To be honest, I really don't see why this is praised into the heavens by some. The music is pretty good but the japanese lyrics that never rhyme are so unsatisfying and if hardly touches the "Best of all time" staple often put on it by Jerma. The concept is very original and applied expertly, but it's not like it's as huge of a game such as even some mario games.

I just discovered this game because it was free for a weekend and $5 on the eshop and as I was playing it I audibly said while playing "this is a Jerma game" and of course, he played it years ago lol. I appreciate this so much when hidden gems get their time to shine and Jerma never fails to tap into those hidden masterpieces.
Glad you're widening your horizon (and sorry to be rude), but Katamari Damacy is hardly a hidden gem. It's one of the most critically acclaimed PS2 games, it's on Wikipedia's list of "video games considered the best" (clearly a reputable source, of course), is the poster child for "weird Japanese games", and any gaming enthusiast worth a damn should be well aware of its existance. But that's why it's good this remaster can reach a new audience and continue to spread the magic.

That's kinda the beauty of the game; its story is usually ignored because of just how bizarre the gameplay is, but the premise is that the King of All Cosmos accidentally destroys the cosmos, and the people of earth aren't happy with his mistake, so they volunteer to let themselves and their belongings be rolled up to recreate the stars. It's an addicting game.
