- As Baramullah goes to polls on 20 May, 23-year-old Abrar Rashid, son of Sheikh Abdul Rashid, popularly known as Engineer Rashid, is campaigning for his father. Rashid, jailed in Tihar in a case of terror funding, is contesting as an independent candidate from North Kashmir-a region plagued by militancy and political dormancy for years. Baramulla is witnessing an interesting triangular electoral contest between Omar Abdullah, Sajjad lone and Rashid engineer. Abdullah has changed his seat from Srinagar to Baramulla to paper over the cracks among local cadre. Sajjad is vouching for change and raising developmental issues. Omar is terming him Anti-muslim and proxy of the BJP. Both have an equal stakes. If Sajjad wins, he will a new star on the horizon. If Omar losses it will be a big setback to the NC. On the whole, fault lines are drawn and Kashmir is in a for a churn.
