John’s tone in this one is amazing. Nothing against the other guitarist but with Frusciante they are just on a different level. Great job again helping us axe impaired players learn these amazing licks.
Theyve had like 12 different guitarplayers throughout the years but Im assuming you mean Hasselhoffer. He was basicly just filling in for Frusciante for 10 years and I really dont think he ever brought anything to the table musicly.
@@standinsilence im surprised you got joshs tenure correct with the added ignorance. i know hes not Frusciante but i liked the getaway. it has its own psychedelic charm to it
@@Flippinoutkid To each his own but I really never liked neither his playing or persona. Its also bit of an insult to David Hasselhoff to refer to him as "Hasselhoffer" so I should perhaps stop doing that. I will take the song Looking For Freedom over Hasselhoffers playing any day. Bit of a weird comparison I know but still. I think Hasselhoffer fits better as a roadie or someones guitar tech than he does being in a band or making music in any form.
Tremendous video. I like this track. Anthony singing has an Irish twang to it! Johns guitar work is amazing. Really like how you break down the tones etc. massive help bud. Great lesson.
Got to love those Frusciante solo's. Something that my "noobie" fingers can manage and they sound awesome. And also getting some love from my Hungry Beaver.
Hey man thanks for making videos so quickly for new songs, as new a player it keeps me engaged every week with the music I’m listening too while I’m not playing
Thanks mate! Ah when i first tabbed it I played it there, but I saw in the vid John playing it around the 7th fret so that's what i'm playing here. I thought I'd amended it in the video, doh!!
Just come across this channel......TH-cam algorithm working well as I’m trying to learn this tune!.......I think you’ve nailed this! Thanks for uploading 👍👍 What guitar is this?.......looks awesome! 🎸

Great video. Can anyone tell me why the Eb minor changes to E major (played here as Em and E in standard tuning) for the chorus? I've been working on theory to try and bring myself up to speed a bit, but I don't understand why this works but it does seem to be the way it's played.
In a key, the 1 chord and the 6 chord (here the song is being played in G major, so G and E minor) are tonic chords. You can tell it's a tonic chord because it feels like home whenever the progression lands on one. For tonic chords you can go from major to minor or vice versa to give them a different flavour without changing their function. In this chorus they use E major where it would normally be minor and you can hear it gives it a little lift so it sounds brighter. The Chili Peppers use this trick often, like in the outro bit of Under the Bridge that goes A - Am - G - F. You can understand this progression as being in C, where A would usually be minor, but using A major gives it that brighter feeling without changing its tonic function or it's feeling of 'home-ness'.
@@AlbertKarhuFilms I'm just finishing a Masters in classical composition so I've picked up a lot of theory on the way (that chord stuff for example is from Lendvai's axis theory as applied to Bela Bartok). However since that's all a bit much and I can't really recommend going through that, I will say I think a lot of the channel 12tone's content on theory for popular music is pretty good 👍
I'd say it's Big Muff + BOSS DS-2 in Mode 2. I accidentally combined those two pedals and it's 100% Frusciante's tone. Then I've read that he uses those two effects, so it might be exactly what he's using. There's this bassy fuzz thump and mid-boost cutting through of boss ds-2 mode 2 in his tone.
@@jurekwoz thanks i didn't know he used the big muff im guessing the RAMs head version? I heard that john uses the Japan version of the DS-2 which has germanium diodes to get a fuzzy tone, I'm not sure if this is true or not

The little run before the 2nd part of the solo begins is wrong. It’s not connected like that. Wrong notes there
