  • The ski season is over, but there is still work to be done. The ski area needs to be stripped of snow to allow for fill to be placed on certain slopes from a large snowmaking reservior excavation nearby. So a group of us have taken to the slopes again, this time to push the snow OFF the slopes.
A little mix of camera angles, DJI Mini 2 drone, phone and GoPro footage this time around.
I am piloting the Prinoth Bison X, and the other snowcats we have on the job are 2 Prinoth Leitwolf free-cats, a Leitwolf Winch, a 600 free-cat, a 600 Polar E+ free-cat, and of course the 600 Winch.

The drone footage and voiceover were awesome. Looks like it will be a long project ahead.

Great video, love the drone view.. Came across your channel in Jan when I was stuck at home with the Rona. Great content! Watched you place the led markers for winching. Ski patoller at my local hill here in Michigan, snow left 2 months ago.

Being sick is the best time to find the TH-cam channels you like. Glad to be a source of entertainment while you had the downtime! Thanks for watching!

You had some great angles! Those machines are badass but I could see how that would get boring after awhile.

Yeah, building trails is more fun than stripping them. Luckily there’s a lot of good podcasts to break the monotony 🤣

Nice video. Really kicked it up with the drone. Would love to hear about that 600e. Seems like that’s the next big thing in grooming. It’s seems such a shame to have all that snow wasted. That’s a big pile of money sitting there and melting. So that’s the way of the ski business. Thanks for the great views.

Yeah unfortunately the E is at a different resort all season and It would be a hassle to go down and try it most of the time.
As for the snow, we’re better off ending with too much than too little. Means less diesel burned trying to cover up dirt and less damage from tracks and timers bouncing off rocks. The skiers paid for the snow, so it’s never wasted 👍

How do you compare/what's your opinion on the center vs left side operator's seat? Also loved all the commentary and camera angles

The centre seat is good for pushing, because you can see both corners of the blade easily, for grooming it’s alright if you’re used to it. I don’t like it for park because it’s hard to spot features when you’re backing up to till them (the stinger lines up with rails/boxes behind you so blocks the view) and if you’ve got a passenger/s in the passenger seat you have to climb over them to get in and out, which is annoying in a winch. Some guys prefer the centre seat if they’ve come from a tractor/wheel loader/dozer background because it feels normal to them. I bounce between excavator and dozer all summer so it doesn’t worry me.

Great video, curious do you set the throttle or do you use the pedal while operating stick cats in your fleet. Looks like you don’t even have any cats with yokes. Thanks.

No, I drive off my foot personally. I feel it gives me better control when climbing and pushing. We’ve got one spare 400 with a yoke but everything else has sticks thankfully 😅
