Had my Honor V10 (not Mate 10) dropped in water twice, it damaged the internals, sadly. But it's still working somehow, after changing the charge controller. Looks like the temperature sensor or something has been damaged inside and it is rebooting on its own sometimes. But I really love it and I searched for some time for a phone like that, nothing has matched my choice except Mate 10 model. It is almost similar to my V10. Yep, I'm ordering an 2017 phone in 2023 because it's too great. LED-indicator, Infrared sensor, the fingerprint scanner is on front side and no God damn notches on the screen and 2K resolution... This phone is just perfect for me. Also thank you for the video. I wish my Honor V10 was that waterproof 😅
Ok, so the regular mate 10 variant must have the same IP rating with the pro version yet manufacturers decided to make it appear that it doesn't. This makes the pro version seemingly 'way ahead' compared to the regular one so that many people will still buy it. Like, come on, the regular version has a lot to offer and is way cheaper. Just my opinion.
Yea ur ryt, the expandable memory and headphone jack too are very important features which they missed out on the pro. So the mate 10 so is a very practical buy compared to the pro version.

I think tests about time underwater would be more interesting if there was a way to do pressure tests like if you went diving with the phone because the Deeper you dive the more intense the pressure gets

So every open parts has rubber thingy to protect it from water right? But i wonder why it doesn't get the ip67 water resistant 🤔 I enjoy using the mate 10. It is very nice and value for money
Because those rubber seals aren't as good as the ones with ip67,so any submerge in water might damage the phone since those seals are meant to handle splashes,not submergence,so don't trust your mate 10 near water as the ip53 is only there to protect against small splashes like rain or accidental splashes from faucets or showers

Mate 10 is IP63, but mate10 pro is IP67. It seems mate 10 is much better than IP63 based on this test. I think it would be the audio jack in mate 10 which can compromise the water resistance if submerged too long under water.

Reason being I saw an article showing Mate 10 and the pro version being completely dismantled and all the seals looked very similar if not identical. It was the author of that article who asked the question in the first place and made me wonder what the reason was for not having IP67 on mate 10. One answer would be the way it's sealed, but that looks very alike on both phones. 2nd option the design of headphone jack or front fingerprint scanner. Conspiracy theory would be that Huawei doesn't want people to know that mate 10 is as waterproof as the pro is or very close to being that, because it would make even less sense to buy the pro over vanilla version. It's a very close call as it is. Inferior resolution on the pro much higher price 18:9 format bad for watching videos since you either get black bars or someones forehead gets cropped down to his eybrows :-D no headphone jack, no micro sd. Only positives being Oled panel vs IPS, always on display and waterproofing. And without the last one missing on mate 10 oled with it's always on is the only thing going for the pro. Unless you prefer 18:9 for browsing maybe. And even this although a better looking display and in theory more energy efficient may be susceptible to burn in's. I would never dream of taking mate 10 swimming even for a short period of time. What I really wanna know is would it survive a trip to the bottom of a swimming pool or a bath for around 30ish seconds after accidentally being dropped. Don't expect you to test it for me, just want your best guess. By the way, thanks for responding so quickly.

Just avoid the water when it is hot and you shouldn't have to worry about... I put my one in water to cool down after a benchmark, not submerged just under water flow... and 30minuts later it die... 😑 I send it to clean at an autorised huawei service but LCD is dead.. It works with HDMI cable and touch is nice also, but some times it became really slow... the mouse point move like if you emulate windows 10 in a 20 year old computer over virtual machine!!
No problem for head phone jack. The only thing we need to worry is the SIM card tray. Because after long time of using, the rubber on the tray could worn out.

Yes. Rubber protects it from water.
Because mate 10 has audio jack. That one reduces the overall IP number down to 63, which is not an issue on mate 10 pro.

My mate ten worked fine after putting it in water but the speakers weren't really working, but once it dried off the speakers were fine
