you should have millions of views. i do this at my shows with guitars and a horn and the keyboard and vocals....its a lot to keep track of. I think you really put your loops together tastefully and i would be interested in your rig setup.
I became an instant fan a few months ago when I stumbled across a funk piano piece you did (you also played bass or guitar). Your videos make me a better player. Thanks
im a trumpet player, so i dont really need the tutorials, but i LOVE what you do! Its good for thinking of ideas and to improv over Thanks for helping the musical world!
Hi Jonathan, Really great to hear from you again. Thanks a lot for your video. Yes for sure a Tutorial would be great and much appreciated. THanks again for all your hard work. Friendly : Steph.
Would love a tutorial on those loungy vibes !! (chords and which scales to use on those sweety chords) You, Jonathan, are in my opinion the only 'Piano-tutorialmaker' on TH-cam that really delivers stuff on the piano that is fucking awesome. Funk/Blues/Jazz/Loungy ergo Groovy stuff! The best genres with an awesome approach, thanks a lot man!!
I watch him 2 years now, and im surprised and sad in same moment, that he has so few subscribers/audience. He deserves greater recognition. For me he's on Hancock, Corea' level. About this impro: high level as usually, interesting effects, i wish i could play like this :D
SO happy to see a new video, it's been a long time and you always do really great stuff! a tutorial on the Mobius Looper and your recording programs would be much appreciated, I'm having a hard time setting it up properly
John, this improv was dope. It reminded me so much of Sade's band Sweetback. Their 1996 self-titled album had the same groove; the same improvisational feel; the same laid back funk to it. I loved watching seasoned fingers strut across the keys flawlessly. You definitely have a knack for your craft, brother. Keep playin' that funky music, white-boy!
Hey Jonathon, been a huge fan of your playing ever since your 30 must have blues piano licks series with EV. I found those videos early in high school and I'm still using a few of them today as I studying jazz in college :) Loved the video, would love to see some tutorials on looping and even the Dorian work you did over the Fmi9 stuff while soloing. Really modally inspiring work!
Great stuff John - I'd love to see some of those longer keyboard runs close up - it's one of my weak points. Beautiful work - this should be up there with the absolute very best of the looping stuff on TH-cam! :)
Been a long time but worth the wait. Bloody Brilliant stuff. And yes, what is the software/hardware you're using for the loops ? I've nearly completed your Piano Funk Groove 4. The greatest tutorial on youtube imo and a piece I could've never learnt any other way. Would love another :)
My name is Jeff and I play keyboards and I gravitate to the funk When you talk about interlock Groove I think of Sly Stone the song is called in time in time thank you for sharing
What programs and mavhines are you using here to get looping, synth sounds, etc? Also, you are my faaavorite funk pianist!! I especially dig your off the cuff funk improv 001 vid where you say your levels were too hot. If you would please make tutorials on funk improv, chord progressions, licks, transcriptions, and your own influences, it would forever change how I make my own music :)
Hey, man? How are you? Love your video since 2012 and i learn SO MUCH ABOUT KEYS from you (i'm not professional musician from russia). Thank you for your videos, you are amazing teacher!
hey dude, awesome work. i really love your style. You have such an edgy sense of groove and rhythm. can you suggest any keyboard players to listen to. ones that have inspired you. wonderful playing, thanks. zac
Hee Jdub! Excuse me for being so forward but I read on your site (groovewindow) in a post that you were almost done with filming a tutorial on the piano funk groove in F, was/is this true? I'm a guitarist and don't read sheetmusic so the piano funk groove in Bb was really really awesome man, thanks!! Good to see you back!
+Caspar de Groen Hello! I'm currently working on a completely new funk groove tutorial (Number 5 in D), but my plan is to wrap up the one in F right after that. Stay tuned :)
Hey Jonathon! How you doin? You already had some time for the tutorial number 5 in D? Would be really awesome, if you somehow had no time for it, I get that big time. The stuff you put on TH-cam already is awesome.
