    The builder should be in prison for fraud

    If she has proof of paying the builder, then she cannot be held responsible for the bill. I had a roofer pull that, he did not pay for supplies, the supply company came after me, I provided proof of payment and the case was dropped.

    I say they start by taking the builder's home away and selling it, then using any profits to pay for these people's repairs!

      The builder probably took their money and used it to buy carpeting for other jobs he had not been paid for yet because he had not finished. Then before he could finish their job and pay off the carpet bill he went out of business. Now the carpet store is going after them because the invoice has their address on it but in reality the carpet was used in multiple houses.

    Who in the world closes on her house before the items are finished or without holding back money at escrow.? Also, the title company should cover the liens if they were smart enough to get title insurance.

  • @GungaLaGunga

    How the heck do you spend $41,000 on carpeting? That does not make any sense.

    That sucks. The carpet guys provided the material in good faith and they didn’t get paid for

    Can you bypass the general contractor, get the sub contractor's info and pay them directly??🤔

    • @gladitsnotme
      @gladitsnotme 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's how it's normally done. You hire the contractor and all the subs you get the bill directly.

    • @jonwhick3073
      @jonwhick3073 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can but then you are basically the general on the job most companies don't like that cuz they charge you a upcharge on everything electronical is 10k probly 8k to electrician and the home builder pockets 2k

    Why would you close on a house that's not complete?

  • @TheGoodwinlive
    @TheGoodwinlive 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Sounds like an opportunity to create an "income loss type of insurance" for builder's in case builders are fraudulent, mismanage building funds or otherwise. This way the families can get their money back. If the builder doesn't have sufficient assets, filing asset Leins won't help.

    This is why being a Karen is secretly a great thing, my mother was there from start to finish..heckling them and pointing out all the issues...the workers were fed up but they were scared of her nagging so they always did the best job they could. Corporations hate karens for a reason, keeping them responsible for their crap.

  • @aday1637

    Build your own house. It's not that difficult and you control the cash flow all the way. Giving $$ to builders is like tossing it into the wind. Get rid of some of the building codes to that folks can have a roof over their head that is affordable. A good portion of the building process is fees and inspections. It couldn't be any worse than what these people have. And stop trying to outdo your neighbor with fancy overblown houses which you don't need and will never use. The house in this piece was large enough for 8 families to live in. Show offs that got burned.

      Totally agree. I lost all pity for her when she said the “toughest” part was not spending copious amounts of money on her grandkids. Sorry she’s going through this but when people don’t take a little bit of effort to do a simple search, ask some questions and look around before spending that kind of money, then sadly, kind of on them.
