The cocktail story reminds me of that one guy who was made fun of by other people in a restaurant for eating alone. He then took his glass, toasted to the empty side of the table and loudly said: "Happy anniversary, sweetie. I still miss you everyday." Which made their face drop as well.

Story 5: Smart move to give a fake name. OP knew she wasn't going to keep it a secret and she would spoil it for everyone, so might as well just let her run around with a fake name and embarrass her later.

We've decided Karen would fit better.
We found that that name has too many negative connotations, so we changed our minds again, it'll probably be Olivia.
We can't risk she meets a sailor, sorry. We better name her Florence.

A criminal record is not necessarily a ban for passing the bar. They'll make you jump through hoops, but if you can graduate from law school and pass the bar exam it's still possible. But the one thing that WILL kill your chances is "dishonesty" which basically means lying in this context. Lying on an application for aid shows you are 'dishonest' and not suitable to be an office of the court. Much easier to get a law license with a murder conviction (which does happen).

Some workplaces didn't leave themselves avenues to fire people for general incompetence. So they get promoted until they land in a position that they don't fail at, or they make a mistake large enough to be just cause for dismissal.
Ideally the mistake doesn't get another worker killed, but that's sometimes what it takes.

  • @laris2328

Story 7. Decades ago my parents built a 2.5 car garage on our property. Back then they could have put it right on the property line. But that means the neighbors could do stuff to the garage and prevent us from getting to it. So my parents built it 3+ feet away from the property line. That way we could get behind it to mow, etc. The neighbor worked for the juvenile detention center as a guard. He's a real ah. He tried to get the county to stop the building. He even allegedly blackmailed someone to stop my parents. However my dad knew HIS boss and overruled the county guy. That garage still stands today. When my sister bought the house, she had a concrete floor put in. The concrete guy told her to consider having it plumbed for a future kitchen and bathroom since it was built better than most houses were built. And yes the neighbor is still there and is still an AH.

It's the old Peter principle, that is, "In a hierarchy, every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence." Far too many time, people are promoted based on their success in a job (or jobs) requiring skill sets A, B and C, but fail in the new job that requires skill set D which they don't.

    • @TyroRNG
      @TyroRNG 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Personally I would say that the skill set a manager needs isn't the same as the skill set the workers need.
For example understanding the value of the workers, delegating them effectively and ensuring they can work as effectively as possible by conveying their needs and solving their issues.
In an abstract way, the workers are the cogs that drive the machine while the msnager ensures they turn smoothly.
The manager being able to do the job of the workers is a bonus and definitely helps with that job but isn't a necessary.
Unfortunately you hear a lot about the bad managers who miss the forest for the trees and think they either need to micromanage or maximize profit by minimizing costs at the cost or burden of the workers.

On the last story I remember a character that was in our area who chose to be a real jerk with other hunters. He ended up being the victim of a hunting accident. Most people who heard about it thought that the accident wasn't accidental. Not only were there hunters that didn't like him, there were several people who thought he needed to be removed from the gene pool for beating his ex wife while they were married. By the time he died, he had made a lot of people upset enough that there were plenty of people who went to his funeral just to make sure he was really buried.

Not entirely, cause it was mentioned that it's near a trail and baited traps are to be 1000 feet away from those trails. FWP should had been contracted TWICE when a domesticated animal was caught in the trap. That means the trapper could be in trouble as well, for poor location resulting in damages. Also sounds like the snares do not have a relax in them (required in areas due to lynx) nor a breakaway design. OP should be calling FWP every time that trap spotted close to property lines, cause even if it was on his neighbor's property line, it could be viewed as luring, especially since there is a trail in the area too. But he shouldn't be destroying the trap; trapper should had moved the snare trap further away after it had caught a domestic dog in it.

I gave in, but the bartender wouldn’t allow the guy to bring it to me (he wouldn’t even the drink until the guy sat back down. The guy even ordered drinks for my sister and our friend. Another stipulation I made for him to buy me a drink). The bartender brought them over and made sure to set them down closest to us gals and as far away from the guy. The guy wasn’t happy about it, but what could he do? The bartender even told the guy that he was watching him. We were the bartender’s favorite gals when we came to karaoke that he wasn’t going to allow someone to harm us. The guy eventually left and the bartender came back to tell us that the guy was persistent in trying to be the one to bring us our drinks. He said that if the guy came back and continued to harass us, he’d kick him out. There’s more that I can say about the guy, but it’s a lot more than I can post here. He really was trying to impress me, but he was arrogant about it.

I think my favorite drink is a Pina Colada. The waitress really shouldn't laugh at a person's drink choice. 2nd story: If you want to become a lawyer, you really shouldn't defraud a government agency. Now her future as a lawyer is gone! 3rd story: Gee, NOW the manager KNOWS what OP was doing in the job. He lost his job after OP quit. Story 4: OP found his friends were not truly his friends. Disrespecting OP and throwing trash in OP's swimming pool. Karma gets Dan! 5th story: MIL was told NOT to post the babies name. SO they give her a fake name to see if she respects them. Nope, MIL goes on Face Book and spreads the fake name. bad move MIL. 6th story - OP and GF lay a trap for a creep. He needs to learn NO means NO.

To the second OP, thank you for keeping a vile, sadistic monster like Sarah out of the legal profession. Given how much evil she was already doing for no apparent reason other than a power-trip, it's a very good thing she was never able to become a lawyer.

if the wolf traps are along known walking trails then he can get into trouble if someone trips them especially kids because if they don't know better they can get seriously hurt or worse

Last story; Tripping the traps so they can't catch wolves only means that those wolves will be roaming when the dog is out exploring, and they will eat that dog as an intruder in their territory...
You don't let your dog off the leash and out of sight in areas where there is wolves; that's beyond irresponsible...

Hey Fluff, in the story of the friends who went out clubbing and got harassed by a random old guy, who kept trying to demand that OP shoot back a shot of possibly Jagermeister. OP ended up pouring the Jagermeister on his shoes! OP was smart not to shoot the shot, because maybe the drink was Roofied? Or more likely, he was hoping to score on a passed out 21-year-old? Either way for OP to make that creep regret hitting on random people.

I do not abide traps , That said your dog should not be allowed to wonder off your property . Your dog was on that mans property .. And like it or not he has the legal right to put them there ..I hate traps ,I think they are cruel and vile. But that said they are legal in many places .. And Your right to let your dog roam does not invalidate his legal right to trap... Like it or not ..

@wendyjones3586 I don't think the trap was on the neighbor's land. It sounds more like it was on public land because OP said it's along a trail where many people walk with their dogs.
That said, I am also a firm believer in fences and not letting your dogs wander around unsupervised.

If those traps are on the neighbor's property, then the dog owner should keep their dog under control. Someone walking the trails with their dog wouls also be close to hand to control it. This is an irresponsible dog owner, who doesn't want to take responsibility for its welfare.
