    His sounds are not bad. This amp is a Fender/Vox cleans and JCM800 dirt with 5 band master eq.
    It absolutely works for metal, you need a boost for the "burn" channel and all is well.
    The cleans and reverb are absolutely gorgeous.

    Hi.
    I don t understand what you are stalking about.
    1) Your using your Gibson. 70s PAFs re muddy from the get go. IF you re looking for more focus, hit IT with an EMG or a strong single coil or p90 bridge.
    2) Use the Mesa EQ right. Lower the Bass, up the Mids. Treble for need of spark and sharpness.
    3) Use the Contour. It Will give you the Mesa post EQ V what the Mesa Metal sounds are well know for. Was IT off?
    4) Use an EQ or some DS or OD pedal in front.
    IT s there. IF you want IT to be. A Mesa is like your lady. IT takes some care, accessories, patience in learning to get to know her and tweaking and then she might show you heaven ...
    Ive learned my Express and Express Plus respond better to single coils, p90s and very crisp and clear humbuckers.
    Did you test it with other axes as well.

      The epxress series doesn't have the tone controls before the gain like the Mark series but i do love the amp.

    Maybe you should dial down the bass eq-that’s where the flub is. You need mids to cut through.

    Just got this amp. I'm not a metal player. I wouldn't buy if I only played metal.
    I love it, it works great for my approach.

      Say please that combo can metal sound?

  • @therapy4thesick
    @therapy4thesick 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm not interested in this amp to do pure metal and don't think you should even be looking combo amp for that style. What I am interested in is a blue's amp that can get rough. I'm a player looking for warm mid lows when I'm bored with heavy stuff to do open mic stuff without demolishing the other players. So what's your opinion on this amp for that sort thing.

    • @omertuzer
      @omertuzer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Looks Express series are what you might be looking for. But do make sure to try Plus versions with much versatility and also that famous EQ when you might want to have metal scooped sounds. I own 5:25+ and pretty much satisfied. Cheers

    You should only have a triple rectifier from mesa I think curios what's your take on a marshall jvm 50 watt?

  • @colebengston3963
    @colebengston3963 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Get the 5:50 plus, turn gain all the way up, treble up to 8, mid to taste, bass below 3 and then put a classic V in the 5-band eq and crank the power section to at least 6. That will start breathing some fire! May need a power soak if the volume is too much, or a reactive load.

  • @TheDistortionPrinciple

    I agree when you said flubby. Your badass playing was buried under the amps tone

  • @MackTheKnifeSlowly
    @MackTheKnifeSlowly 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sounded good to me! I don't get the Ghost comparison at all (they're like boosted JMPs right? 70s style RnR?}. I'd like to hear CRUNCH to BURN - to me that's the unique part of the amp, that you can go kinda dirty into full saturatiion - rather than sparkle clean to full dirt. Anyway, woulda liked a solo'd guitar track and quick run through the 4 channels. Good demo song tho!

  • @reneotten7376
    @reneotten7376 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you want high gain tone somewhere between Marshall JCM and Fender, you take this. I am happy with the old 5:25 for now, I use it with a Tubescreamer for the thugging.

    I agree, the Express is not THE Metal amp, but it's a perfect blues and blues rock amp. It takes pedals very well. So, if you mostly play clean and crunch the Express is perfect. And if you like Metal sometimes just hook a fuzz or distortion pedal in front of the clean channel and you'll be happy enough.

    That amp is a classic rock amp. The only way you can get a metal tone out of that thing is to run a metal pedal of your choice through the clean channel (these amps take pedals really well). You need a Rectifier for your kind of music if you want to go Mesa. There's just no getting around it.

      @@xanderraymondcharles they're actually very misunderstood and tight amps, but you need to know how to set one up. With most Mesa amps, there's sweet spots. Also, everyone who complains that the amp is too loose and flubby doesn't know that you have to enable the fx loop in the back to control the master output, making the amp 10000000000% more usable.
