I'm pleased to add the new Nordisk Svalbard PU (2.0) to my mountain tent collection. Nordisk describe it as their 'wind king' that can take extremely high winds. Now it's even better with it's pitch as one exoskeleton pole system and improved door. So now you can pitch quicker and the inner stays dry in foul weather. Here's my first impressions. Looking forward to trying this in some challenging mountain conditions. It does feels bomber, if only just slightly lighter than something like the Hilleberg Soulo.
I got mine from outdoorgear.co...

Just wanted to acknowledge your investment in doing this first look,L commentary, especially as I cannot find a single photo or video on the net of the new version. I have seriously considered buying both the original svalbard 1 pu and si but had backed out because of several concerns. In this first look there is clearly progress. Thx for posting. JMO.
I hope it helps, info is still rare on it. A
Yep I considered buying both and using the PU fly with the Si inner and dac poles am still considering it
I suppose the poles are longer to maintain the interior height and space as poles sit above outer, rather than under it. Adds a bit of extra weight. I like some of the tweaks they've made.
I've been tempted by the Svalbard's for a while now and it's good to see an updated version. I've always wondered if I'd fit comfortably though at 6'2. Looking forward to seeing how it performs.
Likewise. I have been debating for a while whether to get a Svalbard or not. They seem really well made, with a lot of attention to details. I am 192cm tall and I have my doubts I will fit inside with room to spare at both ends.
at six two i think you'd find it impinged on you at the food and head, not so much the length just the fact it tapers at the extremes unfortunately.
Thanks for the info. A friend has a mk1 pu version and has kindly offered to let me have a bit of a test
I bought the tent and im 1.82m tall and was using a 1.96cm sleeping pad for my camping trip. Even with my size, stretched out my feet were already touching the inner tent wall.
@@jannike.87 Thanks for sharing. Very useful.
Very thorough review, Andrew. Much appreciated! 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Andrew for another excellent review...Most interesting.. I look forward to seeing this one on the hill..
Great, let's see! Like the exoskeleton design already.
that I do like especially for wet weather pitching. A
Bought 2nd hand, just tried out on a dry nice trip. Found everything to be spot on as your comments. Did the 'HAKA' and definitely much,
Much stronger. Although I dont really use walking poles and a hack for a new tent aint ideal.. I'll soldier on & see if i'm gonna keep??
Lots of pluses, but clearly not the same quality of materials of a certain other company.. 😂
Have watched this review quite a few times... I'm very drawn to this tent bar for one thing.. I can't believe that Nordisk haven't put a two way zip on the front door... This would be a deal breaker for me... Two way zips on the outer door should be a definite on all tents...
Almost the perfect tent for me, but that zip.... agggggrrrrrr...
Great review! Does a long sleeping pad fit in there?
Good question i think a mummy shape will but oversize rectangular pads won't looking a it. A
Easily I'd say.
Thanks guys :))
Looks good Andrew, I have the old one 1. 8 kg(Nylon) flieldMan Dave, I know had the old one Polyester 2k, if I remember, hope info helps.
Cheers , i do like them just pitched it wrong way round I guess.
I do like your approach to reviewing products together with your adventures.
To reduce the weight slightly could you replace the metal guyline adjusters with plastic line locks and the guylines with zingit or something similar?
So far, with all the tents reviewed by the numerous influencers, I have yet to be persuaded to exchange my Lanshan 2! It is all down to personal choice.
Lanshans are great until the shit hits the fan and then I'd rather be in something else but had a few and I like them for ultra lite and below tree line stuff.
how would.you go about modding the rear vent mate has i got that tent and i am.not sure how to go about doing it any help much appreciated
Hi Andrew- check out Barents Snota 1 . Big one man tent - great weight and quality
I think they are hard to find outside of Scandinavia, and very expensive!
Would also like to see that with an English review! I meant Scottish review😅
having a look now !
Random question but what model is your watch!? I thought it was a submariner before but then the butterfly clasp threw me off!
It's a Lige, nothing fancy !
@@AndrewParkOutdoors ta for that!Fancy is in the eye of the beholder 😉 I buy a lot of watches off Ali Express, San Martin, Addiesdive etc I think they’re fancy! Have a top evening
those platic clips might not have a long life-cycle... exposed to UV etc... ?
I see where you're coming from but if they've been used for years by Hilleberg and the like they must be UV resistant. A
Generelly like the design but not the materials. That said when yih have a Trailstar and Duomid everything else feels cramped
True!
Why not film a generic start to your vids...you walking through the door with a package saying
"Look what I've got - another tent"
😂😂😂
🤣
