I relate to this deeply. The sound of the ctrl-z/undo makes me want to crawl up into a ball in the corner of my room. I want to start digital drawing, but it's so different from pencil and paper!
It's a learning curve, something that helped me immensely when I first switched from traditional to digital was drawing out a sketch on paper, taking a picture of it and sketching over it digitally. Over time I stopped drawing over the sketch and would just have my drawing pad open on the side and would practice bringing the image on paper onto the digital canvas. I found it works best with just sketches rather than finalized traditional pieces, otherwise I would get frustrated trying to do things like colors and lineart too early rather than focus on getting used to the new environment and how to draw.

@karyn chambers I used to do more traditional art but I’ve transitioning into digital, and now when I want to do a sketch with paper and pencil I get confused on where the undo is
Okay so- I'd suggest maybe adding weight to your lines if that's happening? The sketch looks good because your brain fills in the areas that you didnt completely do so maybe adding weight will help you with that? Idk it helped me
y'all should try just cleaning up your sketches instead of adding a new lineart layer! it might look a little bit messier but it's faster and won't mess up the look of your drawing as can easily happen with separate lineart
Yup, seems legit. I wanted to share this. So one day i made a digital drawing and i thought it looked perfect at first. (It kinda took me 2 days to make cuz i'm that bad at art. Also it was a drawing of a human guy.) And after a month i stumbled across the same drawing in my phone. And i was like "The frick is that swamp creature looking thing?" So i ended up changing it like 5+ times till i finnaly thought it looked ok. 😅
My hand does these weird uncontrollable twitches when I write and sometimes it happens over my art. So sometimes I do a good line and suddenly zigzag off my path so I have to undo it/erase and continue from there.
I thought this was gonna be a serious art tips or lesson. But this..... This is something else and i like it. This kind of lineart-making suffering is really relatable!
True, I've decided to ban circle rulers for the sake of learning how to draw circles. Then I spent 1 hour on a circle. A C I R C L E. It wasn't even perfect, it was still a bit ovalar :-:
@@dailinelily damn I feel that. But really with enough practice you’ll get there. I used to be really bad at it but when I started focusing on digital art more I could definitely see the improvement. Now drawing a circle really only takes about 10 tries which is a lot better compared to my previous attempt ratio
@@okay_5927 yeah I get what you mean. I usually draw them like that but it still takes me a bit of time to draw a decent one. I think it’s just practice because I haven’t really drawn digital freestyle for long yet. I usually import pictures that I traditionally drew and trace on digital
@@krispykai3986 Yeah, really just needed some circle sessions to be honest. I don't struggle as much these days. If I'm not mistaken I've still got the canvas where I tried to draw a circle for one hour XD. Definitely used the circle I drew though.
@@okay_5927 I feel like I should try this. Anything bigger than my hand's range area ends up wonky and I think I need more muscle memory for the curves XD Thanks Edit: I will now be trying to draw without a stabilizer to practice my circles/lines for the sake of my traditional art as well. I guess I'll see what effect it will have?
perfect straight lines arent really that important a lot of the time in art unless you really need it for a certain style or something, but for that you can just use a ruler. I can art pretty goodly but i am pretty far away from being able to do straight lines
For everyone who uses procreate and struggles with getting clean strokes, I’ve got you. Choose your selected brush (monoline for example if you’ve got a crisp, clean art style that requires smooth lines) and then go to the adjustments on it. Select the “streamline” option and put it up to its maximum setting, and trust me, it will be like opening the door to narnia for the first time.
It doesn’t just work for line art too. My sketches have also improved since I‘ve started using streamline because I don’t use a million strokes for one line anymore. This way, I can actually tell which lines to follow for the line art and end up with much more readable art. Use streamline, people. It’s not cheating.
@TheSevenSouls it depends on if you actually post traced art. I think tracing is pretty good if you want to change up your art style due to inspiration taken from another person’s art, or if you just want to improve your anatomy in general. But of course people can’t lean on tracing for everything, and it’s especially bad if they post traced art.
@@xxxmaysilssss690 True, although I would say posting art where you've traced over your own assets isn't bad. I think for ppl who do that there usually eventually comes a point where they feel a bit restricted and want to "take the training wheels off" so to speak (unless they're absolutely amazing with 3D models but not as great with line art) but either way I wouldn't say it's strictly bad. If you can find a way of making art easier for yourself that doesn't infringe on other's copyright, you do you.

Definitely used the circle I drew though.

i like how everyone in the comments is relating to this, but I'm out here not knowing how to draw a straight line
perfect straight lines arent really that important a lot of the time in art unless you really need it for a certain style or something, but for that you can just use a ruler. I can art pretty goodly but i am pretty far away from being able to do straight lines
Op can't even draw a circle
If you ever need to draw a straight line, stare at the end point as you draw instead of watching the pen. It's a good start to having straight lines.
Use a ruler in traditional or just use the ruler tool (if there is any) in digital art
I can't draw a circle, a half circle, a curve, a star, a straight line, a good square, a good rectangle or any part of a person or face :/

Me suffering with ibis Paint X: why me...
@TheSevenSouls I might just be tired but when did they write about tracing art?
@@xxxmaysilssss690 True, although I would say posting art where you've traced over your own assets isn't bad. I think for ppl who do that there usually eventually comes a point where they feel a bit restricted and want to "take the training wheels off" so to speak (unless they're absolutely amazing with 3D models but not as great with line art) but either way I wouldn't say it's strictly bad. If you can find a way of making art easier for yourself that doesn't infringe on other's copyright, you do you.
