Every Drill instructor video I have seen so far, this josh is very common in all drill instructors. That's why they are remembered and respected throughout life even after their trained Cadets become Majors and Colonels.
I was a Junior Division (School Student - class 10; 16 years old) (North East) cadet in RDC 1988 - and JDs were not part of the march-past. But we did take part in all other camp activities which lasted about a month!! I remember landing with my contingent at the barren grounds in freezing early-January Delhi temperatures at the middle of the night at 11pm or 12 midnight - then - travelling on the back of a truck to Delhi - Cantonment. Immediately we were put to clearing, levelling, digging and erecting tents till 3 am - before we could lay out the charpoys in the tent and rest after the 40+ hour train journey from Guwahati!!! Wow!! NCC / Army surely straightened me out and made me a man!! Thanks You NCC and the Indian Army. Big Thank you to the fantastic Instructors and Military Officers - I think NCC is a MUST for every young Indian - especially today in the age of crazy online distractions......
Wow! You so beautifully penned your memories of RDC! I too believe that NCC has straightened me out. Today I am an Ultra Runner by passion. The seeds of endurance were sown in my when I was an NCC cadet.
very easy to laugh but knowing that corporal punishment is there for the one who laughs and not taking things seriously. it's good to see these guys taking what appears to be funny, seriously.

What an energetic Instructor! Parade grounds are sacred places, hallowed ground - you cannot just walk on one casually - its for marching. In Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Canada at least, the parade ground historically represents the place of fallen soldiers, marking their sacrifice to war. I would imagine it means something similar in India.
We were better ... It's like whiskey of IMA moment ... Luckily I had privilege of walking past the saluting daies twice .. once as an NCC cadet from Delhi Dte and again as an officer rest is legendary
In the Nigerian Army, there is something like this called a Warm-Up parade/drill before the normal foot/arms drill. Normally done during the cold harmattan months... This must be their own version.
