Excellent Presentation 💐 Hearty Greetings from Hyderabad, India 🇮🇳
While I enjoy long train journeys, I do recommend adding layovers on these long routes. As you ride through many of these cities and towns I desire to spend a day there, so therefore I plan my train journeys with layovers. I am sure many would love to spend a day in Reno, Salt Lake City, Denver, or Omaha if they have never been there before. Likewise with many of the smaller towns such as Truckee, Glenwood Springs, or Burlington, if only to enjoy their local fishing hole... I enjoy spending nights at small town bed and breakfasts which usually are within walking distance of many of these small town depots... Riding Amtrak is a great way to see America, but it is also a great way to EXPERIENCE America...
great ride along trip video on this long distance train
nice inside and outside walk though tours too with station report information
All I have to say is I am sorry for Salt Lake City's bad train station which is a true Amshack. We are working on fixing it with the Rio Grande Plan so we can get trains back to the Rio Grande Depot.
Perhaps 1 day another connection to a revived Pioneer or Desert Wind would be nice as well!
Now Amtrak 6 departs at 825am!
You want a real Amshack look up South bend Indiana
I am a fellow community member. I rode from Salt Lake to Chicago back in 2011. I had someone at that time who accompanied me to the station, and was there when I returned. I contacted Amtrak around 2015, about it considering a stop at the Murray Central Trax station, one reason being the secure long-term parking. I received a considerate reply that explained that it wasn't feasible because it's too close to the Provo station.
Thanks!
nice to see that your train had heritage 184 in the engine line up
we know this heritage was sent for a re paint but It seams like Amtrak didn't have the right heritage pant for it so they painted it back into the regular Amtrak scheme sadly
but its heritage scheme as been saved naw on 164 these days because 164 id 184 replacement for the IV heritage scheme
Nice!
Emeryville California that where Pixar animation studios film is besides San Francisco and Oakland
Fantastic video. I subscribed.
One of the things I love about riding long Amtrak routes is the stops where you have 20 or more minutes to walk the town. Really nice to get off the train and see a new place that I would have never seen if I drove or flew.
@8:43 that hot dog is gross, cake looks great though. I'm also curious about that seemingly adult man that's not "allowed" to watch or look at certain things because of nightmares.
@11:33 Seeing the difference in the weather on a single trip is interesting. High elevation snow is crazy.
@14:10 Salmon looks tasty.
@27:10 WOW! That's so beautiful!
@29:35 Needs sausage gravy 😋
@29:43 Utah looks amazing. I'm going to have to ride this train at some point.
@31:42 Wow! Doesn't even look real.
@34:45 I really like passenger trains, but also love seeing track maintenance.
@38:23 Stunning.
Hope you were able to take advantage of that sleeper and get some rest at some point. Seems like you were up all night filming!
when was this taken....we're embraking for nine days Amtrak Rail Pass ride with no stayover from Orlando to Portland and then back on jul13
Amtrak Rail Pass is Amtrak's best value although riding in coach... Enjoy your journey...
Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. LATE trains are just accepted as completely normal. I booked a trip from Denver to Emeryville to depart in a couple of days. So, I’ve been watching the “real”time route map for the last couple of days to see how this goes. Not one train is on time, ever. Looks like at least two hours sometimes more is the standard delay. If that’s the case and they just accept that as completely normal, then why not change the schedules to reflect the delays as expected? Talk about bad customer relations, you’re shooting your selves in the foot by not properly managing customer expectations. I guess it’s because there’s only one track for both directions for much of the journey, and I understand that freight takes precedence. I get it. But when a train has to sit for an hour waiting for another train to pass in the other direction because there are not sufficient numbers of sidings enroute for like hundreds of miles? Jeeze, how hard would it be to build a few more sidings? I’ve done train trips in Europe and it’’s nothing like this. Sad. This is why Americans don’t take the train. Step it up Amtrak we need decent rail service. Not creaky old trains and not enough routes or tracks for those routes. I don’t know what they have to do, lobby Congress? If so let’s do it, America needs rail.
Took long distance train but greatly disappointed in April. Won't do again unless I have to! Highly overrated!
What didn't you enjoy? I can't imagine riding in a seat with better scenery coast to coast... You see all of America though, the front yards and the back yards... Purple mountain majesties to forests to farms to the industrial areas... It may not be the best food, or the smoothest ride, or even arriving on time, but you do eventually get there usually well rested... Someone else did the driving, cooking, dishes, and cleaning... All you have to do is sit back and relax...
It's not for everyone,especially if your on a deadline!
I like all of my AMTRAK trips, nice to travel at see level.
