Mel C is the best solo Spice. Has the voice and songwriting talent. 'I Turn To You' amazing dance track and still sounds fresh 22 years on. "Carolyna" should have been a huge hit. Geri is fun, 'Calling' should have been a bigger hit sadly. Very heartbreaking ballad and shows she can sing. Emma really suited the 60s vibe. 'Maybe' should have been a huge #1 hit. Best song of 2003! I like her cover of 'Downtown'. Vicki - she's not the best singer but the most successful and a decent woman. 'Let Your Head Go' is my fave solo song of hers. Mel B, gorgeous and good personality I probably like "Tell Me", "Lullaby" and "Today". Her second album is bloody awful mind!

And that continued presence has definitely helped her previous albums and singles maintain some sort of appreciation on streaming and with sales. And of course I’m not overlooking her diverse musical styles and impressive vocal talents. I was simply pointing out that Geri, arguably the least talented dancer and singer, had more number ones than any of the other Spice Girls, the highest charting solo album in the UK (and the US, somehow), and I think is the only Spice Girl to perform on the Brit Awards as a solo artist. And she basically only had one and a half successful solo albums.

Fascinating video as I love chart history. Here in the US, the Spice Girls did not have the Mega success as in the UK. When "Spice Up Your Life" (my FAVE!) was released, the single went gold here, but US Radio decided to shut out another UK act, I believe because they may have gotten tired of them. "Spice Up" hit #18 on the Billboard chart, but stalled at #72 on the Radio Airplay chart which was appalling for a gold single! You can see that this was the beginning of the end of their US career. As far as solo material, none made an impact, despite the chart succes of all 5 members in the UK which is extraordinary!! Honestly, I never knew of the solo successes or even heard of most of these songs. I did hear Mel C's "I Turn To You" when it came out (on a Dance radio station) and was surprised it was not a US Pop Hit.
I remember Look At Me got heavy play in MTV, not none of the follow up singles go released here. Mel B’s Want You Back was played all the time on the R&B countdowns, but her album wasn’t released here. After Geri left it’s like Virgin stopped believing in them and the girls stopped trying to promote themselves in the US even though there was obvious interest.
