Hey Marco! It was great to meet you! I'm the lady who's house you looked at... The one that had you write down your name on my "Hello Kitty" note pad. What an amazing talent you have! Such a treat to see the world has actually talented musicians traveling the globe. Best of luck on your house hunting... May you find just the right house to call your home! ☮
I love the way Marco goes from tempo to tempo in the same way a person speaks sentences. The different cadences. It seems like he's telling you something with the kit. Kinda how Steve Vai does it on guitar on the song So Happy from his album flexible. Only Marco does it with cadences. Does anyone else notice that? I'm not a drummer so I don't know if I'm explaining it properly in technical terms.
well said i know what your saying, he really varies his dynamics in a way that's quite clear to hear and still interesting to the ear, he is very talented.
I've been watching several Virgil Donati solos lately, and re-appreciating his drumming. Marco Minnemann is another virtuoso drummer. I'm not comparing them. They're both incredible. This is just world-class skill, right here. Amazing stuff. I think he's continuing to improve, even. My new favorite of his solos.
First time Adrian Belew came to Uruguay, he came along with Marco on drums. I had no idea who he was, and when he made the solo, I told to my friend sitting next to me: "I´m not drunk, that´s for real?" Yes! I was in the presence of one of the best drummers in the world in a small club (with one of my fab guitarist also).
You should check out the 10 000 hours law. Study biology and metabolism (sport physiology) as well (Ray Peat is the best in that regard but also study gut microbiology for lowering inflammation) and exercise with people like Scott Sonnon. Find a good teacher, learn snare drum rudiments, a lot of different styles, never burn steps, you have to learn the basics, try to transcribe to train your ear. If you really want it, then you will.
Arborescence well , I play drums because I love music and I just play it as a hobby . I 'm busy with University and Life and I have other plans for future and I can't practice 4 hours each day . so I'm not super serious about it and I try to enjoy playing it in the short time that I have for it . And god it's fun I mean when I'm not home I miss my drum set more than anything else . and I'm always watching lessons , Covers and Practicing some beats on foot and I also plan on getting a practice pad to practice rudiments for when I'm away from home ( I play on foot tho ) .
if you practice 3 hours a day........ split into stick control one hour, independence one hour and grooves another hour......for the next 15 or so years - taking weekends off....you might succeed
There are many freaks like him in drumming, tony royster junior, aric improta, jacob armen, Dennis chambers, Mike mangini, but he's one of my top ten! And to make it into that you gotta be freakishly talented. Love Marco's independence and his left brain right brain connection are amazing, that's a level that a lot of Drummers can never get to no matter how hard they practice, natural talent and skill go a long way when it comes to abilities like his.
lateralbeats: I wouldn’t call any of them freaks. They each are very smart, had a vision and did the work necessary to fulfill it. Do work, get results, be easy to be around, and put yourself around folks who appreciate what you bring to the table. The folks we admire have done the best they can with what they were given. We can all do so, if we chose.
yesterday... bill bruford, carl palmer, phil collins (first genesis era), barriemore barlow; today... nick d'virgilio, mike portnoy, marco minnemann; the great tradition of prog drummers, goes on
I love Nick D, but let's be honest, he's a good drummer but he's got nothing on Marco technically speaking. Even Portnoy wouldn't be able to hang with him.
The overheads are inverted. The spot of the lowest tom is on the left. If you hear the cymbals you see that they are inverted. The crash over the charlie is on the left too. Anyhow minneman is one of the best drummer!
la verdad que no sabes un carajo de bateria, para que hablas al dope? mucha gente te va a creer semejante pelotudes, a parte porque mejor? explicanos, porq lo tuyo es una opinion, y como tal, es basura sin argumentos, saludos @@abielst7581
As crazy the drumming is. I fucking love the editing. I know i can't in a million years of practice be as good as Marco but maybe I'll be able to learn the editing.
Every so often, God wonders how the human race is doing with drumming since he gave us rhythm all those hundreds and hundred of years ago, maybe he thinks he could give us some pointers, he looks down and sees Mr Minneman and other drummers (of which the list very very long) and thinks, "Nah, they've got this!"
What’s he got going on with his bass drum? I may be wrong but it looked like he had a double bass pedal and a single bass drum pedal on one bass drum. Am I crazy? Edit: never mind I seen what he had going on auxiliary hi-hat. So I am crazy it turns out.
not sure if there is a band out there in any genre who has more talent in it than this one. guthrie and marco both could lay claim to the best in the world at what they play, and Bryan has gotta be a top 50 bass player.
Endless solo ideas... every second is a surprise and no matter how long he plays, you don't get bored.
Couldn't agree more!
Nobody comments on how great that kit sounds... so here you go 😉😎
That snare is wonderful. I'm in love with it.
I love his snare sound, exactly the right pitch! And obviously his kick.
not just that, the camera and the sound engineering and mixing is really impressive, everything sounds great
The Collector's series and the polished bell brass 14x5,5 model. Killer combo!
And the video is neatly cut!
Ever since he started taking lessons from Lars, his sound has really improved.
Oh, man, that was SAVAGE.
Paul Scarpelli On a serious note, Marco is so amazing
Haha, more like Lars should take lessons from him!
@@andrewaavik 😀
I was like really? (just for a second tho)
What I really love about this solo is that he uses every single piece of the drum kit. Nothing is left behind.
One of the most technical and tasteful drummers on the planet!
Yes indeed. And Gavin Harrison on this level.
@@tomtrana3449 for sure!
Jason Rullo is my choice!!!
Probably the most creative and best solo I've ever seen. I just started laughing cause of how ridiculously talented he is! 😍😂
He's the king of independence and his ideas and concepts are out of this world,a drum GOD!!!

Are you in Germany
Whenever my head gets to big and i think im the bomb at druming i watch this guy for a reality check lol
So...you watch this all the time?! :P
The editing is ALMOST as good as the drumming.
You can feel when the editor likes and knows what he's editing.

His ability to be so technical and yet so musical, sonically, is amazing to me
He is a genie. No human can do this.
Marco's syncopation skills are from another planet.
That kit sounds so crispy and precise, not to mention ole' marco!

Marco is superb, great feel.

chucho porkusmag donde fue eso?
Mans could go forever
Im only here for MARCO. Best drummer. I just found this today
awesome drum sound ! fantastic solo too !!!
The Best Of all drummer thanks for the show Waaaouuuu...
This guy is amazing , I'm starting Drums next week and I'm 20 and I watch this guy and I feel : I'm never going to be that good ... :(
Hate to bring it to you: you probably won't. Then again, neither will I and 99.99% of all drummers world wide..
just keep working on your drumming never give up

8:40 split screen, top right corner. Misses a stick, but I only noticed from seeing, not listening. He covers it up so well. Legend!
5:37 he nearly lost his stick, awesome editing with split screen black/white how he still regrabs it
Holy F**k... I'm speechless!!
One of the best! Nice save.
absolute perfection!!!
creative, great, is Marco!!
I think that cymbal part was the best drumm solo i ever heard and saw.
The more I listen to this guy the more I am becoming a fan.
the best drum solo ever !!!!!!!
I'd love to see a drum battle with Marco and Benny Greb! Those two are probably the most creative drummers out there at the moment.
One of the greatest
That kit sounds incredible.
c'mon this dude is a frickin MAD MAN !
Damn. This is beautiful.
Everyone fumbles a stick from time to time, it's how a player recovers from the fumble that makes them truly great. Marco has this quality in spades.
Those drums...sound..amazing.
masterpiece. respect!!!
Holy Shit!!!!~ Thank you Marco....damn.
Really great groove and technique :)
I believe we are in front of today's most skilled drummer.
Thomas Lang, Virgil Donati are better
Sem dúvida um dos melhores.
The best drummer
My god , very very very good
最高のドラマーだわ

This is is the sickest things of all time
.....would love to hear this full rip solo played as the rhythm behind a furious bluegrass banjo and guitar duel !!!!.....YEEEEE-HA !!!!
yesterday... bill bruford, carl palmer, phil collins (first genesis era), barriemore barlow; today... nick d'virgilio, mike portnoy, marco minnemann; the great tradition of prog drummers, goes on

Yes......but can he play Back in Black?
..or smoke on the water
This guy could probably even play Back in Black Backwards
Yes.. in 38/16
I wish I could lose and recover sticks just like him.
10:31 when you missed playing death metal
Love to hear marco do a version of Billy Cobhams Quadrant Four......
marco hat einfach den größten.... :) 5 stars!
Best drummer in the world
El más perro 👊🏼😏 Marcos minneman 100 %
The best !!!!!
The overheads are inverted. The spot of the lowest tom is on the left. If you hear the cymbals you see that they are inverted. The crash over the charlie is on the left too. Anyhow minneman is one of the best drummer!
simply the best Marco!>=:)
I usta play just like Marco..... in my dreams... then, sadly, I woke up... damn!!
That opening bit was a rework on a solo piece he put on his channel years ago. So sick.
Crazy Footage but Interesting just as the music...
The Master
Poor Dream Theater, must be crying...
Bro, i have been seeing the audition many times, and for me the best was Virgil Donati
Lars, Lars was so good they even hid his audition. Only a couple of minutes of the footage have leaked. The man is UNREAL!!!
Minneman>>>>>>Mangini
That solo was severely lacking lol
la verdad que no sabes un carajo de bateria, para que hablas al dope? mucha gente te va a creer semejante pelotudes, a parte porque mejor? explicanos, porq lo tuyo es una opinion, y como tal, es basura sin argumentos, saludos @@abielst7581
Somehow, the joy with which he plays reminds me of Keith Moon...
As crazy the drumming is. I fucking love the editing.
I know i can't in a million years of practice be as good as Marco but maybe I'll be able to learn the editing.
That blast beat sounded delicious
Does he drop that stick at 5:39 or is that just another clever Marco rudiment?
He lost it for a moment
Every so often, God wonders how the human race is doing with drumming since he gave us rhythm all those hundreds and hundred of years ago, maybe he thinks he could give us some pointers, he looks down and sees Mr Minneman and other drummers (of which the list very very long) and thinks, "Nah, they've got this!"
Marco was not just into it mentally though being a magnificent drummer 👍 Virgil was tremendous 🔥
It seems to me Marco can go on indefinitely... :) BTW, probably one of the best sounding snare drums I have ever heard
The whole kit if you ask me. :)
In general he has great snare drum sound/taste.
Holy cow
HE ATTACKS the kick! WOAH. next level shit
What is communication for ?
Minn shows you exactly what he's doing but he never gets mentioned as one of the top 10 drummers in the world cuz of his matched grip
I really enjoy it
I think dream theater lost big game
Evidently he is working on Alex Lifeson's solo album. Very impressive!
He doesn't quite have Buddy's left hand (but who does) but he has the rest....and then some. Genius.
petec9686 : Buddy is another era but Marco is ....🧐
inagaddadavida drum solo will never be beat
What's the small cymbal on top of his right hand crash?
How did he flip to black mallet on the kicks then to felt in the video, 2 part pieced together?
Shad Chollack He changed them with his feet while we weren't looking
Whats the small cymbal on top of the bigger K crash on his right?
What’s he got going on with his bass drum? I may be wrong but it looked like he had a double bass pedal and a single bass drum pedal on one bass drum. Am I crazy?
Edit: never mind I seen what he had going on auxiliary hi-hat. So I am crazy it turns out.
Minnemann is to drums what Paul Gilbert is to guitar
wandersonfcastro ye.. no.
Guthrie*
Exactly, Gilbert has done many pointless things in his career. Marco has yet to do one.
I like Paul, but Marco has more artistic quality.
So which planet is he from?
10:32 kvlt level over 9000
Best power forward of all time. Sorry duncan.
What is that ride? Sound like a K custom session.
Cb500
Mike Man-who-ni?
Um....wow.
Can God make the world's best drum solo?
Marco Minnemann: Yes i can!
强到哭!
not sure if there is a band out there in any genre who has more talent in it than this one. guthrie and marco both could lay claim to the best in the world at what they play, and Bryan has gotta be a top 50 bass player.
This guy is the shit. OMG
That beat and stick work at 8:00 is so nasty.
Guthrie Gowan on guitar?
Yes
This is how I make sounds from my teeth when I feel cold 1:01
Fucking great man!!!! Awesome!!!
holly shit
