First impressions are everything, the emphasis on the greeting “bonjour/bonsoir” and a simple “merci” goes a long way with the French. Like they said, the price you see is the price you pay- tax and tip is already included! Smartest and easiest system in the world!
We just left Paris Saint Michel. We checked reviews first and looked how many people in restaurant. We also looked at safe food. Some restaurants don’t refrigerate food. At one restaurant a patron was doing a cook at table fondue and rejected all the meat. We found everyone in Paris really nice as long as you are nice and say hello, good bye and thank you ( in French of course.)
After watching some of your videos before going to Paris for the 1st time, I have now been there, done that over 5 days. Paris is so amazing! ❤Gotta say, as an english speaker we found everyone we encountered, restaurants included, spoke english. Or at least understood us. There was no need to say anything in French, including ordering how we like our steak or ordering anything at all, and even telling them about an allergy (peanut).😅😊
Slightly connected to ordering in a French restaurant, particularly for Americans, filet mignon is NOT filet steak (beef) it is generally a cut of pork or veal.
Funny story. A friend wanted to know if the food in a restaurant was organic (bio/biologique) but didn’t know the word so she asked if there were any “préservatifs” (condoms) in the food. The waiter assured her there weren’t any.
As always, fantastic information (but a lot of it is common sense - anywhere in the world, if you’re cordial, then everyone will be too)! On our trip to Paris and Nice, we never encountered anyone that wasn’t kind and helpful. We truly loved every second spent in France and can’t wait to return.
"Service continu" : that's indeed an exception in Paris, mostly in touristic spots. Restaurants in France don't work like Mc Donald's 😉 . The kitchen is usually closed between the end of Lunch time (2:00-2:30 PM) and the beginning of Dinner time (7 PM). The good point is that you can stay longer on evening, after 10 PM, the waiter will not rush you to leave : The bill is not issued until you ask for it.
You two give such good tips to visitors. You deserve a Merci beaucoup! So, "Merci beaucoup!" btw your tips apply just as well to dining in Nice too! :)
I think the best restaurants being off the main paths is true no matter where you go in the world. I know here in the US, that is definitely the case. I have found many gems just by venturing off the main roads. Like I remember being in Texas once...there was this BBQ joint off the main town road, called Boomers. It was AMAZING! I thought it was better than Gas Monkey Garage, which was in downtown Dallas. I am sure the same is true in France. But yes, in my experience in June, the French are not rude. Just be polite, and make an attempt to speak their language. Respect is key no matter where you go.
We are planning a five day stay in Paris soon and I am so glad for your valuable TH-cam tips. Thank you so much for your commitment to the topic of Paris!
Vous avez de la chance vous semblez aller au restaurant tous les jours ou presque, j'adore aussi manger au restaurant, beaucoup de restaurants que vous avez faits sont mes objectifs ! 😄
I usually eat when I'm hungry, which means I sometimes have to eat in "tourist traps". I have to say that, compared to the food in most American restaurants, there ARE no bad restaurants in France.
that credit card machine is programmed that way so I don't think it is special for Americans. That said you can just bypass and if you want leave a small tip on the table. I don't think anything on the cc machine even gets to a server. Also beware of a stamp on the bill that says 'SERVICE NO COMPRIS" as that is special for Americans. Make no mistake it is included.

We found all the waiters we encountered in Paris to be very courteous and professional. As a rule of thumb we tip 10% in Europe and 20% in the States.

Indeed....Americanisms have butchered the French language. Filet Mignon (incorrectly used!), Entree (incorrectly used!).

Bon jour to my two favorites in the entire world!!! Thank you for the tips! Hugs!❤🎉
Happy Saturday! Thanks for another video! We're planning our next trip to both paris and London and your videos are essential ❤️

Thank you . Your program is fantastic. I have been in Paris 7 times for vacations or transits. I can’t wait for visiting there again soon.
My personal rule for finding a restaurant in Paris: if I'm the only person not speaking French, I'm in the right place.
happy Saturday-thank you!!
Very helpful tips. I thoroughly enjoyed your videos. One day, i will make it Paris ❤️❤️

Can you please make a video on your suggestions for reservations for dinner on Valentines Day? I love your videos so much!

Hi, good info video, thanks for the heads up.
Bonjour Antoine And Colleen. Are you back in France? Thanks for the “ tips”. Lol😊
Fantastic vid3o. You help soo much. Merci
1:04 - I liked Cafe de Flore

Very useful! Is that duck around the 4 minute mark? Where is it? Looks delicious!
Can you pretty please do a review on the best Steak Frites and Steak Roquefort
I'm the guy who liked the pizza at the airport in Belgium more then I liked the pizza in Rome. Forget about anything in Paris.
I think the rudeness comes from Americans forgetting they aren’t in America anymore. France is not Burger King. You can’t always have it your way.
Cute waiter

Is it rude to leave coins on the table, for a tip? I've heard that over and over!
It's not.
How do you let them know you have a food allergy?
They mention it in the video 🍀
3:43 she starts you off with how to start the sentence, but as for how to say different foods in French, you can check Google translate. Good luck!
9:51 and she explains it again here too!

Quelle horreur que ce doublage artificiel qui écorche les mots. S’il vous plaît, gardez votre ancien style si sympathique !
Very nice.
