Hi, I work in CT Shirts in London and just wanted to let you know that if you ask for "dress shirt" in Charles Tyrwhitt you will get an evening shirt the one with the bib:) The shirts you are showing are formal shirts. Just so there is no confusion.

Hmm, Hugo Boss, Kamakura or Brooks Brothers ... not covered. :-( Was looking forward to that.
Idk about kama kura but fyi brooks brothers fit well but if youre skinny get milano fit, theyre made very large so you gotta try a bunch on, quality is solid and among the best for creasing, i could wear one of my brooks shirts 3 times in a week with minimal to no creasing on the arms etc its awesome, Hugo boss are hit and miss, get the thicker shirts from them and theyre high wquality and they have a ton of different sizes
Or Calvin Klein, Joseph abboud, Kenneth Cole, Egara, Pronto uomo, JOE by Joseph abboud, Esquire, the reason. I list so many is because all of these or in the 30 to 100 dollar mark depending on sales.
@@colebruce4490 true. If youre willing to spend a little more, go for Brooks Brothers made to measure shirts. Their non iron shirts are the bomb though; go Milano Source: i work there
I have bought some expensive shirts that lasted four times as long as cheap ones - while making me look much better. To me, $150-$200 is affordable IF quality is excellent. I am wondering how well the shirts of the brands you mention hold up over time.
The most important thing with shirts is the following: there is essentially no need to pay more than 100 bucks for an OTR shirt, as it is highly unlikely it will fit perfectly. For 100-150 you can get really nice Made to Measure shirts. I would definitely not pay 200 bucks for an OTR shirt unless it was Isaia, Finamore, etc. I think that its much easier in Europe to find quality tailors because in Europe (UK, Italy, Germany and Austria) we have a much stronger tailoring tradition and men are much more conscious about how their clothes fit. I work in a 5 star superior hotel and whenever we have gala events or exclusive conferences, the European ceos, executives are always dressed immaculately and the US colleagues unfortunately always look like they haven't bought new suits since the 80s. There are exceptions to rule of course but I'd say 80% of the time its true. Its nothing against America, but I think that style (not fashion) is much more engrained with us across the pond. Love your channel though. Seem like an earnest kid and have a great sense of style. Keep it up!
Meaning that you don’t understand demographics. Hint business men are hardly a metric for the fashion tastes of a society. Business men in Europe come from a very different environment than Americans who come from the WASP tradition. Per Capita well off Americans are far more likely to own nice things compared with Europeans. Just see how much of topic brands are sold in America vs Europe at each income point.
stefano giovannini What part is unclear? The research is clear as to who buys designer wear. It’s American more than others. They buy more per capita than Europeans. Meaning that the statement is nonsense on its face. European designers consider Americans their most important customers.
@@miketheman4341 I am not sure what part of my reply shows poor English grammar, just what you did write is not clearly expressed. From what environment do European businessmen come compared to American WASPs? Anyway not all US businessmen are of WASP heritage. The original poster is referring to business attire style, so why wouldn't American and European businessmen CEOs etc be a valid metric?
Although very conservative, I have always found that the oxford cloth button down from Brooks Brothers and/or Gitman Brothers/Allen Edmonds good choices.
Thank you, being a minimalist means every thing I own has meaning and genuine value. I’ll order hall madden and edit this comment once I’ve worn it enough.
First time seeing any of your videos. I found the way you tuck your shirts in odd. It’s all bunched at the back. If you try the military tuck you halve the excess material per side. Looks much better. Thank you for the great info on brands you’ve tested and stood the test of time.
Henry Hillton-Taylor saw your post. I think one of his recommendations will be Bonobos and he will be right. the Jetsetter Wool trousers are awesome and some others they have including jeans and chinos.. try and find a guideshop near you and you can try on everything and nail down your size. I believe they have 4 different size categories. straight, athletic, slim, tailored.
Al Sharpton I agree about the premium chinos. too pricey. although the Jetsetter Wool Trouser at 198 is a great trouser. Italian wool. and you can sometimes find a 20% off coupon online. want to get your size just right with these. although I'm a slim in their chino, travel jean and weekend warrior I was a tailored fit in the wool trouser.
I think I'm gonna give Twillory a try and maybe Tie Bar next. Twillory shirts right now are $50 when you buy 2 or more. Free shipping and free returns and exchanges. Even if they don't live up the the hype for $99, I'm sure they will for $50. I'm pretty excited to say the least.
On your advice I’m giving Ledbury a go. Look fantastic and I’ve ordered 2. I’m uk based and work in an office so am giving the french cuffs a go too. Thanks for the advice.
Another great video, I enjoy my Charles Tyrwhitt though! For me they fit well and get the job done, and superb customer service. You should tackle neckties. $20 Tie Bar vs $300 Brioni? Knot styles and when to use them? Materials, wool, silk, etc.
You look like a thin guy and I've found that Charles Tyrwhitt is cut for larger men. Do you wear super slim? I just always feel like I'm swimming in fabric...
I agree with you! Charles Tyrwhitt is the only shirt I buy for dress shirts. I get about 5 years of wear and I love their fabric. Some of the brands he likes were at the bottom of my list. I'm 6'2 and 225 yoked and Tyrwhitt shirts in the extra slim fits me like tailored shirts off the rack! #Tyrwhitt4e
Hey Lucas...I have about 5 BB dress shirts (all button down collars). I like BB because they have like 3 or 4 varieties fit and you can get the exact sleeve length (I wear 16 1/2 x 35). If you go to the outlets they usually have "unusual colors/prints-not so desirable" and the 34/35 sleeve length (which is a bit sort for me). I like the exact sleeve length. They are the "no iron" variety (which I press off anyway). You can usually fids a sale a few times a year. However, I really do not know what is going on with the "pandemic impact" and the supposed "bankruptcy". They have "casual dress shirts" there like the Oxford cotton (usually in like s/m/l) and if you are lucky one of these sizes will fit. I would recommend BB, especially on sale. I think they are reasonably good quality (for today's manufactiuring, etc.) and reasonably priced (especially during sale. Note too, Dillards usually have 1/2 price sales (for sure around 1st of year) on dress clothes including the "Gold Label" line of shirts. I would recommend both of these. I don't know if I would spend more on a 'dress/dress casual shirt" than these. I would like to try an Eton or Kamakura sometime but with the lockdown, there is really nowhere special to get dressed up for. I hope this helps.
Waited for this video for a while. have tried many of the companies because of your recommendations. I agree about Hall and Madden and Spier and Mackay. although I wish Spier and Mackay would size down the collar a bit. pretty large. I have to say I do like the fit and styles of Charles Tyrwhitt. haven't worn them long enough to know about there longevity or how they will hold up in the long run. they fit great. Thanks for the great videos.
Very informative and thorough. The various price points was also very helpful. I'll be researching some of these dress shirts further for my next buy. Thanks.
Bill's Khakis carries a decent line of shirts. More business and casual and weekend casual. However, they "cut and sewn" in the US. The pants are of very good quality as well.
Great video, have really been waiting for this one. Can u please further explain why u wouldn't recommend Charles Tyrwhitt, was it a problem with the fit or just quality overall was lacking. Thanks
Man, really enjoying your videos. Appreciate the hard work you are putting into them, saves me a ton of time and money for mistakes I'd make on my own. Keep up the good work!
Great video, very helpful, thanks so much! I tend to buy my dress shirts (and slacks) from Dillard's. I typically buy their hart schaffner marx brand, which is probably rebranded, but recently bought a Hugo Boss shirt, which feels and fits fantastic. That shirt and a new job have me looking and considering the finer points of a dress shirt and looking beyond the mall. Regarding Bonobos, about 6 months ago, based on reviews of suit makers, I bought a couple of Bonobos suits. Got fitted in the store and received them within a couple of days at my home. The suits just did not sit well on me. They were some bad combination of baggy and saggy. I returned one of them and ordered one of their higher line suits in the hope that a higher grade material would help, but it fit the same, so I returned both. I subsequently researched Bonobos and it seems the original owners sold out, new owners are probably not using the same suppliers and tailors? Maybe the shirts are different, but I would rather try some of you other recommendations, before buying again.
OMG, I cant believe you've mentioned Ledbury. I picked up a light blue one in Marshalls (never heard of Lebdury before) and I cant tell you how many compliments I get when I wear it. I am 5' 11", 175lbs, and I got a 16" neck, 34" sleeves, and its like they made it for me. The fit is insanely great and the material is so soft. I only paid $39.99 and is the best bargain I've ever found on a shirt. I went back and picked up 2 more and I tried to go to other Marshalls to see if there were more, but only the store by me had them. Now I am always looking for them (at a cheap bargain price that is :>)))
Round tree & York, Paul Fredrick. I like these, also berlioni from eBay. I have two Lawrence hunt shirts, the fit is good, the collars are cut small. I'm a 3xl ,19-19.5 , 36. Their 3xl fits all but the collar, seems like it's cut to a 18-18.25. It's hard to button. The rest I'm not to thrilled with. They either don't come in my size or are to expensive.
Love the channel! I have been watching for some time now, I currently wear suits to work. I am always looking to upstage my style and keep up with trends in men's fashion. Your channel hits the nail on the head when it comes to current men's clothing shopping. I would love to see subscription based men's dress shirts, and suits. Being able to not have to go to a store to shop and all online would be amazing! Thanks again! Keep up the great work!
Personally, I love Grand Frank. I bought their famous Toulouse shirt with the extreme cuttaway collar and I was extremely impressed. The fit was perfect...the best I ever had. The collar's really stiff, too, which I like. I don't know if I'd buy it at the wholesale price, though. I got mine for $56 during their Black Friday sale.
just bought a spier & McKay shirt and dress pants. Being in Canada, it's nice to see a company based here. Very curious to see the quality of the material.
Hello sir, great content, what's your opinion on expensive quality shoes? I'm not sure what to buy. More cheaper common shoes or like the expensive qualitative ones?
What about the Japanese brand Kamakura? (spelling?) They were a bit funky but legitimately looked like one of the nicer dress shirts you unboxed. I couldn't find the video in your dress shirt playlist either.
It's on the playlist and they're great shirts but I see a dress shirt almost needing to have some kind of anti-wrinkle to look good all day. They have great fabrics and cuts but the dress shirt I received from them didn't have the proper collar structure to really get in IMO
Dig your channel. As a 30 year old buying clothes that are quality/valuable and will last is a thing I have been looking into and you have definitely done a lot of the leg work 😂😂 glad I saw your channel before a few companies that have been recommended to be are a no go on your videos
Hey Kavalier, just found your channel from looking at AllBirds reviews. I'm glad I found your channel I needed to find a channel that shows some more professional/ casual everyday wear. Gave a sub and looking forward to see more videos!
Hey Kavalier! Really enjoyed your video. Is there any chance you could review State and Liberty (shirts designed for athletic guys) and the Tailor Store/Proper Cloth (custom) shirts? Would love to hear your thoughts on those.
Mostly their lack of pricing transparency and material. I don't like to play games with trying to catch sales/deals and the weight and feel of the material is not as comparable to similarly priced shirts like The Tie Bar. BUT if you like them keep going! Just a singular opinion!
LOL people will say what they want , but to me a good dress shirt always starts with the collar, and then a good high arm eye, so you have good movement without the shirt moving everywhere. I know most will say "Oh those are cheap", but I have always liked Van Heusen dress shirts, because the have great collars that don't go limp throughout the day, and they have nice cuffs. Bonus for me most fit perfect off the rack, sometimes a rare occurrence I have to get one altered only because I really like the shirts. That being said Calvin Klein makes some great dress shirts as well. Sidenote: LOL I'm not talking about the one you can get at Walmart. LMAO totally different then those. Just one man's opinion. Great video by they way.
Hi im curious as to how well the wrinkle free aspect of the bonobos shirts hold up in your opinion? i was gonna visit one of the guide shops here in Chicago. Thank you!
Hey K what is your opinion on Proper Cloth custom fit made shirts?.By the way, I appreciate how you spend your time teaching men how to dress properly! Greetings
Did you try Luxire? They have massive amounts of customizable measurements and reasonable prices but the process might be a little scary if you don't have a lot knowledge on your sizing.
Just saying i got a 3 piece Black suit tailored in India, with all the material and tailors fee, the total was less than $100, and the quality and fit is next to None.
Just found out Charles Tyrwhitt no longer sells “super slim”. Looks like I’ll stick with Bonobos, who make excellent shirts and have amazing customer service. You may not think customer service means much until you get your shirts tailored and they don’t look right. This happened to me and Bonobos went above and beyond and sent me new shirts. Tie Bar is really great too.
My god,,, you would love all things Eto. Especially the textured , heavier weight stuff with the contrast buttons.. Really expensive but damn..... beyond words
Excellent vid. I actually think Charles tyrwhitt has better wrinkle free materials than everything you mentioned but I don’t find even their new super slim fit to have high enough arm holes. Comes untucked so easily! What do you think about State and liberty vs mizzen and main vs ministry of supply vs Bonobos jetsetter stretch dress shirt? Performance dress shirt review coming anytime soon??
Great reviews. Had a question on a shirt not covered in video. I absolutely love bonobos and is my top choice at current time, but was curious how the Joseph A. Bank slim fit travelers series is overall? Have been considering purchasing such but wanted to inquire first about such
Hi Jon, One aspect important to me in choosing dress shirts is ease of care. Frankly, I'm too lazy to go to the cleaners every week so I need a shirt that is going to hold up to the rigors of home washing and drying and then be easy to iron after. I know taking shirts to the cleaner is probably best for the shirt, but what your recommendation be based on ease of care and durability?
+Ryan Kayrell wool and prince, mizzen and main so far. DeoVeritas just launched bamboo shirting which is natural fabric with all of the characteristics of performance apparel but I'll be sure to include this in followup ;-)
Thank you!! Great video!! I have a question, I'm a tango dancer and I need a good quality stretch shirt with french cuffs. Is Kenneth Cole reaction a good quality shirt brand? Is a french cuff stretch shirt around $40. You can find it in Amazon. Thank you!!
I love my Charles Tyrwhitt shirt. Not sure what was wrong with yours. Can you review TM Lewin shirts? They have a very slim shirt. So slim I had to send it back lol my CT shirt even came with brass collar stays...very nice. My aTM Lewin is a little harder to keep Tucked in bc it’s a shorter length shirt
I just love to dress up and look good but it's really hard for me to find nice fitted dress shirts .also my dress pants is hard I'm a 30x29 and I need to tailor most..I love to pair up my nice dress clothes with goofy socks and boxer briefs lol
Hey Bud! Just wanted to say love your vids and can't wait for the best performance dress shirt reviews... I was actually going to request that but ya beat me to the punch haha! just a small request in that video in that I hope you can place a lot of focus towards the long term durability of the water repellent/moisture wicking components of them.As with many that like to buy these kinds of products, I tend to sweat a lot in the underarm area and am mostly worried about that situation. I am having a really hard time deciding which brand to buy from all the brands you have mentioned before i.e.: Outlier/Mizzen&Main/State&Liberty/MinistryofSupply....I'm especially interested in the Outlier shirts and their overall quality. Thanks a lot and keep up the great work!
Make it short and simple. Charles Tyrwhitt delivers great quality for money.
For real, 14 minute video and he spent the first five minutes doing disclaimers and repeating himself…
Who cares, should we go hallelujah over something we know.
Yes she is kute and she knows it.

I only wear Spier and Mackay Shirts now. In fact Ive started wearing all their stuff.
tie-bar shirt just arrived. love the fit. 6'2" 165. thanks for the info. will buy more.
just bought a spier & McKay shirt and dress pants. Being in Canada, it's nice to see a company based here. Very curious to see the quality of the material.
Lipson (owned by samuelsohn suits) are made in Canada. Really good shirts, they also make shirts for other companies.
Hello. Great video. Question. You show Paul Fredrik but does not mention it at all on the video. Any comments on that option?
Love it. Thanks for the shout out to the women who are watching to buy their men's shirts!
the shirts look rather big on you
I was hoping to see Hugo Boss.
I agree, I am unsure why is happy with the fit of certain shirts when none of the shirts fit him well.
Hello sir, great content, what's your opinion on expensive quality shoes? I'm not sure what to buy. More cheaper common shoes or like the expensive qualitative ones?
Can you do an updated version of this
Thanks for the Twillory reccomendation. I just picked up a few of the Sea Island Twill. These shirts are incredible for the price!
What do you think about thetailorstore?
man thank you for the effort for delivering an affordable items you saved me time for research ;) big thank you
Great channel.
Any idea where I find casual shirts with nicer buttons? I am not able to find that in the US.
Is it appropriate to wear a nice dress shirts for the hot summer months?
I've been buying Indochino for about 2 years. Good enough quality and a good price. Don't feel the need to look elsewhere.
Hey Kavalier, would love an in depth video on ties. Love the great content!
I'm in love with suit supply shirts
Nice rundown. This will definitely help me choose my next dress shirts for work.
Have you ever tried Apposta custom shirts? It would be nice to make a video about them. They seem of good quality
What do you think of Hawes & curtis?
Dig your channel. As a 30 year old buying clothes that are quality/valuable and will last is a thing I have been looking into and you have definitely done a lot of the leg work 😂😂 glad I saw your channel before a few companies that have been recommended to be are a no go on your videos
Please, who is the designer of the white shirt you are wearing sitting down, what’s the name of the collar, I’ll love to have one!!!
Hey Kavalier, just found your channel from looking at AllBirds reviews. I'm glad I found your channel I needed to find a channel that shows some more professional/ casual everyday wear. Gave a sub and looking forward to see more videos!
Thank you and welcome! Just ordered their new casual style, they look great!
Hey Kavalier! Really enjoyed your video. Is there any chance you could review State and Liberty (shirts designed for athletic guys) and the Tailor Store/Proper Cloth (custom) shirts? Would love to hear your thoughts on those.
+Clayton Yates yes will have all of those covered very shortly.
What do you think of going with Spier and mackay or the tailorstore for made to measure? I have a hard time with off the rack
I’ve covered a lot of MTM and both are great choices. Going to have an MTM dress shirt roundup posted soon
What did you not like about Charles Tyrwhitt? I find their business shirts have a very strongly fused collar and cuffs which i like alot
Mostly their lack of pricing transparency and material. I don't like to play games with trying to catch sales/deals and the weight and feel of the material is not as comparable to similarly priced shirts like The Tie Bar. BUT if you like them keep going! Just a singular opinion!
Charles Gregory I love ct shirts. Especially the non irons. the tie bar and amazon shirts are equivalent to the $20 shirts that you can get at costco.
@@The_Kavalier YOU NEED TO IMPROVE YOUR RESEARCH, CHARLES TYRWHITT USES MANY DIFFERENT MATERIALS, ALL TOP QUALITY WITHOUT BEING TOP PRICE.
I'm interested in those Korean collarless dress shirts. I'm especially interested in wearing such with a brown Indiana jones brown sports jacket.
I'd be interested in your thoughts regarding Proper Cloth and the custom shirts they produce.
Which brand do you think will be best for muscular men?
I have trouble of shirts being to big in the bottom and too tight around my chest thank you !.
Thank you!
Well worth the wait. Great information and presentation. Thanks!
Hey K what is your opinion on Proper Cloth custom fit made shirts?.By the way, I appreciate how you spend your time teaching men how to dress properly! Greetings
+Yoan Corvo Duarte I have 2 right now. Video going up next week
Got it, I will wait for it?
Thanks a lot for the video mate. Do you wear any shirttail garters?
Did you try Luxire? They have massive amounts of customizable measurements and reasonable prices but the process might be a little scary if you don't have a lot knowledge on your sizing.
Awaiting delivery of one of their shirts!
Eton?
Great video sir! Also with regards to the Tie Bar, shout out for being a American based, Chicago company. (I may be biased living in Chicago haha)
Wrinkle-free is a the best thing about CT. If you like good wrinkle-free then check out Nordstrom Men's Shop shirts.
What are your view on department store brands like Calvin Klein extreme slim fit or Ben Sherman skinny fit? ...
Great reviews. Had a question on a shirt not covered in video. I absolutely love bonobos and is my top choice at current time, but was curious how the Joseph A. Bank slim fit travelers series is overall? Have been considering purchasing such but wanted to inquire first about such
Hi Jon,
One aspect important to me in choosing dress shirts is ease of care.
Hi, Whats the difference between the short and regular in the Hall Madden dress shirts?
What type/brand pants are you wearing, sorry if anybody else asked earlier
I'd love to hear your thoughts on Stannt, State & Liberty, and Proper Cloth. I absolutely love my Ledbury and Eton shirts, just really pricey.
My aTM Lewin is a little harder to keep
Tucked in bc it’s a shorter length shirt
I just love to dress up and look good but it's really hard for me to find nice fitted dress shirts .also my dress pants is hard I'm a 30x29 and I need to tailor most..I love to pair up my nice dress clothes with goofy socks and boxer briefs lol
I find the quality of Ledbury shirts to be very uneven. Some are good, others are not worth 30 bucks. You should try it on first.
Even though you have completed this, I would say you should try Woodies Clothing dress shirts. Happy with the ones I have received.

Big fan of Hawes and Curtis shirts for sure
