What a great instructor, always appreciate it
Good morning David - no matter what the lesson is, it is always good to hear from you. As far as I am concerned this is the heart of 'playing the blues with a feeling' - thanks for making my morning.
Wow, another killer lesson. As a member for almost 4 years, I HIGHLY recommend David's Fingerstyle Five membership. As a world-class player and teacher he has an answer for any issue you might have trying to learn this style. At first, it feels awkward getting your fingers and thumb to work independently and together but he has lots of tips to make them do so using slow, easy to understand techniques. As you can see and hear, he's got GROOVE for days and I love listening, learning and playing walking bass lines over moving chords and/or melody lines. If you'd like to do the same, check out this month's lessons and ALL the ones he's ever done inside the membership. What I like most about playing Fingerstyle guitar is you can be your own 4 piece band. You can lay down a percussive groove, add steady, alternating, or walking bass, add chord hits or moving chords, and play melody or lead on top. Think of the money you'll save not having to hire additional musicians. It's an addicting style to learn and play and thanks to David I can't stop. An intervention would be useless. Did I mention it's FUN. YOU can do it. Give him a try.......you're welcome.
Great instructor! I bought the Acoustic Guitar book learning slide guitar from Acoustic Guitar magazine on website. I am using my Martin O-18 with John Pearse 960L pure nickel strings. I set my action at 5th fret .005" low E 7/64ths and high E 6/64ths. Have fossil walrus ivory saddle and fossil walrus ivory bridge pins. Thank you for taking time to help us understand.
Really well explained Thanks for breaking it all down. 🙂
Superbly presented. So much thought to keep it so concise.
Awesome lesson David, I found your channel recently and it's full of great quality material, thanks so much for sharing, have a great day!
Great Lesson Thanks
Awesome David , Thank You..
Wow!! Im on it!!Thank you!
Hey David. Please tell me where as an absolute beginner, I should start with your lessons. Thanks
@dankeck6230 David may have a different and better answer, but in the meantime have you worked through his "Six Steps to Playing Finger Style Blues in E" series? Lots of great ideas to get you started, and it's organized cumulatively to help you start with a good rhythmic foundation and build from there.
Do u pluck the bass notes with the pad of your thumb or with the nail?
