    This video is what I use exclusively to model faces now. I absolutely love it! I especially like that it doesn't have any triangles upon completion.

    Long ago,probably at the same time this vid was made I was very interested in 3D modeling and the wish to make everything nicely curvy in topology and no triangles.
    This is the feeling I got when I was watching this.
    I could never really guess right the distance of things on the face from front and side althought to be fair I was mostly trying to create anime characters and they kinda disconnect front look from the side look to make both as cool looking as possible.
    Lately I have gotten interested in it again but feel like sculpting is the way to go for characters.
    What sux is that I was never that good at sculpting and I am struggling to find the motivation to do the hard work.
    When I was doing 3D long ago the motivation was to learn it all and make my own games but since I have realized that it's way way way harder to do it than I thought I have given up.
    Worked for 4 years on a project like a madman and it just became too much.
    Doing 3D,texturing,animation,programming,design etc....its just not something a beginner can accomplish unless very talented.

    the logo is a problem to seeing what you have kept/repeating your set-up during the process. other than that tid-bit, you're given a 4 of 5 star rating from a beginner 3D artist learner. cheers.

      Actually, this tutorial I made for my student to see how to setup a face topology from a box, just use for practice. Everything about face topology, how to develop the detail I talk in the class. The final head model I have worked on free time,

    • @OGDTav
      @OGDTav 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jacob Fausett You probably figured it out by now but you basically select the top and bottom edges of either side that's facing the front of the face, hit the CONNECT tab thingy and it will add one line, switch over to the faces box and select a half, push down on delete and then mirror the object.

    This tutorial doesn´t seem to avoid triangles and pentagons. Is there a special reason for that? I thought we should avoid those at all costs..

      sometimes its quite hard

    • @ritzer76
      @ritzer76 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that is true. But that is easy to fix by applying turbosmooth on top of your modifier stack so that you don't need to worry about having triangles or pentagons while modeling.

      Well I don't know if you found out, but anyway for the rest of the people, those pictures are from "Petra". A set of images made by 3DSK a long time ago that was taken down shortly after release. However, looking at the date of this video, seems like there are other unofficial ways to get them. Can't help you more, but at least you know the name of the set :)

    9:50 what happened there? I assume it's some sort of hot key.

      Weld

      it's Collaspe command

    • @markomladenovic9547
      @markomladenovic9547 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tung Nguyen Son I apologize for imprecise information, it was hard to tell the difference, since there are only 2 selected vertices the effect in this case should be identical. Both commands will tend to connect vertices at the same center between 2 selected points.

    • @tungnguyenson3855
      @tungnguyenson3855  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Marko Mladenovic no problem bro :). Collaspe or Weld are the same result.
      I think the important is face-topology, it make you know what you want in the end :).

      Idk why but for me the transparency thing that you get with the shorcut isnt transparent enough so I usually make a custom material and animate it so that I can make it completely transparent with the slider,but maybe I was doing it wrong this whole time :)
