    I think the line of studs along the platform aren't just for posing, but simulate raised bumps to let people with vision impairments know they are getting close to the track. We have them all over Japan and on the sidewalks. People can use a can to feel the way and know an intersection is coming up based on the type of bump patterns. (A little extra info... we also have bird chirps in the station near exits so these same people can use sound to navigate, and birds singing isn't annoying to other passengers as a chime or deep might be)

      Even im Toronto,Canada we have them. Edmonton also has them on its LRT.

    • @Train_Chaser-KeiTruckUrbanist
      @Train_Chaser-KeiTruckUrbanist ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But they are just for posing as they are really far back from the platform, even by Japanese standards.

    About the train: Lego trains are super sensitive to friction, particularly when they go around tight (i.e. non custom) Lego curves.
    Some possible fixes:
    Rebuild the 3 bogies using the 3x6 train wheel hub (preferably the original style with metal axles).
    Technic train wheels and axles have a lot of friction between the axle and the technical brick. The wheels aren't fixed in position axially along the axle so can get pushed together, creating friction between the wheel and the technic brick. They also have unremovable rubber reaction tyres, which are good for the motorised wheels as the grip the track better, but bad for unpowered wheels.
    Place the battery box directly over the powered bogie to increase the weight on the wheels
    Lastly, use fresh batteries! I've found that power function trains lose a lot of torque very quickly

    I wonder how awesome it would look if you had a few of these sets to stretch the station a bit longer.
    This is definitely my favorite of the recent Bricklink Designer sets. Thanks for sharing!

    That's a beautiful building!! The amount of detail is perfect and makes it look so real! It will be gorgeous in the city and it looks able to modify to serve the raised train as well!!

  • @Galermolat
    @Galermolat ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Dang this set is brilliant

  • @WardMaris
    @WardMaris ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I’ve built this one, it’s very beautiful once finished, but it’s definitely not up to par with LEGO’s standards. The way the roof went together was very finnicky and frustrating and the train design is also very fragile, the roof of the trains pop off and where the yellow and black meet diagonally it’s not secure either…

  • @woodreg
    @woodreg ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The reason why the train is having issues is because it's wheels are held in place by technic axles rather than metal rods, this makes aligning them very difficult and creates a lot of rolling resistance - just try pushing the other non-motorized one by hand - it's not easy - so I plan to change the wheels also. I think this is the biggest flaw in the whole set, but not difficult to fix. It's nothing to do with weight, generally the trains need some weight to gain traction...
    Also, whilst I love the look of the set, once you've built it you realize that there could be more detail added - like a ticket room or waiting room etc, I plan to mod mine to add these, and of course a longer platform. And like another poster mentioned, the tracks only being 4 studs apart is problematic when you would normally expect 8 studs gap, but understand why the designer built it that way to have platforms either side, it looks more balanced.

  • @Brickticks
    @Brickticks ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I honestly just want the engines. I think they’d look so good back to back. Plus, they have defective PF-era couplers, which means they can be retrofitted with proper 9V-era couplers, which are not defective and always provide a solid coupling. Also, anybody else thinking 9V for these engines? They’d make a good intercity commuter train. Rockatoa, Brickticks out!

  • @FelipeVinhao
    @FelipeVinhao ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The station itself doesn't need any comments as it's amazing just seeing it from a far point of view. But seeing how the train was made, and the details weren't added as huge stickers but several slope pieces is really a positive point on this set. This train could be easily used as a subway train on your elevated lines.

    Cant' wait to see the station in it place and the park all together !

  • @BanesFist
    @BanesFist ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That’s an amazing station. I think you’ll just have to redo your entire city to have two train lines side by side. Then this can be placed downtown as the main city station. I’m kidding! That would be insane and I like the use of the switch track to integrate it. Those engines scream 9v motor to me. It would be awesome to see those with custom cars rocketing around. Hopefully the kids take some naps so you have fun with the new station!

    Hey Bricksie, someone may have mentioned this already but trixbrix have a switch track that is narrower that you could use to help take up less space, definitely worth a look, cheers

  • @rafrac2862
    @rafrac2862 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think you should put it in the amusement park it would take up a lot of space but if you connect it to one of your other train tracks you’ll have two ways of getting into the amusement park

  • @velocityindustries

    I think you should put the 2 trains from this set together and use it as a city tram. You could make a new line embedded in the road and have that train run on it.

  • @theflemishlion
    @theflemishlion ปีที่แล้ว

    Another way to go from two parallel tracks with 8 studs between them to 4 studs is to use a double 90-degree corner. Place a single flex track, acting as a straight that's only 4 studs long, before the inner corner. This will move the exit of the inner corner 4 studs closer to the outer one, resulting in a double line with only 4 studs between them after the corner.

  • @BrickMD
    @BrickMD ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I know it might be heresy, but take a look at third party tracks like trixbrix. They make switch tracks with varying gaps between the tracks, including a 4 gap set which I think would work great here. Really lets you keep the outside track footprint more compact.

    I would buy 2 sets and some extra pieces, put them on 4 x 32 studs mils plates. So it would have double the length and be deeper to accomodate more gap between the rails and between the platform and have room to build some extra waiting area on ground level. And connect your station to the main track and the park track.

    Great looking set. Thanks for reviewing it.
    If you can get the amusement park train to fit in the station, I think linking your main city line on one side of the station and the amusement park on the other side would "link"the city to the park and add a bit mir telling.
    Keep up the good work

    Really like the design of that train station super cool with its Gothic design, I think it would look best near town hall it's where it would make the most sense in a real town but I also know that there's not a lot of space there , but there is lots of space on the raised platform? Maybe

    Hey bricksie, nice station! Looks awesome, maybe consider the 9volt system? I had this problem myself with de train mocs i made they couldn't pull the weight, then I switched to 9 volt and the problem was gone. I think 9volt is way better then the RC system in my opinion. But in your city it's an insane job switching to 9volt. Much love and respect for you and your family ❤

    • @gta71000
      @gta71000 ปีที่แล้ว

      9volt is hands down way better tbh. You can do so much more for details and power than what the current rc ones can handle (plus no need to buy over 6+ as batteries and 4 AAA batteries)

    I think the problems you hit with the track alignment, platform clearances, weight of the carriages and also the incredibly large size of the station show why the Bricklink Designer Program sets aren't always perfect. I think if it was a LEGO Ideas set the size would have been 32x48 and the track alignment would have been spot on. I seem to remember you had a problem with the connection roof of the bowling alley and the fairly empty interiors of the Venetian Houses? I also find the lack of anything on the platforms, coffee shop waiting rooms, toilets, disappointing. Looks like far too many bricks/much time and energy spent on the outside patios which aren't that realistic to my mind. More needed on the interior of the station, I seem to to remember a smaller Ideas program station that I feel is more realistic.

    I'm curious how this 48x48 set would fit into a standard 32x32 modular building city grid. Would you put a 16x48 space in front to offset it back away from a city street and allow room for the train lines to go behind neighboring buildings?

    Seems like a good customization would be to make it a single track coming through. You could make the platform larger, center the track beneath the chandelier, and give enough width for the Disney train (or a modified UCS Hogwarts Express) to fit. Excellent video as always, Jordan!

  • @matejkusnierz6242
    @matejkusnierz6242 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's kinda weird to me that the designer of this set didn't think about the distance between those tracks. He really should have made it the same width as the train track switch. Anyways, the set looks nice, I love some of those details around the build. And I think the Power Up stuff are a little more powerful so I think the train would struggle a lot less

      @@NMLE well, the front side, where the sidewalk is, feels kinda useless to me as you're not gonna put it next to other modulars anyways. The other solution would be just to build it on more 32 x 32 baseplates, but i guess it would be way too big
