Absolutely brilliant. I'm fairly a novice in music, having been playing bass for just a few years, but I've fallen deeply in love with Shergold's massive, almost imposing design. So British, so elegant. So strong too! But after scouring the web for the last year and a half, I never found the opportunity to own a Shergold, bass nor guitar. The original are so umbelievably rare to find. I think that all the Shergold geeks around the world would be thrilled to have the company reissue old-style designs, Masqueraders, Cavaliers, but Marathons and Modulator basses too! I just hope for a more expanded future for Shergold, and maybe, one day, I will be able to own one of your basses, if you'll start producing them once again, carrying on Golder's voyage. Cheers!
I saw another video on a copy Shergold guitar and , not being familiar with the brand at all, wanted to find out more. THIS video demonstrated that the SOUNDS I am hearing are OUTSTANDING!!! I'm not the biggest fan of the looks but the SOUNDS are really terrific!!!! Many thanks for the demo and greatest of success with the new brand!!!!!
I have some bits knocking about somewhere here inc a couple of necks & pickups (even a prototype red special copy), got them from the new owner of Jack Golders business after he passed
I still have mine from 1979/80, I bought it from Chase music in Manchester for £210. Barney actually walked in whilst I was playing. The pick up control is different on the original than this one, where the pickup control for each pickup is humbucker all the way back, middle is coils out of phase and all the way forward is single coil. I don't know whether Barneys was setup like yours or like mine.
I have an original Shergold Masquerader, bought it for about £189 about 40 years ago (gosh, that was a lot of money then!). I'll never sell it for any money!
So does this herald a Shergold custom shop run of Shergold guitars which actually fully resemble real Shergolds !!!??? An affordable production run would be even better.. It wasn't cool that the only available true clone of a great British guitar was a LTD ED run of exclusive high priced Far Eastern Copies... It's all very well the owner of the company flaunting his dream Shergold, while denying the same opportunity to aspiring fans of the authentic historic UK guitar. The Eggle Shergolds are fine instruments, but not the accurate looking replicas of these historic quirky guitars now so desired by guitar lovers. The initial excitement about the resurrection of Shergold soon faded into disappointment. All that was wanted was better constructed original looking guitars with advanced modern materials and technology, to improve on the flaws of the 70s and 80s Shergolds - at a fair price point. Now that you have a much longed for NOS guitar to cherish, perhaps you can at last consider the positives of manufacturing new improved authentic clones alongside the high quality Eggle designed re-imagined instruments. Thank you.

Brings back memories of drooling over Shergold, Westbury, Hondo and Satelite guitars in mum's Grattan catalogue in the 70's and early 80's.

I have two original Masqueraders, a six and a twelve string. The pickup selector is on the bottom on both of mine.
