, manic energy, and even some of that visual flair, the episode definitely could have used just a wee bit more time in the oven

The shot reuse of Momo, Turbo Okarun and Acro-silky in the orange-lit hallway sort of came off as a purposeful joke, given how Momo’s weak knees to hearing any utterance of Ken Takakura’s name led to a failed attack. Though to be honest, I think it’s purposefulness as a joke is debatable given they also reused the same shot of Aira binding Nessie’s tail sooooooo 🤷♂️
It’s pretty clear Dandadan’s production schedule was not smooth during their journey to have their first cour complete before airing. Regardless, this was a much better effort than episode 8 (and was able to look stylish to boot despite some flaws), which is probably going to hold the title as its weakest-looking entry
