The real issue here is that the SBR and SBS rule in the NFA makes no sense to begin with. It was an add-on to an effort to tightly regulate handguns, then when writing the bill someone thought, “wait…if we get the handguns, folks will just cut down long guns, so lets limit how short they can be too”. In the end, the lobbyists were able to keep handguns out of the NFA, but the SBR and SBS rule remained…for no real reason. What we need to do is repeal the NFA.
