I think the sound is good considering it's "just" from a phone. Some people try to get all fancy with multiple camera angles, etc, then they fade and zoom and the camera bounces all over the place. I feel I'm watching a video production. But all I want to do is sit in one spot and watch you play. So, in my opinion, just keep doing what you are doing. It's great!
You speak right out of my heart! Playing in practice: "Oh I'm enjoying this music so much!" While Recording: "Oh there was a neighbour note.. hmm should I keep playing? Hmm yes lets do... Oh wait that left hand note was way to loud... oh wait lets think about what chord comes next because that will surely help me very much. Oh wait I think that was the wrong bass note... Okay the piece is over wow that was bad" And while listening to the recording I recognize that I completely overreacted. I tend to rather post something with mistakes but with passion, than something without mistakes and without passion. You probably know that Beethoven quote about playing wrong notes. I really much rely on that. Actually I mostly only record 1 Minute snippets for Instagram.. Cant believe how stressful it can be if you record a 20 minute piece... But as I said I think the same as you and btw I didn't notice any wrong notes in your recording. (I have to say that I didn't know the piece before, but I liked it and thats what's important right?) Anyways, very interesting video! Thanks for posting!
This is the reason why I always watch your vlogs; it is something that I can relate into. Like the struggles of choosing a piano and that weird vibration on the sound board. ^^
I absolutely fell in love with you today. I just found you on TH-cam. You are magnificent. I love your attitude and enthusiasm. But most of all your professionalism showing through your interpretation of the music. Thank you so much for playing Schumann, the way it is supposed to be played. Bless you!
The recording process is very physically and emotionally exhausting. For me, it’s always easier to remember that professional recordings are often spliced and never done perfectly in one full take. My best recordings are ones that have wrong notes or even pauses because regardless of one technical mistake, the musicality of the recording is the best that I am able to produce. Your recordings are consistently professional, inspiring, and most importantly, genuine. Thank you for reminding pianists in the community that perfection is overrated :)
Thank you Tiffany for your open-hearted vlog. It’s so inspiring to see a young aspiring pianist at work with disciples and courage to face the challenges, and the acute consciousness to know what one can do and should do. Again, another excellent video I totally enjoyed. Thank you for sharing.
Your vlog was the first thing we watched during breakfast early this morning and it was fun and exciting watching a day in the life of a pianist. The honesty and transparency come through and express a level of realism that is necessary to inspire beginning musicians of all age ranges and encourage all musicians regardless of expertise to persist, to keep going. Your message when you pointed out the notes exemplifies what really matters in life and not limited to music, and that is to express yourself with heart, with authenticity and to recognize errors not as failures but as as cues to improve and advance forward with greater success and inner fulfillment. You can be a great musician or an extraordinary musician. Being the latter requires integrity, honesty, and humility. That’s the inspiration. Thanks for sharing your Papillon journey!
I'm starting my piano lessons and your videos inspire me so much. I'm thinking about recording my progression because of your videos. Keep being yourself and being amazing! 😘
You are such a joyful and inspirational talent. I enjoy hearing your thought process. You radiate intelligence, wisdom and grace above and beyond your years. Your parents must be so very proud. Keep the videos coming. Have lots of fun and don’t work too hard.
Hi Tiffany, keep doing the vlogs! I don't know if is a subject for a video but watching your i started to think about a loss of concentration while playing. Sometimes i start to play and come to my head "woow youy started very good, keep this level!" and after sometime "woow you didn't miss any note!" and turn out i do something wrong cause i'm listening to my mind hahah I'm a begginer yet (long time of guitar getting started in piano), don't even play long pieces like your's, but i think some tips about concentration, and preparation would be cool. Thanks for sharing good words and good music!
Tiffany, I discovered your music when you played my favorite piece Chopin’s Nocturne No. 2. You were flawless in the timing of the piece. As you know, a lot of pianists tend to play that piece slightly too fast and it totally changes the complexion of the piece. You times it perfectly:)
Telling yourself that you're in control is definitely something that I'll try when I record my pieces. I often stress out about the little details and notes might miss, so I feel like this will help me become more confident! Thank you for your insight!
Very insightful. When I was working at larrick piano and organ in Sacramento, they had a Steinway grand in the back that Olga Kern performed on and signed. It was EXTREMELY bright and "tempermental". Very light action. I actually loved that piano.
Love watching your vlogs! And I am very glad you decided to put out the video of your playing of a few wrong notes rather than a technically perfect re-take. It is so important to know that musicians are imperfect humans too. 😌
Your playing of Schumann Papillons on Steinway Model S was done very well. The first piano have an keyboard action (buzzing) going bad do to heavy played. The modern Steinway piano tend go out of tune at middle and upper registers quicker to other paino companys. You keep up playing.
Awesome 👏 I think this is one of my favorite vlogs now! 💫 I agree with what you said about the sound of that piano. I was so impressed when I heard you having such control over it. Ahh, how I get you! Yes. Sometimes the outcome is “surprisingly” good! Yours is a perfect example. Btw at 09:47, my exact thoughts... 😂💕 I saw a similar bunny at my school couple of days ago. So creepy!
Your videos are just amazing! I wonder if you've ever heard or read about a colombian composer -Luis A. Calvo-, whose piano pieces are really beautiful... Love the content you share with us, keep it up
Your thoughts are so very interesting because they come from a professional who recognizes wrong notes that go unrecognized by non-professionals who actually find such wrong notes quite pleasing to hear. Ya know you're a pro when even your mistakes sound good. 😉
Finding what you need when you need it is the struggle of a life-time! Always happens haha. I really enjoyed the vlog, seeing the behind the scenes are always interesting. You have a wonderful personality that keeps me watching! Keep up the good work, work hard and you'll achieve wonders! Make sure you are getting enough rest and try not to stress out to much!
As far as playing wrong notes is concerned, I just enjoy the music as it is presented. I'm not interested in total accuracy: it's a performance, not an examination! I thought Papillons was great, wrong notes or not.
Musical flow is much more important than playing exactly what's in the score. But I believe that in classical music, doing all the correct notes often is addressed. But as long as the performance sounds great, it's not a big deal, for me at least. I would listen to a piece of music with slight imperfections rather than a perfect studio mix. It becomes more like a live performance which I have come to like more and more. Music in the making as a direct performance.
I love watching the freedom you display at the keyboard in your recordings. About the videos, I like the more casual aspects of it. If you were to make it "professional", it'd lose that chillax appeal imo. Keep up the good work !
I Loved it😍 take care and kerp doing what You do. You inspire me so much by playing the piano, it gives me the motivstion to go on practicing. I'm not a Pianist I'm just some one who plays the Piano and loves to play.😍😍😎
I like how simple your recordings are. People are getting too extra and their videos are more about other things than just the music.
Thank you
It’s always nice seeing your beautiful smile Tiffany. Keep going and doing what you love.
I agree! Her smile is quite infectious!

“to play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable” - Ludwig Van Beethoven
This is the reason why I always watch your vlogs; it is something that I can relate into. Like the struggles of choosing a piano and that weird vibration on the sound board. ^^
You didn't play wrong notes, you played a variation.
😂
Yes, I never make a mistake in Ballroom dancing either, just a new variation
A string Player that I know always says "I'm not playing out of tune, those are just Microtones!" when playing -out of tune- _notes between the notes_

You are amazing to watch! Really enjoyed just seeing how smooth and quick your hands moved, something to aspire to for sure. Thanks Tiffany:)
You should become friends with the piano technicians.
At the same time, the piano technicians should put more passion and professionalism into their roles and responsibilities.
being genuine is way better than being perfect imo! the performance was lovely
Mysterious buzzing sounds from pianos are really annoying, I agree.
Especially once you realise it's either the score or the chair causing the buzzes
That's why I tell my parents to avoid putting objects on top of the piano, because it's just weird when that happens.
I love the observations about squirrels and the moon! Keep noticing such things, and it means you will keep your sanity and not be eaten up by music.
Thank you Tiffany! Your experience provides enlightenment that is clearly relatable. Please continue posting!

Nice vlog post. I enjoyed hearing your thought process and getting to see the various locations on and off campus💕
Your recording was terrific. Hope your school will see this and allow you to use their finest instrument :)
I love you when your talking about your piano that make you happy. Keep going! I'll always waiting for your Videos
This is my favourite vlog of yours, everything is just you. Appreciate your commitment towards the vlog :)

This was sooo much fun and enjoyable to watch!!! Behind the scenes “video” of your last “video”!! Thank you tiffany 😘😍❤️ post more!!!!
I didn't hear any wrong notes. All I heard was great expression and feeling coming out of you and the piano
Telling yourself that you're in control is definitely something that I'll try when I record my pieces. I often stress out about the little details and notes might miss, so I feel like this will help me become more confident! Thank you for your insight!
The tips throughout the video really help out a lot. Thanks!

I love the way you play the piano is like traveling in the notes. I really enjoyed the video, keep it up you're really nice 😊😊
You sound like your are a lot more settled in and calm. I think the less busy environment compared to NYC is having a calming effect. Positive stuff
Calm? 😂
@@TiffanyPoonpianist calmer lol more like your NYC self. Perhaps just slightly more acclimated. Nevertheless enjoying the vids
Very fun! Definitely like the "behind the scenes".
So amazing you are!
It's good you don't punish your relaxed playing just because you played a few misread notes. That's what Schumann would've wanted.
I much prefer a musical performance with some wrong notes in it over a "technical perfect" but robotic one :-)

Nice, you are so natural. I am not a musician but just love the way you do the recording. Keep it up
The last part of the video are words that I need to hear right now, very valid reason to not do another take, you gave me a good advice👍
really enjoy these vlogs! 0:36 "where I filmed 2 of my recent recor DId I just see a squirrel" 😂😂
These videos make my day!!!
very interesting insight into pianist's inner workings. Your Papillons is a great musical treat. Keep on providing beautiful music .
Awesome 👏 I think this is one of my favorite vlogs now! 💫

Tiffany Poon aiming for perfection is a stress in and of itself..🤓
Thank you Tiffany for a great vlog

'Sometimes the world wants u to hunt for pianos' :)
That's Tiffany!!!
Well if u find one that really satisfies u...do enlighten us! 😉
this is a great video. thank you for sharing.
You're so analytical about the sound of pianos, I didn't realize there was so much depth to piano timbres
Beauty, smart and gifted women.
Stick to it !!!
I'm the vlogging boy
This was delightful,,, Thanks!!!!
As far as playing wrong notes is concerned, I just enjoy the music as it is presented. I'm not interested in total accuracy: it's a performance, not an examination! I thought Papillons was great, wrong notes or not.
i played Schumann's Papillons, just not nearly as quickly or well! But thanks for the inspiration for practicing Tiffany!
This is a very nice Vlog. I really enjoyed it☺️
Ur videos makes me feel like Im included to your vlogss.
thanks for the very entertaining 13 mins. enjoy
aaa her smile

Really enjoyed this video. I'd love to be able to feel and hear quirks of pianos.
Tiffany, you're adorable. I heard the Miss guided notes. My face was😟
😅
omg i don't know you have a TH-cam channel.
btw, Instagram follower here 💛
Yay!! Hi! How did you finally find out about my TH-cam? I wanna know so I can bring more Insta followers here 😊
Thanks! Great work.

🧐😄
you are so cute and fun to watch! love ya!
🤗❤️
What song is she playing at 5:38?? It sounds pretty :)
Bach Italian Concerto :)
The video is unavailable
😢
What recording device do you use? Do you use any software to master your recordings?
One question , have you ever played Rachmaninov Prelude in G minor ? If so , what you think about that piece tho ?
why have you stopped patreon?
Which of the papillons is your favorite? Mine is the 8th.
Hii Tiffany, what cam/mic do you use for your recordings?
😍
What camera do you use?
What do you think of Yann Tiersen and Ludovico Einaudi? Will you ever play their music?
I can hear the vibration.
As long as the papillons didn't fly away...
.... Is that a squirrel?
XD
Ahhh you are sooo cute :D
I just noticed the Steinway logo is missing an s so it says Steinway & son lol
Second!
A few wrong notes as long as they are harmonious is of no import.
second!!!
I just paid $1100 to tune my Piano and it is still out of tune! Who knew keeping Pianos in tune was such a task!
What baroque piece you were playing in this vlog... Lol
Bach Italian Concerto
First !
Eggs? *vomits*
Blödsinn ……… 👎 nonsense 😂
