This has got to be one of the most relaxing videos I have ever seen, I'm playing this on a second monitor while at work, hearing the train horn and seeing the world go by while being cocooned in your room, you can't beat that for relaxation. I can't wait to go on it, I 'm booked in December....SNOW!
At first,I thought this video is too long and potentially boring, but not so, in fact,I've just virtually boarded zephyr #5 from Chicago to California. Thanks.
Finally - a Zephyr video showing Green River station and Thompson Springs (which was the stop until the mid 1990s. The station was visible in Thelma and Louise.)
Fantastic video David. I'm going Emeryville to Denver in September and wanted to get an idea of the best side of the train, though I realize I won't know what side I'll be on until I board due to the fact the cars can be hooked from either end. I too will have a roomette. Too bad about the incessant 40 minute jabber in the view car.
A lot of things I wondered about while speed-watching this video. Obviously, it seemed bizarre that nothing at all was identified for the whole video, which is a real shame. Then, unless TH-cam was getting jittery, I seemed like I watched the same shot of your roomette number several times in quick succession......? And, the roomette number was "21"? Normal Superliner roomettes are numbered 1 - 14, so perhaps this was the crew car? Would have been of interest to know that.
Being Being consistently on time is unlikely on that route, because of delays and yielding to freight trains. The Scenery of the Nevada and Utah are nice, like it could be in a western movie. This is luxury compared to what people in the 1800s had to endure on the trains back then.
I can't help but wonder if #71 has #201's old horn... the 201 lead my trip on the Chief back in 2019 and since then has gotten a new horn, this horn sounds just like 201's horn back in 2019.
What? I thought silent movies went out with Charlie Chaplin??? Not going to identify terminals??? I can understand making a video with no sound... but, you have sound; so why not tell us once in a while where we are!!! What body of water is that at the beginning??? What terminal are we stopping at??? Interesting scenery, but it isn't worth a damn if we do not know what it is, or where it's at!!! Documentation does have voice notes to it!!! I'm sure those river's have names??? If your not going to talk, at least turn your volume on the camera off... your neighbors mumbling in the background gets annoying after a while
Highbrow of Amtrak. All Amtrak train conductors and employees wearing Masks yet they seat random strangers and people next to one another with an empty train and if you ask to have a separate seat they do everything their power to look down upon you. Horrible crew and train.

Just back from a short trip up to reno
Thank you for this wonderful thoughtful video! It's what I have been looking for, the California Zephyr, from Emeryville TO Chicago.
Wonderful video…the Zephyr is an institution that every citizen should experience at least once.

Excellent footage…reminds me of Youtuuba. His Amtrak videos are also great.
Thank you.
So excited. Will ride this train next month!😊
Well done on this video.
Hi David, this is a wonderful video. I've been on the Southwest Chief but not on The Zephyer. Both a great trains.
Shout-out to that heart-shaped cloud!
This is a GREAT video. That burning truck was insane! Awesome content!

Had women board in Reno and talk nonstop until Martinez. Never again will I do coach after that!
1:43:00 How did pass through Salt Lake City during daylight hours? I took that same route and it was late at night!

There is another video that covers this same route and it shows every single bit both day and night. It's 8 videos long.
What is the shiny object on the mountaintop at 2:51:00?
@@DavidsYTchannel I know what a UFO is but not a UAP? Can you enlighten me?
