You downsizing your outflow pipe size for lower flow? I have the same outlet but the larger size for a 60u and the outflow causes quite a bit of surface agitation.

Yes I always reduce from the 5/8 to the 1/2" fitting for piping

Try searching for Ruby Reef Kick Ich. Also safe for plants and shrimp
