I used to obsess over Eli's DVD commentaries, he's a lot like Quentin in terms of his love and knowledge for cinema. I could listen to him talk for hours. I think his first three films are excellent and Knock Knock is wonderful as well. Can't wait for Thanksgiving.
Eli's a cool dude, not really that much of a fan of most of his films but Hostel is a wild one. He's very passionate and pretty knowledgeable of the genre so gotta respect it. I'm still debating if I want to see thanksgiving. I just know I'm gonna wince and feel heavy induced anxiety seeing it lol
🎙A REAL PODCAST🎙
So excited that Chadima is shooting this movie, those two Hostel movies look incredible and so authentic.
Eli roth reignites my passion for film making and movie watching.. love this dude, very much in a Quentin vein..
I haven't watched Thanksgiving yet. I'm definitely going to watch it in theaters. Great interview and kudos to Jake for standing up to his review.
All of the reviews seemed genuine. That's what the viewers want. Great episode guys 👍
Amazing interview guys! Loved it!
Eli kicks ass
Loved Thanksgiving! Saw it twice this weekend and am planing to see it again next weekend
Here's the thing what people don't get especially this guy Jake. This is gonna sound like I'm reaching but the old Grind house movies from the 70s and 80s were far from perfect. They were often slogs, bad dialogue, bad acting, made outside the studio system on, not even shoe string budgets. But intermittently or eventually, there's sex, violence, nudity, admittedly gratuitous! Their still classics many of them because even if they were cheesy or even very badly plotted or even improvised, those movies were unique and of their time. I'd even go so far as say they have a chram to them! They also were more ballsy then anything, made today. For example Dario Argento's movies or the Giallo (Italian horror movies) style ripoffs, Blacksploitation as in the Pam Grier, Jim Brown movies, the southern Sexploitation movies like Dixie Dynamite. So for the Grindhouse movie, Machete, Thanksgiving, etc I think that old fashioned, B movie, style was exactly what Roth, Tarantino and the other filmmakers were going for. I invite Jake to check out Tubi, there's a whole big selection of Grindhouse films which might make him, get ,what the original movie was trying to go for. To me, the original Grindhouse movie from 2007 is a masterpiece!
this movie was boring and underwhelming
Absolutely fantastic interview!
Bonjour Reelblend!
I love this podcast, so much!!
Great interview
BACK AFTER A WEEK OFF WE MISS YOU GUYS
love the talk about the inside baseball about ratings systems
Check out the documentary “This film is not yet rated” from 2006 all about the MPAA
I want this movie by Christmas 🎄 with all deleted scenes!!!🧙🍗
Back to blending baby🎉🎉
Not the biggest fan of Roth films but I love his history of horror series AMC and Thanksgiving was fun
Eli is really leaning into the John Waters look
Jake has some bad takes. Thanksgiving is a great slasher
Jake "I genuinely loved this film" Hamilton
Hey, we call him “JakesTakes” not “Jake always agrees with your Takes” 😉
Glad you enjoyed the film! More original horror in November, please.
this movie was underwhelming and really boring at times. the teens were awful.
Did you actually watch the individual Grindhouse releases? Because they had all the grain and dirt that was present in the theatrical cuts.
Love me some pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving
To be honest, I'd rather watch Thanksgiving than any of Tarantino's films. Terrific work, Mr. Roth.
Now normally I differ with Sean’s opinions most of all but today I’m gonna have to agree with my man and question what ol Jake’s talking about?! Thanksgiving is a instant horror classic that will get constant rotation around thanksgiving for years to come. Not solely because of the title but because it’s just a great slasher film! Jake step it up my friend you dropped the ball on this one! Question for anyone who may read this…. of the 3 host which one is not the biggest Tarantino fan?? I always forget and have been meaning to listen to some old podcast so I can be reminded who doesn’t know what there talking about. It’s all in love fellas, loyal listener!
. this movie was kind of boring outside of the kills, really bad characters and without the groundhouse is just generic
felt like a cw show.
No The Killer review? Haven’t finished episode yet so sorry if you have reviewed it
Not this week, schedules have been crazy with these awesome guests (great problem to have) but we will make time to give it its due!
Awesome thanks for the reply really interested to what you guys think of napoleon and if that 4 hour edition on Apple TV is actually a thing rather than just a rumour
"Like "Return of the King"?" Says @sean with a wicked grin #trolling #dig 😅😅😅
That's awesome that that's him doing that voice I had no idea. Movie was sick! Gonna go again tonight
No question about his shirt ?
Looks like he projects to play the lead in a remake of Mambo kings
I deeply admire and appreciate your reviews but did we really watch the same movie? While the brutality was welcome, BoSS ultimately felt like a CW adaptation instead of a fascinating villain origin story. Poor pacing, schlocky dialogue, wafer thin characterisation. Thank goodness Viola Davis was having a blast hamming it up at least!
EXACTLY
WE know it already happens
Dude really, you have the audacity to review this movie(claim to love it)yet didn’t sit through the end credits(which were brilliant. You embarrassed yourself and clearly upset Mr.Roth. You are so lucky to have garnered a preview and an interview. Very much enjoyed Eli Roth and his energy and love for cinema. You however failed. Don’t expect another opportunity to interview him.
No leftovers for you.
Eli is showing a lot of privilege here The only reason they give you a discussion is because he’s a big budget filmmaker. Trey Parker and Matt Stone talk about this. On Orgazmo they got an NC 17 and Trey asked the MPAA what they needed to cut but they said we don’t do that. Because Eli has never made a feature film under a million dollars he doesn’t understand this.
There were two lead anuses in BoSS - Coriolanus Snow, Sejanus Plinth - and both were boring.
Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes? More like Ballad of Yawns & Headaches :P
I want a Easter 🐣 horror slasher gore movie better then bunny man masacre and Easter bunny 🐰 kill kill
i agree with Jake. this movie was kind of boring outside of the kills, really bad characters and without the groundhouse is just generic. the end reveal was lame.
Roth sold out. Should have made the movie more like the original trailer and his last work. Take notes from your mentor Quentin Tarantino the goat next time.
HE LOVES "PORKY'S"......'Nuff Said.
Sham.
