This has absolutely no right to go as hard as it does. It's legitimately one of the best battle themes I've heard like holy s-. Thanks a bunch for uploading this clean rip!
Best original game, and character interaction. Small but impactful! The game's soundtrack is also top notch, especially main menu and the battle theme. The battle theme and the enemies, seem to be in somewhat sync. Some enemies hop around to the rhythm. If that is true, it is even more impressive
This game did not deserve this song. The seriousness and go-harditude is completely shat on by the silliness of how the main character can't seem to do anything on her own coupled with her inability to follow simple commands. Oh yeah, also by the super cheery voice going "An enemy has been sighted :D :D :D"
OK so one thing I learned from experience and researching this game is that you can make Rio understand your comments better if you use forced japanese accent, so instead of saying "Right" you say "Lighto" instead of saying "briefcase" you say "brifucaseu". The reason this game is like this near as I can tell ISN'T because the voice recognition lines were spoken in by a japanese person doing their best to speak english. It's actually because the voice to text software used in the game is built for japanese phonem system and the english phrases are wedged in there like a VCR tape jammed into a cassete player by force. So words are recognized as syllables as opposed to a series of letters and probably have to follow some inherent japanese word structures (so L=R and no word can end on a consonant) and the game doesn't have the refinement necessary to actually process it in english so it just works poorly. I don't have any proof of this but it's entierly possible the game works perfectly OK in Japanese since voice to text recognition of that language is much more processing efficient than a similar process would be in english. I still wish a game like this would be made again since voice recognition tech has gotten so advanced in the past few years nearly anything can use it.
This game genuinely could use a revision of sorts, i loved Ryo as a character but the entire gameplay and the inability for her to listen to me made me despise her halfway, like a handicapped dumb nuisance who can't do anything on her own. (I still respect her for having enough self restraint to not shot the manager for calling her gold digging bimbo because i was screaming on the mic "shoot him please")
This game could really use a revision of sorts by modders but because it wasn't so popular it's going to be left in the shadow realm, i loved Ryo as a character but her inability to listen to my commands made me hate her halfway through, it felt like talking to a handicapped dumb child who can't do anything on her own. (Still i have alot of respect for her self restraint to not shot the manager for insulting her)
@@LightWavess yeah the game is very memorable, but I doubt modders could do much to fix it the localization is flawed on technical level from the basis of its integral system.
@@nikodem123asdf One thing that makes this game special is how Ryo is always looking in your eyes when speaking and the fact you pretty much have to interact with her constantly so she grows on you over time, no other game does did that for me, it does a pretty good job letting you get attached to the character. My phases were : Well she's kinda cute. Ok? Why are you asking me what to check, you have things in your face. You are the one with the gun just shot! Holy hell why are you so bossy?! Listen to me!!! Jesus she's naive like a child (few scenes like the ghost bathroom) And yea the sea shells minigame... It was frustrating experience but at the same time it felt like a test of patience.
@@LightWavess there were also some unexpected responses like if you tell her: -"F*** You Rio!!!" She responds -"Feeling's Mutual" which is also thematically fitting cause in the context of the story she can't curse
"Dodge Right!"
"Dodging Left!"

“Shoot mouth”

“ON ITS FACE”

Lifeline is so damn cool!
I wish it would get a PC port someday!
