- A walk around the farm to look at some nitrogen-fixing trees - some we've planted and some that were already growing when we arrived. We'll look at the following nitrogen-fixing Philippine Native Trees: Kamatog (Sympetalandra densiflora / Erythrophleum densiflorum), Narra (Pterocarpus indicus), Ipil (Intsia bijuga), Forest Siris (Albizia procera), Akle (Albizia acle), Salingkugi (Albizia saponaria), Supa (Sindora supa), and Tiagkot (Archidendron clypearia). We'll also briefly look at some trees that don't fix nitrogen: Dao (Dracontomelon dao), Kalantas (Toona Calantas), Amugis (Koordersiodendron pinnatum), and a ficus species.
Please see our other videos on our Philippine Native tree farm and reserve. If you'd like to support us as we continue this project, please see our Patreon page. Thanks for your support, everyone!

Maybe you can try planting some Ice cream beans (Inga) - nitrogen fixing, fast-growing and fruit producing at the same time.
Thanks! We'll look into those
I love the sounds of cicadas!
They were definitely loud at that time. I haven't noticed them every year (but I'm not always there too), so it would be interesting to know how often they emerge in large groups like that.
I am a pilipino n quite proud n glad that many foriegners vlogging the beautiful natures in the phils especially green mountains and lot species of trees and our beautiful beaches and charming people as well thnk u n more power n more videos to come 🎉❤
Thank you! It's a very beautiful place for sure! Thank you for your support and watching!
👍👍👍
Toog & Kalantas are fast growing.
Eight years it might be 10-15 inches wide.
If you have a ficus growing there, you might have a water vein or an undiscovered hidden spring nearby. If you have a Mala Tibig - it is a sure sign of water.
Thanks for that tip! It would be good to have a reliable water source - there are several ficus trees, but I don't know the species yet. I'll try to get them identified
11:45 the "natural growing tree" you've mentioned i think that's gemelina (melina) and not native in the Philippines, it is invasive and grow large, good for lumber but under its canopy almost everything will die. Better Lawaan and Dao you've mentiond earlier in exchange of gemelina and mahogany
That could be - I know there are some in the area so a bright might have brought that seed in. Thank you!
Madre de cacao and ipil2x ok na
What a view!
👍 nice!
I'm a new subscriber, I love your videos and I am praying that your channel will grow
Thank you for subscribing and for the kind words!
Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Thank you for watching - it looks like you have some interesting videos up - we'll check them out!
❤❤❤
Thank you for watching!
Ever considered the miyawaki method
That sound interesting - we thought about it along the borders of the property. It seems like it would be expensive, though to plant so many trees in a small area. Maybe when our trees start making seed it will be something we can try
@@outofdangerproject native trees are free from your local CENRO
@@user-su6ik4iy4h Thanks! We got a couple of trees from them, but mostly here they have pine and we wanted a variety of trees. We're hoping we can work with them in the future to provide seeds for other species
🙂
Thanks, Allan!
I love planting too sir but I don’t have land to plant it 🌱 😅
Hopefully soon you will!
Now i have a list of nitrogen fixing trees.
Thanks! I think there are quite a few more Philippine native trees that fix nitrogen, but I don't remember seeing a comprehensive list. If I find one, I'll try to share it. Thank you for watching :)

@@bohol_netherlandshow do we utilize the trees to benefit our gardens? Or is the fact that they are near our gardens enough?
Where is this place?
Hello! This is in Sablan, Benguet. Thank you for watching our video!
Do you need extra hands for planting trees? Would love to volunteer.
@@simonfraser1491 Wow! Thank you for offering. The first year we did have help from several people. Since then so far we've just been doing it privately and with the help of the caretakers. We've been considering some kind of activity, though. If we do, we'll be sure to announce it. Thank you for watching our video!
