Lol me too. My very first eargasm.
I first heard this on Sirius radio and I went to look for more Opeth songs like Delivernace but really could not find anything. Pretty sad cuz this song is amazing.
8:50 I love how the guitar says "deliverance" ahead of Mikael.
Such an epic outro! These guys know their stuff and for sure know how to end a song!!!
Holy sht 8:30-8:45
Only a genius could come up with this transition. I am in disbelief everytime I listen to it, no matter how many times I've heard it.
Classic Opeth. Long live Peter and Lopez. RIP old Opeth
I wonder what Peter is up to these days
you forgot about johan defarfalla!
Tim Walker Johan didn’t play on this. How could I forget someone that was already gone and not a part of the band at this point in time
D C well you said rip old opeth so he must have assumed you included johan as part of that statement.. I mean the dude was litterally outclassing everybody on the orchid and morningrise and got fired more or less because of that
Oh man the best! Miss this years
20 years after I first heard this song, at 10:58 the addition of those china hits on the off beat is still one of my favorite ever drum things.
Thinking of a song with an intro like blackwater park, middle part with Ghost of perdition, and the outro of Deliverance..
it would have been the perfect song ever created
may be one of the most under rated masterpiece in the history of music thnx for making my day 1000 time better
I love blasting this in my car. epic
4:43 is the best. It's got heavier van halen-ish vibes
8:39 puts a smile on my face
El cambio de ritmo en el minuto 7:38 es increíble. Opeth es una de las mejores bandas de Metal de las últimas dos décadas...virtuosos al máximo!!!
3:21 i love that sound !!!
Voice like an angel and a devil in the same song👌
Great description actually
classic opeth song
He is a sexy beast.
I think it's Loudwire who made a compilation of vocalists who can both sing you to sleep, and scare you to death (I'm paraphrasing). Needless to say, Mikael is on the list
laying it on a bit thick
My absolute favourite song by Opeth. Master's apprentices got me interested, this got me hooked.
Did you listen to when live?
@@thinkwhileeatingpasta5217 No I was late to the party unfortunately.
@@basil9877 For me Bleak is their best song and deliverance 2nd
1:17 gives me flashbacks of that berserk song "behelit"... i wonder if there was any influence there =]
The music speaks to my soul
Not many people know it but Steven co-composed deliverance. In fact the whole damnation album
The ending of this song gives me joy.
It scratches such an itch
Saw them live during their India 2019 tour and they played this. Best night ever !
annfender I moved to Boston from India and they cancelled their 2020 concert here! Lucky you!
Damn you're lucky. I missed that.
4:40 nobody has tabbed those 2 transition chords correctly from what I can find. I'm having a hard time figuring it out myself. What's mind blowing about it is Mikael doesn't even understand music theory, this ridiculously complex modulation just came out of his soul.
Floating on mist
Crept up the caverns of my brain
Received no warning
From nothing to a life code
Walk with me, you'll never leave
Wait to see your spirit free
Tell me how your heart's in need
As I drown you in the sea
Unwinding snares of distrust
Your wrist in my fast grip
Look me in the eye, I'm clear
This is your time
Face down beneath the waterline
Gazing into the deep
From love to death
In a time span of seconds
Oblivious to regret
Pushed into belief
In liquid cellophane
Gasping for air
Mercy in my eyes
Is the shade of the night
The piercing sounds you make
Soaring higher, higher now
And once left in my wake
Your memory's nothing but the scars on me
All over now
Forgotten why I needed this
Standing down
Disappear into the obscure
Resting days
Waiting for new disease
Biding time
Locked inside insanity
It always burns within
The downward spiral never ends
When driven into sin
Your salvation's found in a sinner's deed
All over now
Forgotten why I needed this
Standing down
Disappear into the obscure
Resting days
Waiting for new disease
Biding time
Locked inside insanity
The devil guides the way
Tells me what to say
Pours himself inside
And snuffs the final light
Deliverance
Thrown back at me
Deliverance
Laughing at me
Deliverance
Thrown back at me
Deliverance
Laughing at me

The heavy bass and grove keeps the track going and listener glued to the whole 13+ min's of it.... Quiet an experience...!!!
My favorite breakdown of Opeth's.
7:38 is catchy af 🤘
[KJV] Matthew 6:13
“And lead us not into temptation, but /deliver/ us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”
Hail Satan!
@@cobraimploder I pity those whom have not been touched by The Spirit. Would you like to repent, brother? JESUS is LORD!

@@j.y.ly3696 Jesus is Lord? I hadn't the faintest of ideas! Well, then I trust you will kindly forgive my misgivings about Jesus, and not mind my saying:
*GLORY TO THE DARK LORD, LUCIFER. MAY HE REIGN SUPREME!!!*
I bid you a beautiful and pleasant day, sir/madam!!
@@cobraimploder Respect but do not give in to the enemy. Otherwise you will be defeated instead of being the victor. And in that, there is no glory whatsoever.
@@j.y.ly3696 But what if I think Jesus and Yahweh are the enemy? What if I think they are morally bankrupt thugs? What if I think Satan is at least a 100 times more moral than Yahweh?
Amazing drummer heard this for the first time ever today now I am a fan
check out the band 'Soen'. He drums for them nowadays
Wait til you discover periods!
This is the first song I heard from Opeth and I was converted. Cheers
Got your salvation through Opeth. Awesome that you got delivered and now converted to the church of Opeth. Hahahahaha
Sameeeee
Fuck, that growl is amazing.
Binging their discography back to back right now. I might like this album even more than Still Life and Blackwater Park.
We need Opeth concert one more last time I would go anywhere on the earth to watch them live
Best metal song ever.
This was the first song I heard from them. Man, I loved that guitar solo in 7/8 - gave me goosebumps
Truly a masterpiece. 💗
I agree with you Jessica Rabbit!!!!!1
The outro combined with their galactic serenity theme stage film made me think they were attempting to stimulate what doing DMT is musically. That was my thought tonight as the show came to an end in KCMO. It was perfection!
As a former psychonaught I feel opeth definitely embodies many of the lsd trips I’ve had and does have some qualities of dmt
This must be the Joe Rogan take on Opeth
The lyrics are about an acid trip
I'm totally glad I heard this song in live, it was so damn crazy.
I'll be there the next time they come to Argentina 🤭🤘❤
I have this song as my alarm.
Noo man, you are going to hate it, trust me, i've been there. Never use a song you like as a alarm lol.
@@HeavyRaiden Use them as a ringtone instead
You must be late for work everyday.
Nicest clean drumming I’ve ever heard. Those ride accents, ghost notes and fills are unreal
The devil and the Angel = a fucking Masterpiece
Always end up here one way or another. Authentic quintessential.
I love the old Opeth
