    Thanks for a great review that puts many of the features and the new lenses into context. And I have to say that this is the OM-1 video review with the most range in sample subject matter.

    I just upgraded to one of these and the quality is blowing my mind. coupled with the top tier pro Oly/om lenses I think its the best system on the market.

    Which camera would you suggest if I want to shoot more videos than taking photos? I need good photo features at times for thumbnail photos. I need live ND, good stabilization. Thank you. Liked this cmaera but you said it's not like a cinema camera though.

    Thanks for filming the talking head parts with OM-1. That gives example of the video quality in real life. Did you also use camera to capture audio or external recorder?

    I'm considering either this camera or a fugi xt4 or xh2. What would be the advantage of this camera over those two? Size and weather sealing?

  • @9876karthi

    I am looking for a best weather sealed decent 20+MP, this one fits with ip53 body and lens, and wont weigh a ton.

    What do you guys think? I am already thinking about the next step: What will a possible OM 5 look like? How much of the OM 1 will make it to the OM 5? I think it's safe to say that the sensor will move over. IBIS capabilities will probably be reduced slightly. Pro capture will be reduced. High res shots will be reduced in capability. I think the ND simulation will also be reduced by I hope not. There will be an iauto mode that's missing in the OM1. The big question is if the ML tracking will make it this time. Last time those features were missing and many reviewers lamented that fact. I höre this time OM systems will not make that same move. I also hope that the big thing about OM 5 is MUCH improved integration with the phone. At least much faster for transfers. But even 1-step sharing to with the cloud or social networks would be really cool. That said I worry that OMDS will remain conservative and uninnovative and these opportunities to attract casual people like my wife are not realized even though it's really needed.

  • @BoughtonManor
    @BoughtonManor 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Great to see a revival of the OM nomenclature. The big question is how much better is it than the EM1 mark3? For those of us using that camera, a big decision could be looming. Thanks for the review.

    • @jdam28k
      @jdam28k 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not usually, they do use focus clutches that work fantastic. If you want that old school feel there is a million manual focus lens for m43.

    • @danielpittman889
      @danielpittman889 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. I was hoping they would make it like the original OM-1, with the aperture control on the end of the lens and the shutter speed encircling the lens mount.

    • @mattdebyl8806

    • @mattdebyl8806
      @mattdebyl8806 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Z6 II can shoot at 50fps with AF? Can shoot 80MP high res mode? Live ND? 4K60 without crop? Has better IBIS? Has a 5.76m dot EVF? Shoots 10bit internal log? Shoots raw without paid upgrade? Has a stacked sensor with fast read out? No? Have to go Z9 to get something comparable (but better) and they’re what? $9k without a lens? Have to wait 12 months to get one? Has how many lenses available for it? But hey, the Z6 does have a low rent Sony FF sensor so it’s gotta be better… right?

    • @markshirley01
      @markshirley01 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Crucially for me the Z6II doesn't have video backup. This almost renders the second card useless. Plus Im not a big fan of the Z6 Z7 ibis it swirls around.

    • @danielpittman889
      @danielpittman889 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      MFT is actually pretty cool. The IBIS wouldn't be as fast with a large sensor. And glass would be larger and heavier.
      I've got a buddy who shoots Nikon ff, and he would always joke about my "cute little camera" until I snapped a dozen 50MP handheld images of a bald eagle while he was still fumbling with his tripod.
      MFT ain't perfect, but it has some very real advantages.

    • @koolkutz7
      @koolkutz7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think that OM will make FF cameras. I think they would have already done it when Panasonic went FF a few years ago, but not now. The advantage comes with the comparitive size/weight to regular FF lenses. Look at the 2 lenses in the review. Most FF equivalents are much bigger and heavier. The only telephoto lenses that come close are maybe the Canon RF 600mm & 800mm lenses but they are fixed f/11 aperture! Nikon has their 300mm & 500mm PF lenses for F-Mount plus are going to make an 800mm f/6.3 lens for Z-Mount but it won't be cheap!

    • @gregm6894
      @gregm6894 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know why people keep harping on this FF nonsense. Going that direction would mean absolute death for OM Systems. It would mean completely designing a new system -- body, lenses, and accessories. Ask Panasonic how much profit they are making in the FF market. Trust me, I just turned 75 -- sooner or later all the FF shooters will be dumping their gear and switching to m4/3's.

  • @gastropodahimsa
    @gastropodahimsa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The focal length is NOT multiplied !! ONLY the field of view is affected. Telephoto-ism or magnification, or however you want to think of it, is 150mm for a 150mm lens and 50mm for a 50mm lens and so on.

    • @markshirley01
