We did a van tour 1.5 year ago which many of you might've seen! It's a lot longer and more awkward 😀 you can watch it here ⬇⬇ th-cam.com/video/SoMlLdPP5Vk/w-d-xo.html aaand if you'd like to support our small channel, you can buy us a wee whisky 🥃🥃 it will help us with our monthly software costs and fuel 🥰 thank you so much for all your support! www.buymeacoffee.com/ardview
Those shelves and plants in the front made me gasp! If you get into a wreck, your head can move around further than you think. And those plant pots. I subscribed even though I'll have to close my eyes at times!
I think I found my bed solution. Wow, thanks so much. I have a question: I have never seen a high bed built over the cockpit. Is it because people don't want this, or are there other reasons not to build it over the driver seats? Your wood furniture is beautiful!
Aw thanks, glad you found some Inspo 😁 Putting a bed above the cockpit wasn't really an option for us. There was lots of ambulance related stuff up there which we didn't want to deal with so we just boarded it up. But I don't see why you couldn't put a bed up there. I haven't seen anyone to it ether though, not sure why 😁 What kind of van are you building?
I absolutely love the aesthetics. Most of the vans I've seen so far try to look "modern". And they are mostly white or with very light color palet. I LOVE IT!! BTW I was going to buy furniture but you convinced me to make it myself and make it look old. Thanks ❤
Aw thanks, glad you like what we have done with our wee house 🤩 Definitely build things your self, its cheeper and you can make it your own 🤩 Also you can probably fit more in. Worth giving it a bash ☺
Aw thanks 😁 Not to worry we have just arrived back at Calum's parents house where we keep our whisky stocks, so the van is all loaded up with more bottles 😁
Hello! I loved your video. I was wondering where you get your Whiskey barrels? How would I go about getting some? What do you do in the Whiskey industry?
Hi, glad you liked the video 😁 If you live in Scotland then barrels are pretty easy to get your hands on. Not sure about else where🤔 I (Calum) work in Marketing and cask curation for Adelphi and Ardnamurchan Distillery so I can get my hands on casks pretty easily. But the best way to get your hands on casks is to visit a cooperage. There are many in Scotland. You can buy old used casks which are pretty cheap. You can also just buy the staves. Where are you based?
Laughed so much at 9:10! 😁 Loved this tour! It's amazing to see the personal touches and beautiful design (The dining table is really stunning!) You've built a gorgeous home!
Thank you for sharing your home with us, i really like everything about it, its brilliant. Its a good job neither of you are heavy people id be scared of the bed but your both slim so no worries. Fantastic build tho, you both should be extremely proud of yourselves. Stay safe on your travels. 😊
AW thanks for your lovely comment, glad you like our van 😍 I don't think we would want to put much more weight on our bed, would probably be ok but still wouldn't trust it 🤩
Thanks for your comment 🙂🙂 the temperature is definitely higher up in the bed, I (Roksana) spent a few nights on the couch downstairs as it was too hot for me 😁 We spent most summers on the west coast of Scotland so we haven't really experienced the hot weather. It's more of a problem in the winter when we have our wood burner stove on - we made a few times a mistake of adding "one more log" into the fire 😂😂 Depends where we are next summer we may need to convert our couch into a temporary bed!
Hahaha, love this!! Definitely not. Calum's accent is a bit all over the place, he grew up in Ayrshire but his parents are from Glasgow but then he needed to mellow it down living in Edinburgh 😂😂😂
Love the rusticness! We really want a log burner but it makes the insurance cost ridiculously high.. is that the same with you? How do people manage to pay with having a log burner? 🤔😵💫
Hi, we didn't even think about the insurance if we are being honest 😬 But it will well worth having the fire, gives a much better heat than a diesel heater
I watched your most recent video today and wondered what you did for sleeping space. I thought your sofas might fit together which would mean setting up the bed every evening. I came to this video for the tour and your sleeping space is brilliant! Easily tucked away and you don’t even have to make the bed. Do you ever sleep outside? It would mean moving the mattress and bedding but if you were in a super hot place it would be nice. ~ I love your van. My favourite part is how you did it yourselves with reclaimed and reused materials wherever possible. It looks so comfortable and a peaceful atmosphere. The little woodstove is the perfect touch for chilly weather. Did you buy it ready made or have it made to your specs? I love the scent of wood smoke and the little window in the firebox is nice. Well done!
Hi ❤️ thank you for such a beautiful comment 🥰 we love not making the bed everyday, not sure if we could be bothered moving around the cushions etc. the only thing that is a nightmare is changing the sheets 😂😂 We like to sleep outside when we have our awning up. The stove is from a small family company called Outback Stoves. We love it so much 😍😍
You did such a great stuff with this conversion, really really impressive! 😍 Makes me wanna get a van xD Technical question - how do you think, whats the max weight your bed construction would hold?
We are super happy with it 🔥❤️ you should definitely get a van!! We will help you out 😂😂 I can ask Calum when he gets back from work but I’m sure it can hold a lot of weight!! It’s a pretty good construction 😂 it’s more the space that might be a problem, especially with your two big doggos 😂😂❤️❤️
@@ardview-vanlife I was already thinking about some rising bed system so they could use ram to take all my space so I could peacefully sleep on the floor xD This is really tempting, the Van 😍
Hey! we are currently very broke 🤣we left our full-time jobs end of October and we've been living off our savings from the job + we sold part of our whisky collection. Still trying to figure out how to make a living as nomads but with not much success yet. We are back to Scotland in couple of weeks as Calum got a seasonal job, continue to live in the van and save us much as we can for the next adventure 🥰
WOW! We love your Van. Absolutely gorgeous, smart, lovely, personally and cosy van build.
So much clever details ❤
Keep on going Amigos🥳
Thanks friends!! 😁❤️ we cant believe we never actually been inside of your cosy van but hopefully soon!

Finally got the chance to watch this. What an awesome design layout. Totally stunning and unique. Love it. Take Care Both ❤
Thank you! We are still so happy with the van 😍😍
Never seen a van design like this - fabulous -
I especially love the woodburner ❤
Aww thank you! It is definitely our favourite part of the van. Keeps us cozy :)
What a great conversion build! Love the rustic style decor. Thanks for sharing :)
AW thanks glad you like it :) We are currently doing some improvements :)
I really love the bed setup. It's very unique 😊 Also can I ask how it is during summer? Is it very hot sleeping there?

I'm sure you've heard this many times, but there's no mistaking on the Scottish accent! 😀 Not the Finnish accent either! 😂🤣
Hahaha, love this!! Definitely not.

NGL the intro, and especially the scottish accent got me to sub :D
Haha that’s why he got me to go out with him 😂😂😂 welcome! 😁👋🏻
I really like your build. Very smart, practical.
Aw thanks very much. We love our wee home 😁😁
How have you got under 2k subs... you deserve 200k
Aw thanks 😁 I think we we probably don't post enough but we still enjoy making our wee videos, that's good enough for us 😁
Well done 👏 really beautiful build 👏.
Stay safe and well out there 👍 🤙
Thank you so much! 🥰
That bed is fucking genious
Cheers, works for us :)
Love this rustic style ... this is the most homely best self built van I've seen... so good.. very well done.
Thanks again, we really love our wee house too 😁 Been our home now for over 2 years 😁
@@ardview-vanlife Looking forward to seeing more of ur travels!! 😊
Hello from USA Great Build
Aw thanks
Well done both of you for this beautiful van, I love it.

@@ardview-vanlife but is your insurance ridiculously expensive?..
@@KateAshworth Yeah I think its just under a grand a month but that's more due to the size and weight of the van I think🤔
@ardview-vanlife wow, far too much for us to afford lol. Managed to get ours to £1230 for the year, but no log burner 😏
Fantastic bed idea guys! 🇨🇦
Thank you 😍 Giving you a 👋👋 from the west coast of Scotland
