I bet no one else has ever made Nole drop to his knees on a tennis court. You've got to be beyond amazing to break that man's resolve for even a moment.
#2 against Stepanek is my absolute favourite. From the deceleration to the acceleration to the wrist work at the end, it eas completely unreal. We will miss you, Rafa ❤❤❤
For real, what kind of witchcraft was that? Stepanek made one unreturnable shot after another and yet the ball kept coming back. I'd resign on the spot if that were me, ain't no way I'm beating someone playing like that.
Both did so well is what made it so special, I feel like there were 5 or 6 returns that each individually looked very hard. Even the final return attempt Stepanek seemed to do the "right thing" & did connect, it just wasn't enough.
same i remember seeing him on TV in 2009 on a vacation in singapore. I was 4 and have rooted for this man ever since. I can't idolize anyone like him ever again.
Great influence of change in the game Rafa. You inspired so many different returns, that those involved had to keep up. Amazing. Most sorely missed in leaving the game but hope the best for you and your precious family.
Thank you Rafa for all the memories, you are a true champion and your sportsmanship has been incredible throughout your career You are an inspiration to millions around the globe
Rafa, you have been a monolith of this sport. Just like when Roger retired, I feel that a part of me is retiring with you. Tennis will never be the same without you. Your impact on this sport will probably never be fully understood or cuantified. Again, just like with Roger, I will miss seeing you play, the emotions, the fighting, the shots, I will miss waking up in the middle of the night to see you play. I will always be your fan. Enjoy your family and loved ones!
The best part is, there are tons of points that could have been put in this video, like that crazy return against Shapo in Rome 2021, or the backhand slice return against Monfils in China or Tokyo 2010 (I don't remember exactly), not forgetting about the hundreds of banana shots on the run he has hit throughout his whole career, absolute legend, made us spaniards proud
That's because for Nadal mentally it was very difficult to play against Djokovic, Djokovic came later and was younger, and had similar style, physically and mentally to play someone who plays as good as you is tough.
@@arvidl5666yeh you’re right… whereas Davydenko and Verdasco REALLY had his measure. What are you talking about? It’s literally just a collection of top 10 shots chosen subjectively. They could’ve included 1 Fedal point

I'm Italian. Unless he was playing against an Italian, I've always rooted for Nadal. It may seem exaggerated, rhetorical, but I've always thought this when I saw him play: "The way Nadal plays is how you should live your life." Thanks, Rafa.
Of all his matches, the one that I remember most is the AO 2009 semifinal vs. Verdasco. And yes, I watched the 2008 Wimby and 2012/2017 Australian Open live from start to finish.
I thought that one banana shot in Monte Carlo where he was wearing purple would def make it here. Regardless, thank you Rafa for everything you have done. There will never be a player like you again.
Most points against djoko. 2 legends. And I'm sure when djoko retires his top 10 will include mostly points against rafa. Because these 2 have pushed each other to levels unheard of
I think if we're talking about "shots" that one against schwartzman in monte carlo 2017 should be there, it was an incredible shot, a few of these are more so good points opposed to shots
The points against Joker were so mentally and physically taxing. Watching them not budge an inch and force a ridiculous shot to win the point is such a joy.
I miss four points: 1) With Federer in Australian Open 09 after more than 20 shots 2) A banana shot in AO 09 with Verdasco 3) The famous forehand with Cilic in Us Open 2019 where Tiger Woods stood up 4) A forehand in Roland Garros 2017 vs Wawrinka
Tribute to Nadal, but also a Djokovic appreciation video. Just goes to show the quality needed to beat Djokovic. Thank you for inspiring the whole world of sports, Rafa! Can't wait to see his final match!
Fermo il video lettera a Nadal caro rafa ti ho amato guardato sperato e non conosciuto sei un tennista più forte di federer io ti ringrazio prt aver presentato la Spagna grazie rafa thank you
Number 2 from 2005 quarterfinal in Rome against Stepanek is the best, he did impossible, he returned 3 winners. Similar to what Federer did to Agassi in Dubai 2005. And also both Federer and Nadal cooked djokovic with legendary tweeners, and they both cooked him with a 6:0 beatdown... lot of similar things, testament to skill of a whole different level.
All the points are from pre 2012 times when Rafa used to be fit for atleast 80% of the season. Its scary to imagine what would Nadal's GS and title count be if he was fit throughout the season for 10 straight seasons at his peak like Novak
3:52 This moment is different from 4:44 . In the former Nadal's ball could, _from his body, his hand and racket and the close distance from the net,_ only go cross court: while in the latter case again from all those things mentioned minus the distance from the net (relatively long distance here) the ball could go either straight and long, straight and short, towards Davydenko's body or cross court. So in the first case, Novak and every player in that position could get the point or at least keep the ball in play more if he was in the right position (cross court) while in the latter case it is up to fate (or chances) for the opponent of such ball. At least this is how I see it so comment if you disagree.
the most of djokovic's top shots are against nadal also ....... bro it's the greatest rivalry of all time in tennis history... but overall novak djokovic is the goat
I´m a Rafa´s fan, most of these points are in counter attack where you see Rafa is playing very short balls making his oponents take the initiative for finally pass them, the drawback of this is that he has made an inmense effort over his career to keep achieving so much , a lot of injuries , quite a few of them could have avoided because when Rafa played agresive as in 2008 and 2010 he was ralentless , also his serve has been a drawback during all his career , keeping him from getting quite a few hard courts titles , for incredible his career is , the incredible thing is that it could have been considerably better had he been able to correct these flaws ..
We don't know if we will ever have another era with three kings involved, this was such an amazing time for tennis. Farewell, Rafael, after this year. Congrats to all of your titles, accomplishments, example, character and the excitement you gave us and memories cemented in our minds eye world of sports and tennis.
