Thank you for the tour; it was useful to watch; you reminded me that I need to prune my fruit trees (this is the first / second winter for them) - I'll need to do some research before doing it though. Good tip about covering the carrots - I'll give that a go. Thanks, and have a great Christmas 🙂
I do the same with rhubarb; give it 3cm of my compost along with the rest of my beds. I'm with you 100 on enviromesh, as carrot fly round here is awful. I've loads of leeks still in, plus beetroot, winter cabbage sprouting broccoli & brussels sprouts. Florence fennel's still growing in the polytunnel, along with winter salad leaves & spinach. Chard has mostly survived the frost. Broad beans are just showing in cell trays, as I never got them in the ground in October. Funny thing: My asparagus tops are still green, so I've not cut them down yet. Need to get my compost spread on the beds next week, especially in the polytunnel.
Awesome 🤩 I’ve definitely a bit more weeding and strimming needed but can’t wait for next year to get cracking again / I would love a proper poly tunnel / may be next year 😊
Really nice tour, this year was not a really good year. It started really late but than it exploded with some vegetables. Last week I harvest my last paksoi and tattoo. And there a still all kind of cabbages, green sellery and chard. The apples and blue berries where fantastic. I have a question for you. You have so beautiful paths of grass and I always thought that was so much work (so I still have stonepaths but I don’t like them), how do you do the work in de summer when it grows so fast?
Good point about growing your own is always better than buying if you can, environmentally and taste wise even it you can only grow a limited amount. Herbs are particularly easy😊
I just picked 4 different varieties and I can’t remember what I went for but I did get them from Suttons online as I know their plants 🪴 are good quality albeit not the cheapest
The enviromesh definitely helps but I still lost my kale 🥬 at the end of last season but it did a good job up until then 😊 tbh it also helps if you regularly harvest kale leaves then the white fly can’t take hold which is where I let the side down

Tatto is tatsoi 😅
We mow the grass regularly which works well 😊 🌱
@ thanks, do you use the grass clippings as mulch?

My brassicas were ruined by white fly this year
