- In this video I demonstrate how to play the song Dr. Feelgood by Motley Crue. This is the Title Track Off there album Dr. Feelgood produced by Bob Rock, and is considered one of their best albums ever released by the band. The song is in Drop D, which is a standard tuning for Motley Crue, and gives the song a grinding sludgy groove that sounds amazing and is fun to play. There are a lot of cool fills parts in the song including a fitting guitar solo from Mick Marrs. In the video I show how to play the solo and provide insight on how Mick achieved some of the harmonics and effects in the solo and also the song. Nikki Sixx wrote an banger with this song, and the band was captured and produced masterfully by Bob Rock. I hope you enjoy learning the song and also enjoy the lesson. Thanks for watching. I'd like to hear more about that guitar
me too....
Dr Feelgood was their best sounding album. The production was kicked up a notch from their previous albums.
That would be the Bob Rock Factor
True that! The guitars sound so good. Crunchy and not venturing upon the Bass guitar. Makes it all cohesive.
I can tell you...shut up@@jasonshuman7488
You're...your
Bob Rock. That’s it.
Mick was a 70's blues guitarist playing in an 80's glam rock band. That gave them a very unique sound.
always top shelf lessons. Thanks Marty you are a great player and teacher . your tha man Marty 5150.
The last several lessons have been awesome! Thx
I agree 💯, I have a hard time learning he's my speed!
I think when you teach us how to do "Girls" You're gonna need to get some dancers in the studio for full effect. That's really how I learn best.
Digi Tech drop pedal solves all the trem bar problems for d-tuning.
Great lesson!!
Marty you've been really kickin' out some great tunes! Thank you for all the great lessons and all the hard work you put into your channel. I really appreciate you.
Awesome lesson and tones Marty! Tuning down to D is essential for that deep bass-like chugging.
I really appreciate the algorithm bringing me here. Great work and walkthrough! Thanks
You're welcome, glad you found the channel. 😎
Great lesson and love that tone you have . That screams
Man love that guitar!! Great sound too!!
Cool Bro. Luv the song Luv the band great segment
Awesome !!! Nice floyd rose guitar :)
Fun video! After I watched this one, I went back and re-watched the video on the warmoth guitar you’re playing here. That’s a pretty cool guitar.
Mick the riff master…. Great video
Your "horse whinny" is awesome man, thanks for the lesson Marty.
Marty, your the man dude, just started working this out yesterday 👍
gotta love the hendrix chord
awesome lesson
Appreciate that!
Thanks Marty, these lessons are great
Man, killer lesson Marty! What guitar are you using, and what pickup? The sound is incredible to me.
Thanks again from all of us guitar geeks.
Thanks Marty! I could chug that all afternoon. Still got my guitar in the collection I see.
D Standard . Drop D for new listeners is where you just drop the E (fat string dropped to D) D standard is when ALL the strings are lowered 1 full step. Love this tune saw the tour in Springfield Ma in 89 I think is when they came thru. Lol 15 seein MC
Thanks Marty great lesson 🤘
I use a DigiTech Drop Pedal that takes the tuning down one whole step from standard E to D tuning.
The DigiTech Drop is a guitar pedal that lets you drop your guitar's tuning without changing the tuning pegs. It has a polyphonic drop tune algorithm that allows you to drop your pitch from one semitone to a full octave. The Drop has a single knob for choosing pitch settings and a momentary/latching footswitch.
The latency or irritating tho
@Tyt130 I didn't notice any latency on mine 🤷
id love to know what gauge picks you use for stuff like this if you have a moment. Cheers great video and Crue was my fave band since growing up and hearing Live wire back in those days.
I'm confused which is not unusual, lol but I thought drop D tuning was when you drop just the E string down to a D but here you seem to be dropping all six strings down one whole step each. Thanks for the lesson Marty, Mick Mars is a great and underrated guitarist. Rock On!! 🎸
You're correct. I always misspeak and say drop D. The guitar is tuned entirely one step down. Standard drop tuning to D.
Thankyou Marty, your reply is greatly appreciated. You’re a great guitarist and teacher, thanks again bro 🎸
@ thanks man! I am glad to help!! 🎸😎
Great, cool sound. You're the Best 🤘.
Could you teach Duke Jupiter - Little Lady, a great classic rock song from 40 years ago.
Thank You!
wouhouuuu i feel to fast for love now !
Great lesson! What guitar is that?
Warmoth custom made super strat

Always liked this track. Lovely looking guitar Marty have u done a review of it?
Another great song and great lesson! What guitar are you playing on this one? Is that a Charvel?
Yer tremelo needs a little oil, when you use the whammy it squeaks an audible sound each time. Thx sub'd and liked!!
That’s your best looking guitar and it sounds good! Partscaster or Charvel? Fender?
I just heard you say Warmoth 🤙🏻
Warmoth body and Mighty Mite neck. Floyd 100. Thanks! 🎸🤘
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker and jb?
Have you heard of ‘Ooh Baby’ by Cryer?
Gotta' acknowledge the (cough, cough) "influence" of Killing Joke's "Love Like Blood".
Sweet.. 1989 though..
way cool jr?ish
Dr Feelgood = 1989
Motely are the chicks that surrounded that band are great mems for me. 80s was HOT!!!
drop D ?
D standard
Same thing in my book lol
@@Ranch5150SkinWalkerI have an axe I leave in that tuning. Gonna give this one a go!
Tune your guitar to standard 440.... Tune your low E down to D (tune it to pitch 1 octave lower to your D string, 3rd from the top) THEN without tuning the low E string, tune your 5,4,3,2, and first string (high E) to the top string. Wallah😉👍🏻.
That almost looks like a Tom Delonge strat
Says the guy with a wall of amps behind him
First of all it came out in August 1989 dude
Ok
When you fuck up the year everything after that is shit dude ok
Ok 😂
