In Nova Scotia, new minor hockey rules on words like this have to HEARD by the refs. I know multiple people including myself who have received penalties for this exact word, and have told refs players saying racial or homophobic slurs, when not heard by refs. I myself have been suspended because a times keeper told a ref I called someone pussy. I find refs and league are just looking for players to rat on others.
We're talking about teenagers playing hockey. Using the "P" word is common vernacular as an insult between both friends and rivals and isn't meant as a derogatory term (such as the "N" word or the "F" word - the "F" word I'm referring to being derogatory towards homosexuals.) I think the league went way too overboard on this one.

The leadership in hockey culture is a total mess. One player makes a credible threat to injury him, and there is no punishment, but he says a bad word and gets the book thrown at him. This is something I feel needs to be addressed since the whole Brad Marchand recent comments. It should be totally unacceptable to think about deliberately injuring an opponent. If you can't beat your opponent within the rules, it means you are bad at hockey and should lose, it doesn't mean you should injury them so you can win easier. In my opinion, Brad Marchand should get a 6 month suspension for saying what he did, it totally obliterates the spirit of the game, and it's a huge shame that so many people actually agree with him regarding the playoffs.
If he said some racist or derogatory slur (N word, Brit word for cigarette or somethign like that), then i could understand it a little, but he just said ''Pussy''. If that warrants a suspension, then there wouldnt be any players left

"Does hockey have an issue with hate and bigotry, yeah *sometimes*" Fan of the channel but this was not it. NHL is the only major sport that folded immediately to pressure and put a pause on pride and the fanbase responded with... nothing. No one seems to be embarrassed. The sport has a problem with hate that isn't casual or some of the time. Not trying to pick on Eck, but I think a lot of people seem to have blindspot to the significance of what happened this past season and I wish more people were talking about it, so here I am. I've been watching this sport for 30 years and if they don't correct this for the upcoming season I'm stepping away. And thankfully my kids are young enough that I can just point them towards other sports that don't acquiesce to the the worst base level instincts of their fanbases. One more thing to anyone out there who really cares about this sport: Forget for a moment if you think pride is political or not (it's not). The sport itself will suffer. Gen Z isn't going to be interested in a sport that is green-lighting homophobia. The future is not looking good for this game.
It doesn't matter. London will win the Memorial Cup. Landon Sim will get a nice ring. The other guy will go home and cry about it all summer. That's real justice for you!
I guarantee the people making the decision to suspend him have used that word on countless occasions in the same way. It's part of the English language and is in every hockey player, hell even most Canadian citizens vocabulary
0:33 So the player that threatened to break another man's shoulder gets away with it but the guy that might have offended a woman in theory gets suspended.....
In my opinion, Saginaw was looking for any leverage to help them beat the Knights who won the Division title over Saginaw in the regular season, because Saginaw is the host team this year for the Memorial cup. The fact that Hache father was the head of the officials is biased as well... to bad The Knights are the better TEAM overall ❤
Justin/Eck first this isnt the video I wanted on the CHL ...lol The OHL is a little brain dead at the top and this helps prove it. Now that said am a huge fan of Junior Hockey and especially my London KNIGHTS, in 2014(London) I went to five games
There's no way the league's appeal process doesn't change now. He shouldn't have been suspended, there's no real argument to say that the player intended to bully or harass the player on the basis of identity. And because it's less than 10, he can't argue against it.
Both players are late round draft picks too. Think Sims, they guy who was suspended is a Blues pick and the other guy who actually was suspended earlier in the playoffs or something for a few games for something else he is a Devils(I think) pick. Both players are long shots to make it to the NHL but they could tangle with each other in the AHL. I think maybe a hit or something I dunno. But it does seem the OHL hands out suspensions pretty easy. Also Sims I guess was checking or hitting the other guy in warm ups when this all happened which I'm guessing played some of the role in the suspension.
The OHL went from one extreme to another, from being very lenient on criminal things like sexual abuse to suspending a player multiple games for saying a mild insult in response to another player threatening to injure him. We live in a weird messed-up era of human history.
They wouldn't care if someone called him a "Richard" or "Johnson," which would be a similar situation. Did we forget how common calling someone a D is and what that word can also refer to? This is over-correctness over a word whose origins aren't necessarily tied to women anyway.

Bro my teammate got called that IN MINOR HOCKEY and nothing happened😂
Me who watched Slap Shot and would always reference the scene where Dunlop was chirping at the goalie. Man, my old Bantam team would all be suspended 💀
This just in: OHL rebrands to “Little Good Boys League” they’re going to have grandma and grandpa reffing
Probably the opposite, Gramps would bring back the 70's.
The OHL are a bunch of Kitties!
One point you didn't touch, that guy threatened to injure a player and the guy calling him a pussy gets punished. That's like a South Park episode.
That just reflects Canada and free speech laws
That’s such horse crap. Hope London endures this garbage call, and take the Memorial Cup this year. The Hunter brothers are absolute legends for bringing this team out of the dumpster and into contenders each and every year. Their hand in bringing that new arena into the downtown area was essential.
Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will also hurt me
Careful, Eck. You’re gonna get suspended by the OHL for this video.
Man threatens to break someone’s shoulder: nothing happens. Man calls him out on it: man is suspended. Please make that make sense for me bcs I’m struggling
Nobody talking about the fact someone actually ratted for that???
Someone in the OHL should go watch some of the NHL trash talking videos.
They'd shit their pants.
British word for cigarette is Fag.
All I can say is I miss the days when men and woman were two different things.
@@matthewbarry7026 That has nothing to do with this story, and "those days" that you talk about have never existed. Gender identity has always differed from sex.
@@am34wrong, there was once a time when a sliver of society with wacko views did not dictate things for the majority.
@@mattjek828 In no way do trans / non-binary people "dictate things for the majority" nor are they asking for that. They just want to exist without ongoing discrimination and violence. No one is forcing you to change your own identity. Just to treat people with basic human decency.
That is pretty funny. I had an image of mcdavid going in the penalty box for swearing
As a law student hearing the word "administrative law" just gave me a gigantic jumpscare so thanks for that.
BRO that is the most ridiculous suspension. OHL emphasis on the L
Why are almost all the series 4-0 or 4-1? As an American that doesn't watch it, it seems kinda crazy.
I find myself rooting for the Knights now after that.
This is like swearing in middle school and you get sent to the office
Thats crazy, it not even that bad, 5 games is unbelievable
He was proven right, that Dman's surname needs to become the new OHL slang for the meany-meany-P word.
Yep that is some "pussy" shit
In my opinion, Saginaw was looking for any leverage to help them beat the Knights who won the Division title over Saginaw in the regular season, because Saginaw is the host team this year for the Memorial cup. The fact that Hache father was the head of the officials is biased as well... to bad The Knights are the better TEAM overall ❤
This story is most definitely Canadian
Justin/Eck first this isnt the video I wanted on the CHL ...lol The OHL is a little brain dead at the top and this helps prove it. Now that said am a huge fan of Junior Hockey and especially my London KNIGHTS, in 2014(London) I went to five games
There's no way the league's appeal process doesn't change now. He shouldn't have been suspended, there's no real argument to say that the player intended to bully or harass the player on the basis of identity. And because it's less than 10, he can't argue against it.
ive used it, still use it, and will continue to use it
An oddly enough, proved him correct once the guy went crying to the refs.
But having is okay for the OHL?
FIVE GAMES?!
Threatening someone like that then tattling on them for clapping back is so cowardly
Canadian moment
😆😆😆 I went to a Rangers game when I was a kid and learned a few new words thank you Tie Domi
LOL PEOPLE ACTING LIKE HE SAID THE N WORD OR SOMETHING, HOCKEY AND THE ENTIRE WORLD IS GOING SOFT!!!!
Even then, why should anyone care? Are you gonna pretend to be offended or pretend that ⚫ people get offended?
But your honour, I only posted a single letter of the alphabet in the replies. It’s not up to me what letters other people wrote after it 🤷🏻♂️
N
What's wrong with the 'n' word?? Pull up a dictionary and at least 2 definitions have nothing to do with race.
@@ClarenceJBoddicker1987Be real. Slurs dont belong in the game. none of them
Wow what a fucking joke indeed
Eck, is his last video just cried about "online toxicity"
Wtf
One threatens to harm another player in the same spot he is injured, Other guy says a bad word but that's the line 💀
Sign of the times …
